How do you know if you're intolerant to milk, etc?
LilMissDiva Irene replied to TijuanaPlication's topic in Gastric Plication Surgery Forum
Well, this is how I found out: http://www.verticalsleevetalk.com/topic/10598-a-very-interesting-evening-for-me/page__p__91930__hl__interesting+night__fromsearch__1#entry91930 -
Anyone taken an appetite suppressant post op?
LilMissDiva Irene replied to mp8btpc's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ah, thanks! My omeprazole is working ok for now, but sometimes things just stop all of a sudden. It's nice to have backups in mind. -
Awwwwwww gahhh!!! Cyber hugs to all!! This whole situation is blahhh... seriously. We used to have a Fredericks in my area but that was many MANY years ago. The shopping mall it used to be in doesn't even exist anymore. :'( Tiff, you're going to be so happy once you get the boobs done. I feel for you girlie, going through that (((hugs))). I hope you can get your new pair soon! I'm sure you'll find something you love. I know I will be glad when I get mine done!!! I have a long ways to go though... I don't know what I'm going to do once I shrink out of the Cacique bras from LB's. The smallest they carry are the 36C... and ya know, my 38C's are on the last hook - so I know they're next. Heck you can't even get the 36C's in their stores (at least none in my area)! They are only online. About the "Pink" stores... that is sooo funny!! Hahhaaa!! I laugh whenever I see girls wearing those sweat pants. Kinda silly. Question to the Kohl's shoppers: Which brands are you buying? I have NEVER been able to find good bras - like I said except for the Cacique brand at LB. Other brands always make my boobs look like either cones or mountains. Not interested in having either...

Anyone taken an appetite suppressant post op?
LilMissDiva Irene replied to mp8btpc's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Anytime mp! You've always been super supportive of everyone here. sleeve, what is protonix? Is that new? I've never heard of it - thanks! -
Pompa is another excellent choice. I actually spoke with her on the phone while I was doing my Surgeon search. She'd have been my second choice, but was able to come up with enough to have Aceves do my revision. Aceves was more experienced in what I needed to have done. OP, you will want to look her up too, when you get the chance.

Are there any SIZE Goal sleevers out there?
LilMissDiva Irene replied to LilMissDiva Irene's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Oh yeah 14-16 on 6' looks really good. But you're right, keep going until you feel comforable stopping. That's what I'm all about! I will not be a slave to my scale!! The whole BMI thing wasn't meant for me. -
Are there any SIZE Goal sleevers out there?
LilMissDiva Irene replied to LilMissDiva Irene's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I have DEFINITELY noticed that too. I think that is why I have chosen the 6-8 Range. It is VERY true that all manufacturers make the same size different. I think as long as I can wear the Kohl's in size 6-8 I'm about done. ESPECIALLY Levi's. That's my #1!!! I bought a pair of 8's in Levi's and once I fit my big ole booty in them, I'm quitting this losing weight thing. MINI - you are too funny with the Diva comment!! There's nothing wrong with that, rock it girlie! Quality clothes once you get to goal is a dream of mine. -

Hey, anytime! FWIW, I think you chose right. Good luck on that 25 Lbs! From the sound of it, you'll probably even do better. -
I am making a conscious effort to never answer another thread that starts with "I have ONLY lost..." O_o

Serious Contemplation
LilMissDiva Irene replied to Brooklyn732's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
What you are feeling right now is 100% normal. Every single time I'd start to do it on my own and I was losing, I would think exactly like you are now. However, here I am - Ex-Bandster and newly sleeved nearly 3 months ago. I am extremely glad I went through with it. I regret it NONE!!! I do have to tell you though, getting the sleeve is a big decision to make. Make absolute sure it's something you want to do. IMO, I think you would rock the heck out of your sleeve if you're already losing as great as you are now. Here's the kicker though, the chances of you gaining your weight back are VERY slim. What are your chances of weight RE-gain without it? Whatever you decide, let us know! I'm interested to find out. All the very best to you, no matter which road you choose!! -
Sleeved Nov 16 - Readmitted to hospital 20 days later
LilMissDiva Irene replied to FlyGirl's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
(((((Kelly))))) I'm so sorry to hear you're going through this!! I'll keep you in my thoughts and prayers! Have a speedy recovery, I hope this goes away fast. It's always good to know of all the complications we can have, having major surgery like this. Please let us know how you're doing when you can. -
Hello Qmin, Welcome to VST!! Well, I believe that question should only be answered by your surgeon. I personally get full very fast on any kind of pastas, and I'm nearly 3 months out at this point. The main thing is to let your stomach heal right now. Stick to your Post Op diet plan given to you by your surgeon or Nutritionist. You can always give them a call if you feel you need to move forward faster. However, only do this on their advice! All the best!

EXACTLY why I have chosen not to tell anyone unless they have a vested interest in my health. Not sure how everyone at work came to know of your personal decision, but hopefully folks will read this and see how insensitive others can be. They really DON'T care about you nor your feelings. I prefer not to spend my entire day relaying messages on why I've chosen to have any kind of medical procedure. It is my personal private business, and unless the person I tell is planning to be on the other side of me after my operation, they really don't need to know a darn thing.

8 wks post op today & so discouraged
LilMissDiva Irene replied to keeepitreal24's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The reality is you ARE losing fast. The recommended weekly weight loss goal in the health world is 1 - 2 Lbs. per week. You are losing 3.75 Lbs per week. That's about 2 -3 times faster. -
Body image changes after WLS
LilMissDiva Irene replied to BlackBerryJuice's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I definitely have some body dysmorphia (sp? - too lazy to look it up) ...anyway, I feel the same as I ever did. Most who have posted in this thread are at goal, past goal or close to. But I've been very thin in my past and even then I saw FAT in the mirror. I have to look at pictures of myself to really get a good guage on how I really look. Even then I still "looked fat". I never did have a real goal set in mind. I'm going for size more than weight. Even then, I won't really know if I want to stop until I get close to, or actually there. It's just strange... not knowing how I'm supposed to feel about that. It's like being blind, trying to feel for familiar settings... kinda. -
Jillian (Biggest Loser) comment.
LilMissDiva Irene replied to Was a humpty dumpty's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
TRUE. Any weight loss surgery is merely a tool. The patient will still have to learn how to NOT over-eat. In fact it will be more detrimental that they learn this, as over-eating can now cause serious physical damage to their new stomachs. FALSE. If we are talking about the Lap-Band only, I found that it is indeed MORE DIFFICULT to eat healthy foods. This was because I had a false fascination with what the band would give me. I stayed entirely too tight, as do MOST PATIENTS with the Lap Band. I would vomit all my healthy food, yet anything soft and calorie loaded was simple to ingest. However, it is TRUE that patients WILL need to learn to exercise still, and not to be so tight that they cannot eat healthy. Here's the tricky part... when someone gets WLS, they do it because they need all the help they can get, so chances are they are going to want to be as tight as possible. Again, patients STILL need to learn how to eat healthy foods, smaller portions and exercise. No WLS is going to teach you that. It's merely a tool to address the "over eating" aspect. That is all. I actually disagree with this. This does not "suck". It has saved my life. (Not the BAND but the SLEEVE) She's right about the Diet, Self Exploration and Exercise - but any obese person needs to address more than those 3 things alone. It is a conglomeration of many things, and OVER EATING is a MAJOR part. I totally agree with Waffleking that she has money to make. She's going to make half-assed statements like this to save her business. What I would suggest is when you see this, make a reply to her posts and disagree with her. I doubt she'll respond directly, but at least you will spark up some debate amongst others willing to discuss it. Thank you for sharing this! It just goes to show how mis-informed so many folks are about WLS. It doesn't stop me from putting the things I shouldn't into my mouth. Only I can do that... but it sure DOES help with me eating too much of it. That in and of itself HELPS GREATLY!! -
Are there any SIZE Goal sleevers out there?
LilMissDiva Irene replied to LilMissDiva Irene's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hey ladies!!! Well I'm so happy I'm not alone!! Oopsee, I do believe they make sizes a bit different than they used to. You might not weigh the same as you did last you wore that size. I've noticed for myself, I can fit in all different kinds of sizes, just depending where I buy the outfits. You know what? I've saved some pants from that many years ago. I think they are actually from about 1988. Back then they were size 14's. I wore them for awhile until I gained a lot of weight pretty quick. I hope I can get those suckers on again someday!! Heheee Hey coops, I've used the muscle excuse a lot too! LMAO!! It's only because I have NO clue why I weigh so much. Could it be our cells are just more evenly distributed, rather than them being all in one spot? I don't know... Anyhow, your UK sizes are much smaller than ours. It sounds like you might want to be around the same size as me. You're very close!!! Go girlie!! Hey Chilo, yes you are VERY close to goal!!! Whoohooo!!! I like your style, keep up the good work - and send a big shout out when that day comes!!! -
Sorta NSV or Not
LilMissDiva Irene replied to thinoneday's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Oh that is definitely an NSV!!! Your own MOM didn't recognize you... WOW!!! Now as far as the hair comment, well isn't that just like a Mom? She's just showing her concern. Congratulations!! -

CONGRATS!!! Definitely get some rest. Hugs -
Great job Tamboo!!! Thanks for posting your check-in... I certainly appreciate it. Keep up the good work. For me I only see the progress in my photos. I rarely see it just by looking in the mirror. Strange huh?

New to VSG forum
LilMissDiva Irene replied to Telisaswan's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Welcome to VST Swan!! It's nice to have you join us. Please take a look around, and that you have time - get to know all that you can about the procedure you have chosen. Congrats to your daughter!!! Wow that is so great, good for her! IMO, buy the Atkins book - read it cover to cover and try that as your springboard to weight loss. Likely you will continue this sort of diet after surgery too, so you will already be ahead of the game. Start a new exercise routine too. Start slow or you will get burned out quickly. Remember that you are doing this to change your way of life, not just to lose weight for a short period of time. Hugs to you!!! Please keep us updated on your progress. -
BOOBIE FUN! TAA TAA Try on.
