Weight Loss & Obesity related TV Shows

I totally do understand where you are coming from. I do try to fast forward through all the annoying "commercials" especially the phony outings to Subway. What a crock!! As far as the weight re-gain, well I do believe the contestants do have a better percentage of regain than the general public, so I guess it's not all that bad. I do know though I love my chances with my sleeve the best!! RE: Ruby, it's looking like she's kicking that jerk to the curb which she needed to do from day one. He's a terrible person and I personally think he's just looking for an opportunity to be on TV and pretend her cares for her which we all can figure out (except her) that he does not. All her friends mention the fact they don't believe he has her best interest at heart at all. I hope she sticks to her guns when it comes to leaving him behind and starts kicking butt again!!

Weight Loss & Obesity related TV Shows

You are absolutely right with a lot of the reality TV shows. I guess I kind of overlook some of the bad, because I just really am interested in others stories and struggles. I find so much inspiration with them losing weight and working out a lot of their issues. I do also like to watch the documentaries as well! I always set the DVR for any I notice that are coming on. I never *not* watch any I know are airing. I will check them out, thank you!!

Thank you so much genepha. I cannot stress how much more my life is improved with getting my revision surgery. I truly am living the life I though I was going to have with my Lap Band. I'm in the CENTURY CLUB!!!

Oh, you all sure know how to make a lady feel special!!! :D Thank you all so much for your kind words and congrats... it feels so great!!! I'm just glad all my hard work is paying off (for now...haa!!) Hopefully it will last until I hit goal... well a girl can wish can't she? @hope - hang in there!!! It truly does keep getting better and better!! @Julia - I'd love to see the happy dance!! LOL - I just want to tell you that you kept me motivated to keep trying! You've been doing so awesome and I just knew I could do it too... @thin - I'm only 5'6"... so nope not really tall. Just a bit shorter than average. Why I weigh so much I'll never know. I just do... which is why I really try not to place so much emphasis on how much my goal weight should be. I will know when it's time to stop - and I will likely weigh a lot more than others who wear the same size. No biggie though!!
  7. Sometimes you wake up and realize that your life is but someone else's dream. If life is but a dream, I want it to be MY dream. I'm changing my career path. I want to work as a bariatric or obese patient nutritionist and personal trainer. :-) First stop is goal for myself!!

Weight Loss & Obesity related TV Shows

Here's another show I like: http://www.mystyle.com/mystyle/shows/toofatfor15/index.jsp Too Fat for 15... So sad to see such young kids going through this. I forced myself to not be like this when I was that age. I was ridiculed as a child for being a little overweight by someone who was supposed to be a father to me. So, it transformed into an eating disorder just to not hear the ridiculing anymore. The new season my be starting soon, and it will be interesting to see how the children are doing!

    18 year old sleeve surgery

Anytime! I'm sure you will be fine. It's going to be tough, because the not eating is going to force us to take a look at ourselves from the inside out. But it surely will be worth it all in the end.

    sleeved on Sept. 17,2010

Hey Sassy, we were only sleeved a few days apart. That's cool! I also went through a very terrible stall for the last 3 weeks. I've finally broken through it thank goodness!! I started logging my food religiously again, I changed my eating plan to a more well balanced with 2 hi Protein Snacks, I started logging my workouts religiously - AND - pushing my limits in them too... those things I'd say the main contributing factors in me breaking my stall. I'm down 5 Lbs in 5 days. Nothing to sneeze at!!!

    3 days post op.

Hey Jamie, glad to see you are doing very well post op!! The pain yes is likely from gas and I even had a little bit of that myself. Of course if you feel strange about it, just be sure to contact your surgeon. Keep us updated on how you're doing!

  19. This morning I weighed in even though I'm not really supposed to. I just had this feeling... and today I am officially in the Century Club!!! I'm only 2 Lbs away from being at my lowest band weight - AND - less than 30 to hit ONEDERLAND!!! whooot!!!

    18 year old sleeve surgery

Hi Pink, wow that's great! March 1st will definitely be here fast!! Personally, it is a little emotionally draining (at least it was for me) not being able to eat normally with my family. I really missed out on eating a lot - but you know what? Losing weight during the Holidays is something worth taking away from that experience! I've never ever done that in my entire life. So, with that - I LOVE MY SLEEVE!!!

The good thing about being a slow loser

Heehee feed... I do try not to weigh when I'm not supposed to because I only get disappointed. This time it has worked in my favor!
  22. LilMissDiva Irene

I'm on the Road to Onederland!! Who's with me?

Oh boy I hope so!!! Kathy it took me 6 weeks to get out of the 230's. I went back and checked... I know I can definitely do better than that. But I changed my eating habits, started logging and making sure I'm getting all my workouts in. I've lost 5 Lbs in the last 5 days!!! Good luck!

how many times a day do you eat?

I eat 3 well balanced meals per day - and on my workout days I'll add in one Protein shake (EAS CarbAdvantage RTD) after my morning workout, and one serving of peanuts in the evening. I'm going to add some other hi protein Snacks for the evening as I'm going grocery shopping tonight. I'm going to buy some beef Jerky, greek yogurt, pistachios - things like that. It works for me! I'm never able to finish my regular meals. I never ever get seconds and I don't really time myself but it takes me about 30 minutes to eat. Once I notice I'm beginning to feel full I'll take a break for about 10 minutes then finish the rest of the protein on my plate. I'd say my breakdown is about 50% Protein, 25% Fat and 25% Carbs. I also drink about 100 oz of Water per day.

    Extreme Pigout

I totally didn't see this thread before starting the other one. However it's kinda on the same lines, but a bit different. This is about eating and way over indulging. The Man vs. food show is so disgusting and I want to vomit when I happen to see it's on. I honestly can not figure out why he isn't 500+ lbs eating like that. He must burn 10,000 calories per day to be able to stay at his current weight, which honestly he can stand to lose some. Not only that, the quality of food he's eating... he's gotta be only a blink away from a stroke or heart attack... so gross!!! I'm personally not, I'd say, disgusted with seeing super or morbidly obese people. I'm more along the line of feeling sympathy for them. I'm so wishing I could just walk right up to them, hug them and say "there is hope for you!!!" That would be incredibly rude though, and I wouldn't dare, but still... The response would always be, "well, i'd never cut my stomach out!!!" Really though, that sort of lifestyle is way more dangerous than having surgery will ever be. I can only hope that someday they get fed up and say enough's enough. That's what I did. I have set a recording for the Extreme Eating show!! That does look very interesting. I'm also so very fascinated by certain addictions. I like the show about weird addictions too... like the one coming up where this lady is addicted to eating pillow cushions... I mean... really???
