    Dr. Aceves technique

I totally agree. I know he does the oversew, etc... but I can tell you that my stomach is something special. I can't eat chips/candy anymore - so that to me is a MIRACLE! My stomach just doesn't like it, I can't really explain why. Do I think this will happen with all Dr. A's patients? Absolutely not, but I know it did with me. I can't eat very much anyway, but to take those away I know I will make goal. Maybe not as fast as others here or in the sleeve world, but so what? I have absolutely no doubt at all I will get there.

    Introduction

:welcome: The time is going to fly by. It's so hard to wait for something you know will make your life so much better - but like mommy2girls mentioned you can use this time to make some good healthy changes and habits. scale back the sodas and caffeine. Learn to take tiny bites and make a small meal last at least 30 minutes. Cut back on the carbohydrates (especially bad carbs) and get used to more lean Protein and fresh veggies and some fruits. Start up a light exercise routine (especially walking)... I cannot say enough about this and how much it will make the weight melt off! Start drinking more Water and get up 64 oz per day or more. These will all be things that you'll need post op and will keep the weight coming off. I can tell you will do really good with this. Stay positive and keep coming here for info and friendship. Hang in there! It just keeps getting better and better!!! :whoo:

    Miss my insulation

That is AWESOME!! Congrats on your success!! I doubt you really want the insulation back. I know I don't! I do miss it though when I'm always FREEEEEZING... don't know what that's all about. Get an electric blanket. Those things really keep me toasty. :-)

    My Journey with Sleeve Gastrectomy

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your story! I can already tell you will be someone who would be admired here. I hope you continue to share updates with us. All the best to you!!!
  7. haha I do not doubt this. You're body got confused by the extra calories, carbs & fat probably. Then going back to the normal routine should ride out even a few more pounds. Good for you!
  8. When I stalled for 3 weeks in a row (and each week I did lose but it was so little to me that is a stall) - I started logging my foods religiously, started incorporating more healthy carbs to my diet, and started bumping up my workouts. It worked. I've lost 10 Lbs in the 2 weeks that followed. I haven't lost any since that 10 lbs but it's because of mother nature, which is fine. Enjoy your successes! I honestly think this is the first time in my life that I've gone this amount of time with such consistent weight loss, besides my band where I was losing for the first 5 months. I'm almost there now and I really don't see me changing anything up. Keep in mind too, you will just have to find the winning combo for you as far as diet and exercise. Also, most everyone goes through a stall at 3 weeks out, so you might just need to wait it out. Good luck!

    from sleeve to bodybuilder

Good idea!! I love to workout, and I love toning as well. I do toning exercises twice a week and the session lasts about 1 1/2 hours. My skin is bouncing back really great and I know its because I have really good skin, and I'm doing what I can to keep my muscles looking good. Not bad for someone who used to weigh 330 lbs!!

    Weight Gain

I'd say she really needs to contact her surgeon about this. The reason why surgeons want us to lose pre surgery and to keep it off is because they want the keep the liver at a reasonable size. It's really hard to maneuver tools around with a fatty liver in the way. This is why I always discourage pre-ops to NOT do the last meal thing (as long as it's not more than one meal). It's not a good idea to gain significant weight days before surgery. Tell her good luck from us. It's best to be honest and open with her surgeon though, prior to having surgery. I've even heard of some surgeons calling off the surgery right in the middle of it due to the liver being way too large.

Official Ongoing Gastric Sleeve Maintenance Thread

Hi Daisy! I know I'm nowhere near goal, so I probably shouldn't post here. Anyway I just wanted to tell you that I know working out with a personal trainer will get you back to where you're more comfortable *for sure*. Good for you on taking that step! I think that is the most important thing when trying to maintain. Realizing when you've hit your personal roof and doing something - ANYTHING - you need to do to get back in check. Props to you!! Also, you have been the one person who finally convinced me to once and for all get this done, so THANK YOU!! I have total faith in you.

I've been eating Greek yogurt for so long

BevMo! also sells the Torani SF syrups. They have all kinds of flavors, I have six at home right now - in case anyone has this retailer in their area. I don't really eat yogurt, and I've had bottles of the Yoplait Light in my fridge. I feel bad because I don't want to eat them. They don't even taste that good to me anymore and not worth the calories and junk that its filled with. I've tried Greek Yogurt and didn't really care for it. It seemed chalky and that kind of texture always yucked me. It's worse now post surgery. I guess I just won't be eating yogurt ever anymore. I used to really like it a lot so it's just strange to me to not eat it anymore. My tastes has changed a lot since surgery - I've noticed. I seem to like more fresh foods too, can't deal much with canned this or packaged that. I suppose that's not so much a bad thing! Anyway, Greek Yogurt is MUCH better for you than Yoplait - that is true. Great idea on thinking of getting your daughters to switch over.

Does anyone else need carbs to lose?

Absolutely yes. I always say, every BODY is different. I do need to eat some carbs to lose weight. I do not lose well on 30g per day or less. In fact I wasn't losing anything on that. I lose excellently well with around 60-100g per day. As soon as got my goals back up to that I've lost 10 lbs in 2 weeks. It just works better for me. If its working for you and your Dr. recommends it - then stick to your current routine and plan. All the best!!!

I've been waiting to say this...

COOPS!!! YAY CONGRATULATIONS!!! I knew it would be any time. :-) You look amazing!! Are you sure you're only half way? You don't look like you could lose another 50... but that's just me. Regardless I'm sure you will make all your dreams come true. :D

    Carbs!

I'm half Filipina too, and I do believe that the first real food I was ever fed was rice. That goes for everyone in my family!! It took years to get over the white rice thing. I only eat brown rice now and not even that often. I couldn't even really eat carbs for the longest because my tummy just couldn't hold it and even made my stomach feel a little funny. I can now, but still not very much. Good luck! Just give it some time and things will slowly but surely bet back to normal.
