    Introduction 275 to lose

WELCOME Jenny!!! Thanks for sharing your story with us. You will love your sleeve if you are anything like me. It's truly the one best thing I've ever done for myself. You have your work cut out for you, 30 Lbs is a good amount. However I know you can do it! One thing that has worked well for me is walking... that is my fall back workout and as long as I'm doing this, I'm losing weight. Good luck and many blessings on your journey ahead. Read up here as much as you can, and don't be afraid to ask all the questions you can think of!!!
  3. That is fantastic!!! You're really rocking that sleeve!!!

To Go or Not to Go Back to the ER

Hi Erin! I"m so glad to hear from you! It sounds like you're still going to go through quite a bit before you're 100% back on the healthy track... I'm so so sorry to hear of your issues. Big Hugs to you! Don't stress about the "whoa is me" attitude, you are going through so much right now and should be expected. Just know we are all here for you and are wishing you to get on the mend.
  6. Do it do it do it!!!! It's the BEST feeling!! I think I'm even more excited than when I hit Onederland! :-) I know you can, hugs!!

Should I tell people that I am getting WLS?

I chose only to tell those in the beginning that had a real interest in whether I lived or died really. That included no one at work except 2 of my closes confidante's which I trusted them 100%. The reason is that I've gone through this before. I had the lap band and I told *everyone* about my surgery. I was not expecting for it not to work for me, so when I started to struggle and gain my weight back it became a real nightmare for me. I just didn't want any added pressures, I wanted to focus on my weight loss, and that alone. The only other folks that knew were other WLS people - ppl I'd been conversing with for several years. However, now that I'm almost finish with my journey, I'm pretty much open to answering completely if someone asks how I did it. I've gotten a few strange responses but I really don't care too much. The sleeve worked for me and it saved my life!! How can I *not* be proud of that? Most people are very encouraging and are happy for my success. Knowing this though, I still wouldn't change a thing. I liked going through my journey in the beginning without all the "how are you doing's" or "how much have you lost now" or any other silly questions that always seem to play a role when others know I had WLS.

Guess I need some new goal pants, huh?
  12. I'm happy for how far I've come, but to be real I do feel like I'm mourning a little too. The old me and especially when I have to let go of some of my favorite clothes. I have on a pr of 14 Levis and I LOOOVE these jeans, make my booty look so cute, but I just realized its time to give em up... :-(

I fit my goal pants already...

No I do have skin issues, just not a whole lot I guess. It's still enough where I'm going to get it fixed someday. That's going to be another 10Lbs loss too right there... lol No secret seriously. I do workout but mostly it's running/walking/cardio. I don't do a lot of weights and I do toning 1-2x per week. I gain muscle very easy so I stay away from it too much. That might be what helps with the skin, my muscle tones. Either that or just plain luck.

    Chicken salad - fail :(

Ohhh didn't think of *that* kind of chicken salad. Either way - it's probably best to just wait it out to try it again. It could be the Mayonnaise, I was sensitive to a lot of fatty ingredients early out. It does make sense too. Our sleeves make the rules now!!

I fit my goal pants already...

Thanks sleeve family!!! @Leslie, you are here... don't be silly!! @feed, good idea! I will wear those on our get together. @Disney, yep better stop at Kohl's... heehee @Sarah... you're sooo funny!!! Luv ya girlie!! @SS - it is true, I've always been heavier than others who wear my size. It used to play head games with me, but I'm trying to learn to accept it. I still want to get to 165 which is about 30 Lbs from now. I wonder what size I'll be then or if I'll even get there... we'll see. @phish - at my heaviest (330 Lbs.) I was in a 28W/3X. At surgery (272 Lbs.) I was a 24W/2X. @S4M - I'll tell you this, if I feel like I'm losing too much booty I'll just have to say I'm done... I really like the way I look now, but I don't want to be anywhere near the 2's so I'm going to keep it moving!!

    Chicken salad - fail :(

Hey there, I actually didn't start eating actual salads until about 3 months out. It takes awhile for our tummies to get used to certain foods, and everyone is different on how it responds. Give it another month and give it ago, see how it works then. Good luck!

    Would you change doctors?

I had a similar experience with my lap band Dr. He was always negative to me about everything. Anytime I felt I was having an issue he always tried to downplay it, make me feel guilty or pretend like it was all in my head. These are two different surgeries by far, but my point is this: You're surgeon is going to be the one to guide you and take care of you post op. You'll definitely need a good relationship with him and feel comfortable with him. I've learned that my lap band experience was NOT ME, and all the time I felt like such a miserable failure because I was made to feel that way. It can really get in the way of your progress and weight loss goals. This is a very serious surgery and you're going to need all the support you can get. IMO, you would be better served finding someone else, either it be there or somewhere else. Wishing you much success on your journey!
