    Reflections from a Skinny Chick

Hello. If you mean who was my doctor, it was Dr. Alberto Aceves in Mexicali at the Almater Hospital. He was an amazing man and had an amazing crew. I highly reccommend him and would go back to the Almater Hospital for any other procedure. Hope this helps.
  3. Hello, I haven't posted in a long time, but it's long over-due. First, I just want to give a big shout out to my sleeve sisters and brother, learnedtobeskinny, vegasangel, and beardeditalian! It seems you all are having great success too and I am very happy for you all! My name is Rose and I was sleeved in July 2009 by Dr. Aceves. I started at 271 and today I am 175. I have reached my personal goal in only 9 months! Things have changed so much, so very fast. Sometimes I just can't believe it myself! And my surgery has turned out to be such a success that it has inspired my mom and aunt to pursue getting bariatric surgeries too. Let me just say, that my mom gave me the most horrible time when I told her I was getting the sleeve. She was against the surgery and against going to Mexico. But here I am today, getting ready to send her off on her very own weight loss surgery journey. I can now wear clothes that I haven't been able to wear in over three years. It's the clothes I wore when I first met my husband, and that makes me feel so good! I just want to say to anyone who is considering this surgery to go for it! There will be good days, and there will be bad days. There will be emotionally happy days, and emotionally terrible days. For example, I was so depressed Christmas Day because I couldn't eat as much as I wanted to. But the results are real and life-changing. Take your life back and do it for yourself! May God bless you all and give you the courage and strength during your journerys.
  4. Hi Sleeve Sister!

It's been so long. You look fantastic! I hope all is going good for you! I've lost about 96lbs. It's hard to believe sometimes. Hope to hear from you soon.

    Love Rose

  5. Hey Sleeve Sister!

How are you doing! It's been a long time. I saw your picture. You look amazing! I have thought about you a lot. I am so happy for you.

I've lost 96lbs! I can't believe it. I have just about 10lbs more to go. It is amazing that only 9 months ago I weighed about 100lbs more.

I'm so sorry I haven't been in touch. I lost my cell phone which had your number. But we just got a new computer and I can get online again much easier.

Hope to hear from you soon.

    Love Rose

    first time barfing...

I am almost 4 months post-op and I barfed for the first time from eating a few days ago. I tried eating a chili cheese dog. It did not go down well at all. I barfed it up right away. Your right, its not like the usual barfing. I think it was more nausea for me than anything. I think I ate too fast and it nauseated me so bad it just all came up.

    Reflections from a Fat Chick

Hi everyone, I'm down 65 pounds! I can't believe it. And its only been 4 months! It is amazing to me how the tables have turned so quickly for me. Before, I'd constantly be getting comments like, "how's your baby" or "when are you due?" Now I'm getting my co-workers coming up to me saying things like, "why are you losing so much weight? Are you doing it on pirpose or are you sick?" No joke, in the last two weeks, three different people from work have approached me asking if I am sick becuase I'm losing so much weight. Maybe the tables haven't turned; I can't tell if it is a negative vibe I'm receiving or a concerned one. I can imagine that it must be a shoke to some how I have just evaporated. 65 pounds in 4 months is a lot. I don't know what to think of it. But I can honestly say, I don't like being the topic of discussion in the lunch room when I'm not around.

    Reflections from a Fat Chick

One more thing. Sorry to be so graphic, but my bowel movements are terrible and anything but normal. I'm LUCKY to get a movement once a week, and when I do, it is very painful. The cramps and contractions I get are tear-wrenching. Anyone else get this. What can I do to regulate my BM. Thanks.

    Reflections from a Fat Chick

Hi everyone, Down 59 lbs :-). Yesterday was my 3 month anniversary. I got really sick with the flu for a couple weeks, but I feel much better now. My fat pants don't fit anymore (in fact, they fall right off buttoned-zipped and everything), but at the same time, any smaller pants I have don't fit quite right either. I think it's my sagging stomach skin. Anyone else have this problem? Another question for you all. Has anyone experienced bad mood problems. Lately I have been really irritable. I get mad very easy over stupid things. I heard that mood swings tend to happen after surgery because of hormonal fluctuations. Anyone else have this? Thanks.

    Reflections from a Fat Chick

Hi everyone, Its been a while since I last posted. I've been doing okay; I have okay days and not-so-okay days. I started working full time again about a month ago (I'm a teacher). Let me tell you, that kicked my butt. I'm tired all the time and feel neauseated and sick a lot. But I do believe that I'm still healing and adjusting from a huge surgery- although it feels like a YEAR ago, its only been two-and-a-half months since my surgery. And I'm down 51 pounds! I looked in the mirror the other day and saw my collar-bones again. That made me feel good. My fatty fat fat fat clothes are falling off of me, but I still have to make myself try on some of my smaller clothes to see if they fit. I guess I don't want to because I still think I'm too big to fit in any smaller clothes. I have a hard time with eating. I still eat too fast or too big of bites. And unfortunately, I do not enjoy food much any more. There have been some days where I soooo wanted to just eat and be comforted, but I couldn't, and it made me sad. But I knew this would happen, and I just dealt with it- but it is hard! Like I said, I'm only 2.5 months out, and I believe this will get better, so I am just trying to do the best I can until then.

    Over Did it...

I get the stuck feeling to. I was thinking that I get it when I eat too big of bites or maybe when I eat too fast. I also get another pain in my chest, right where I get the stuck feeling, but its not the "stuck" pain. Its more of a discomforting feeling than actual pain. Sometimes it feels like my heart is beating fast. I think it might be gas, but am not sure. The only thing I can do is lay down and wait for it to pass. It has been waking me up at night the last couple nights. Does anyone else experience this?

    Unbelievable that I did this!!

Right now I am at the place where I am still learning to eat. I tend to eat too fast or too big of bites and get the stuck feeling. Then I just lose my appetite and don't want to eat period. However, I did go to the fair yesterday and had a few bites of a cheese pizza (couldn't finish it), a couple bites of a cookie (didn't WANT to finish it -wow!), and sugar free Hawaiin Ice. I had all these things spread out through a few hours though). Honestly, I felt no guilt because I ate sooooo much less than I have ever had before at a fair. I am still in awe at how little I eat.

Do we always have to talk about the sleeve?

I definitely am getting a Tummy Tuck. I've always wanted one because I loathe my pooch tummy and it is something I truly long for. I also may get a breast lift (and maybe implants). My hubby kids around with me and says he wants me to get size D's (although I bet he's only half kidding .

do you FEEL like you have to pee

Okay- here's another question. Has anyone had a urinary infection since the surgery, and if so, have you felt any of the symptoms? I am proned to urinary infections (most likely from sex). I am wondering if I have one now because of an odor I smell that I have smelt when I've had infections (sorry to be graphic). But here's the thing, I don't feel any symptoms of a urinary infection. In the past, I'd be in pain when I'd pee and I'd have to pee every 2 seconds. But I feel nothing now. I'm wondering if all my nerves are shot and I just can't feel if something is wrong down there.
  15. Hi, I have a question. Ever since my surgery, I have not felt the urge to urinate. Before, in the mornings, I'd always have that pushing feeling on my bladder that told me, "uh-oh I've got to pee." But since my sleeve, I have not once had that feeling. Maybe I'm not drinking enough, but I do drink right before bed, and after 6 - 8 hours of sleep, I feel like I should FEEL like I need to pee, but don't. I guess you could say I just KNOW when to pee, but never get that push on my bladder. Is this normal?
