My name is Kelley, I am just starting on my journey, I will be having my surgery October 15, 2013. I am looking for input from those of you who have gone before me so please give me any advice you can..... After a lot of research I have decided on Dr. Pedro Kuri. I will be honest and tell you the main thing that drew me to him was the price. I have thought about this surgery for years and hoped I would never come to the point where I would need it. I reached that point this year after struggling for my whole adult life with weight. This year I hit 200 pounds and I was devastated. With winter coming on I knew it was only a matter of time before I would really need to consider an alternative. In the winter I can easily add 10 to 15 pounds. My cholesterol is out of control, I have a hard time walking because of feet problems so we took up biking. I love biking and we have had some great times but the weight does not come off. In fact during this time I have increased in weight. I am sure I am not saying anything that everyone else has not felt. I talked to my personal doctor about the surgery and was told that I just don't weigh enough and they like to do the surgery on more obese patients. I am obese and my BMI is very high. So I started looking into the surgery and knowing I could not afford the cost in the united states thought I was out of luck. I have to admit I was a little taken aback when I saw the ad and then laughed out loud when I saw it was in Tijuana. No way am I going there, are you kidding me???? Well I put in an e-mal to find out the price and JoAnn with Dr. Kuri's office called me and we talked. I was really impressed and she put me at ease right from the start. Everything I have read about Hospital Angeles and Dr. Kuri have all been positive. My sister and mother and especially my husband have been very supportive but they are also asking the hard questions: can you really live like this for the rest of your life? I seems so drastic. Are you going to loose all of your hair? These are questions I will have to refer to those of you who have had the surgery. I know it is all about healthy eating but any advise you can throw my way will be beneficial. I am looking forward to your help. Thank you, Kelley
