I found out in the er last week my port has flipped. I had too much fill. I had 10.6 in my 10cc band. I was band Sept 28,2013. I've had to go in almost ever week for a fill. I tried to call my surgeon to see what need to be done. That was Thursday morning and I still have not heard back from him. My family is pushing to find another baratric Dr. I'm so confused and discouraged.

Had to have decompression in the ER. The intern that did it could not to my port site. He said the sutures didn't stay y O hold port in place. He dug around with the longest needle for an hour. I kept telling him I had never had anything done without the fluroscop.he finally called radiology and when he came back said it would be 30 min and he was going to keep trying. Even numb he went so deep so many time I felt it. My question is what can they or will they have to do to flip my port back around?

I was afraid that's what would happen. I know if I have to have surgery my husband will say just remove it. He has been very supportive, but this plus all the fill I have had is a lot of maintaince. I thought I would need a fill once a month or less. I had surgery 9/28 and have been every week since 11/1 for a fill.

I too got a fill Thursday. Did fine up until yesterday when I went from liquids to have a small amount of chicken. I eat, it comes up, I drink it comes up. Decided to call the Dr and he lecture me I didn't follow the proper steps. I understood liquids for two days and that's what I did. So, I was suppose to do clear liquids for two days, liquids for two days, soft for two days a d then back to regular diet. I'm disappointed I may have to have a decompression if I don't get some relief. Any suggestions how to get this band to relax so I can at least get liquids down without the decompression?

Does Your Band Get Tighter A Few Days after Your Fill
jammiebp replied to dmh102's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My Dr tells me there is no limit as to how many or how often I can get a fill. Banded Sept 30th, had my first fill Nov 1st and I've had at least 10 fills since then. Last week I had a fill and is at 10cc in my 10cc band. I'm having no restriction at all. I have in the past gotten a little restriction a week or two after I've had it. I'm so discouraged. How much more will they be able to put in my 10cc band. -
I have been stalled for three months. I had a fill this past Friday. I have a 10 cc band and now have 10cc. I'm not feeling anywhere close to the restriction when I had 9.8cc and went to the 10cc. Is it possible it can take a few days to kick in?

So I confused on the signs I need an adjustment. I eat something's fine in day and the next it's getting stuck. I'm afraid if I go get it and end up too tight that's a whole other issue. Can anyone share an a answer to this? I feel like I'm eating for than I should and it's been 3 1/2 weeks since my last adjustment. Is it possible for it to get tighter this far out?

Had a fill two weeks ago. Seems like two weeks later I have more restriction than when I got it. Is that possible and how/why? I feel like I'm in a green zone. Can someone tell me how I will know?

Thank you for your advice. I'm a. 9.2cc in a 10cc band. I was a 9.6 and too had to have some removed. I think I'm just paranoid as I e not lost anything in three weeks. I'm just going back to the basics and see what happens. I'm close to goal (about 20lbs away) and have had people tell me that's the hardest to loose. I hope you hit your green spot when you see Dr today.

I had a stomach bug a couple weeks ago and went through same thing. I was told it was swelling from throwing up. They actually had to take some fill out to allow swelling to go down. They also said the drainage from a cold or sinus can have an effect on the band as well. Once they relieved the pressure swelling went away in a couple of days.

Depressed, discouraged. No Weight Loss, Hungry, Help!

I still eat and it goes down. Dr was surprised too. The things I shouldn't eat are the ones that give me trouble, which in my case is great for me. -

You may be in the group I'm in. I require a lot to feel restriction. I was depressed like you when I first got mine. My Dr wouldn't do a fill till I was six week post-op. I had to go every week the first two months of my fills. I also followed the advise of my nutritionist. I bought clear bins for the fridge and organized my food and keep it separate from everyone else's food. Sounds crazy since it's all in the same fridge, but it real helps. -
I've seen several post that a fill make take a couple of weeks to take. Can someone please explain to me how/why so long?

I'm 5 months in 9.2cc with a 10cc band. I'm having same issues. Don't give up for some of us it just takes longer. -
I had a fill on Feb. 6th and done great until last Wednesday. Came down with the stomach bug and ever since I'm having trouble getting and keeping food down. I'm assuming my stomach is swollen and has my band tighter. Anyone experienced this before? How long before it goes down?
-
I was thinking if I had not got relief by Thursday I should go in. This is a whole new experience for me getting sick with the band. One of those questions you don't think about asking before surgery.

Premier Protein Shakes. 30g protein. They also have the bars that have 30g of protein.

Was hit last night with the awful stomach bug that's going around. Hit all at once and stomach burned like crazy. The thing is only the horrible tasting bile came up. This was a first since I got my band in Sept. Is this normal when you get a bug? Once food passes through the band can it not come back up and that's while it was only the bile?

I was the same way after a couple of fills. Now with a good fill I do have to sip water and other beverages.

My port is on my left side just below my ribs. I the chest does seem odd. Did they explain why there ?

Each time I get a fill they say nothing but liquids for three days. Why do they say this? Is it possible it will stretch out the band ?

I've been through the same thing. Had surgery this past Sept. Start of Nov I went every week for fills. After about three to four days it's like I never had surgery. Last trip got a fill so tight I went three weeks keeping nothing down, not even water. Went two and a half weeks ago to have some removed. I admit it felt good to eat and drink. Making an appt this week for more fill to be put in. It always feels right when they do it but then the swelling goes down and I'm right back to eating. I feel your pain & wish you luck

I measure my food and use a phone app called Fitness Pal. It helps me track my water ,protein & calorie intake. I find very helpful, especially tracking my progress. Good Luck!
