  1. Dave: Banded same day as you. Some things same/some different. Actually on Day 1 they gave me soup, juice and ice cream at the hospital for dinner. Lots of meds but I never had the shoulder pain. Definitely had the lung 'tightness' and after reading on the board about the breathing excercises, that has helped a lot. Day 2 had broth and a mediocre EAS vanilla shake. Some pain, but better. Day 3 I tried some egg drop soup (protein and broth, right?) and have had no problems. Trying to just have a little. Was concerned about the chunks, but have been tolerating it well. Weight Watcher pop for dessert. Feeling good today. No pain meds needed and the gas has been helped by the Gas X, also recommended by others on the board. Bottom line, it sounds like the two issues you are having (Gas and Tightness) are fixable (at least they were for me) but it sounds like you are doing pretty good. By the way, to all of the posters, this board has helped me a lot. Thanks to all who are posting and soon to be losing a lot of LBs. Best wishes to Tracy in getting thru her bad day. Cred

    For Just Us Guys

Helvez: I will tell you that I would not want to drive a trip like that today, two days after my banding. While everything went well, I used painkillers yesterday and you should not drive (I got the impression that you would be doing the driving) while on the painkillers. Too long a trip in my humble opinion. What does the doc say? Good luck. Cred
  3. Cred here: Banded yesterday morning @ 7:30 am. Everything went well (apparently). I did have a hard time catching my breath after coming out of the operation, but after that the morphine kicked in nicely! I had a swallowing test (barium) yesterday afternoon and passed, and had dinner of strained soup, juice and ice cream at the hospital last night. Pain has been manageable. Not too bad. I came home an hour or so ago and am feeling pretty good. Planning to go to work on Monday. I have pain meds but haven'tfelt the need so far today. A couple of comments on a previous post or two: - My doctor was pleased to hear the gas 'rumbing' in my stomach this morning. Said it was a good sign. - Does egg drop soup count as a 'strained soup' for week one? - I was glad to stay overnight at the hospital, but I'm happier back at home now. - My insurance (UHC) approved my surgery in less than a week with no hassels. Just FYI. - I'll try to post one if those cool meters that everyone seems to have to see how my wieght loss goes. Later: Cred
  4. Hi: I'm going in for my band tomorrow at 5:30 am! Wish me luck. I've been through all the tests (7 or 8 of them) and it took a long time but now I'm here and it seemed to sneak up on me anyway. I'm scheduled to stay one night at the hospital, which I am happy about. I've only told two people about what I am doing so I thought that I would announce it here. I've lurked on this board for a while, so now that I'm going in tomorrow, I thought that I would register and connect with some of the nice people here. Oh well. We'll talk to you all soon. Cred

    Tomorrow

Well, thanks for the encouragement. Not really too stressed, although we'll see how I am tomorrow morning. As far as the post - op diet, it looks like this: Week 1 - Clear liquids and add full Liquid Protein sources Week 2 - Puree/Blenderized foods Week 3 - soft/ground foods Week 4 - chew, chew, chew... Seems more aggressive than some of the diets i've seen here. I'm good with that. Talk to you soon...
