I have been over weight since childhood. I was on every diet you can imagine. My father was a diabetic for 20 years and passed away at the age of 70 from it. I saw what he went through and I said to myself it's time to make a change once and for all.

A friend of mine had the surgery and I was truly amazed by his results. He lost about 100 lbs in a year! I said maybe this will help me. I went and spoke with Dr. Davis's team. I had lap band surgery on Nov. 7th,2006. That is where my journey started.

I had to keep reminding myself that the lap band was a tool not a cure. The first year I must admit I was being pretty stupid and not really taking this seriously. My husband one night finally said to me "you made me watch them take you away on a gurney for surgery and now you're really not going to follow through?" I am so thankful for my husband saying that to me. The next day I really started.

It took some time for everything to click for me but it certainly did. I started my journey weighing 238 lbs. and am currently at 141. My goal is 135! I am almost there! I never ever thought that I would ever be this successful but I can proudly say I am. I am still a work in progress but will get there!
