Yeah, what did you eat? I'm 11 days post op and I get hiccups if I drink too much water.

Maybe postpone is a better word. Work on what you need to and revisit this later. I wasn't ready the first time (about 5 years ago).

3 weeks weight loss question
LuminousLife replied to scottybindy's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I'm almost 2 weeks out and I lost 17 my 1st week and nothing since. You should pbe able to gradually eat more. I went from being able to do 1 bottle of water a day and now I can do 2 plus a protein shake. I was told once you reincorporate real food (oh I am dying for an egg!!!) the weight loss picks up again. Can I ask your starting weight (mine was 230, cw 213)? Some people have said lower bmi's stall more often. -

Day 11: A good pain free day (aside from that large incision site). I have 3 days until I move onto the next phase and I am more than ready. I have never been so excited to eat an egg! No weight loss in the last 3 days. I know it will come when I can get some more food in and move more comfortably to do some exercise. -
This is a question for the veterans. I am 8 days out so as you know my life is baby sip, baby sip, baby sip. Will I ever take a normal drink of anything or is it a life of sips?

My doctors told me the opposite. They said to focus on water 1st as dehydration can lead to serious issues. I'm 11 days out and I average 32oz h2o, 8 oz tea, 8 oz protein shake. I had to work up to that. The 1st week I was lucky to get 1 16oz bottle of water in. It will come in time.

I need some ideas of what to add to my cream of rice supper supper tonight. I'm day 10 so my diet is still pretty restricted. I was thinking of adding a sprinkle parmesan cheese but I'm not sure if I can have that????

I added the parm and some seasonings. I couldn't only fit 2 teaspoons but it was divine! -

Day 10, pretty good day. The only pain I have today is incision pain. I had my first experience eating out. It was my company Christmas party. I have to admit it was tough to see all that delish food being passed around. But that is why I did this. I would have eaten and eaten and eaten. I ordered tea and a nice bisque. I had a few spoonfuls and savored them. -

Happy to say I slept through the night! Thank you lord! I have no as of pain now. I also was able to get in more water yesterday. I skipped the protein shake and stayed up until midnight sipping. Prior to the other night, I hadn't had gas pains since day 4/5 so it took me by surprise. -

Day 9: No change on the scale today. Not an issue for me, just keeping you in the loop. I have always weighed myself daily, creature of habit. Anyway I had a pretty bad night/morning. All of a sudden at 3am I was awoken by a really sharp pain in my lower abdomen, followed by diarrhea (sorry to put it so bluntly). This continued for 6 hours and it was excruciating. My surgeon said that "you seem to call us every time something feels painful or unusual to you (well duh! Its my body), some discomfort is to be expected". So I did not call him about it. I have had on and off pain all day and I am convinced it is dehydration. I still only get 1 bottle of water and 1 protein shake in a day. I am striving for more H2O. So tonight I sit and I sip. I cannot handle that kind of pain again :/ -

I was fairly drugged up when they did it but it wasn't hard. They did it on the 2nd day at the hospital. It was a tiny sip and it wasn't barium it was a clearish soapy substance. Tiny sip then they let me rinse and spit. -

That was my biggest fear too. Turns out the actual surgery is the easy part. The recovery is hard. For me anyway. I'm struggling getting in my h20. You will do well I'm sure. As long as you have done your research and found a good surgeon, follow ALL pre op and post op rules you will be OK. I am anxious to see what the next few months brings. Best of luck and keep me posted! -

The biggest struggle for me pre op was the "unknown". So I felt that if I could pass my experience along it might help someone else's anxiety. -

Sore this morning but good. Stepped on the scale and had to get off and back on again because I didn't believe the number! I am now 213! (Starting weight 230) That's 17lbs in 8 days! I have not been this weight since 2010! -
OK I know pain/discomfort is expected. My gas pains are gone and I am greatful but I get sharp pains almost every time I drink anything at any temperature. Even with the tiniest sips. Its day 5 for me. Anyone else have this? When does it stop, I'm in agony.

One For The Girls, Anyone Had Their Period During Surgery?
LuminousLife replied to Sabredy12's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hahaha while utterly hilarious I would caution others not to do the same. If you had swelling during the surgery it could cut off the circulation in your legs. They would likely cut them off but it could cause damage before they figured it out.
