Thanks. Will do :-) -
OMG October 2013 Post-ops
Mid West replied to DevilBlueDress's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Oh enjoy! I keep fantasising about a jacket potato, baked for 90 mins until lovely and soft, mashed with a fork. Then add low fat spread, salt, pepper and devour (well a couple of mouthfuls anyway) lol. The simple things! -
cymbalta after surgery
Mid West replied to preopmano's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ok, I'm no expert but I take Fluoxetine. I asked my Doc about it and she showed me a visual of where different meds are absorbed in the system and these are absorbed before they hit the 'malabsorbtion' bit, if that makes sense so they were fine. As for taking tablets in general, my Docs had none of this crushed-up malarky. I was on pills as soon as the surgery was done. If they were a little bigger, like Paracetamol, I'd break them in half but they said it's fine to take pills. -
Home from Surgery - Band to bypass!
Mid West replied to Harleychic13's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi, I had my band removed and rny done last Thursday, so happy to get rid of that thing, lol. I'm 7 days out and so far (please may it continue), I've had no problems. No real pain, like you say, discomfort but not pain. Good luck with the post-op liquid diet, it's tedious and boring but all for a good reason, lol and I guess it won't last forever -
That might be it then but if it happens again, I would definitely get in touch with your health carers :-)

Brilliant, you've done so well! -
I'm about the same as you, I had my op on the 10th last Thursday. Sorry, personal question but have you been to the loo since your op? I know that can cause some pretty sharp pain if you haven't 'been' for a while.

Hi guys. I'm having either the sleeve or the bypass 10th October - my starting weight at the pre-op diet was 230lb. Just wondering what other people's SW was :-) Lx

Me too. I kept sneezing earlier today too! -
Hi im new! Band to bypass.
Mid West replied to malijah1383840067's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I wish I had done this first time round too but I thought the band was enough. It never worked. We could never reach a happy fill point between nothing going down and constant vomiting or anything going down. My recovery is going well thanks. On day 5 and not had much pain luckily. A little wind discomfort but no real pain. Bored silly with the liquid post op diet though. Cannot wait to be able to chew something lol. -

I'm so over this liquid post-op diet already and I still have another week to go! The thing I'm looking forward to most on the next stage is - an egg :-) -

Good luck Angie, and everyone else having their ops today :-) x -
Is it normal that I had a whole can of soup today with no problems/restriction? I ate slowly obviously but today was the first time that I've finished a whole bowl of soup.

Why do they tell us not to drink whilst eating?
Mid West replied to Mid West's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Great video, really makes it clear. Thanks :-) -
why are there so many "different" requirements
Mid West replied to nervous2013's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had an ECG and some blood and urine tests. No chest x-rays, sleep tests, colon tests, scans or anything else :-) I'm self-pay in the UK and I sometimes wonder if the insurance companies in the US make you guys jump through so many hoops so that there's more opportunity to turn people down - maybe that's cyncial but that's what it's like over here on the NHS. It's almost impossible to have WLS on the NHS over here. I just thank God I was able to pay for it. -
Good luck - I hope all goes well

Haha, the no liquids pre-op is bad enough - what's worse is the liquids post-op. I swear, I'm only 5 days in but if i never drink another soup or protein shake, I will not be unhappy :-)

How many nights did you stay in the hospital?
Mid West replied to kkelly37's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I stayed 2 nights which is standard in the UK. No requirement to pass gas but as the lady said above, they were very keen to make sure my pee-ing was ok. They actually measured the volume for 24 hours as I couldn't go on the first couple of attempts. -
Is it ok to take a laxative? I had my surgery last Thursday but haven't 'been' since last Wednesday. Help! :-)
-
I'm there with ya honey! I had my bypass on Thursday 10th so I'm only on day 5 of fluids but already it's getting old, lol. Luckily I only have to do two weeks before moving on to mush :-)

If someone were to ask me when the baby was due ...
Mid West posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Right now, on day 3 after surgery, I couldn't blame them if someone asked me when the baby was due. My tummy is full of air and really uncomfortable, not painful, just can't get comfy tonight. So, I'm laying here , wide awake at 3.49am UK time, stroking my tummy to ease the discomfort. When I walk I notice I'm protective of it too which just adds to me looking pregnant :-) -

Thanks ladies :-) My delivery of Gas-X came today from the States, we dont have it over here. That should do the trick! I've warned the others in the house that it may be a windy day, lol. -
What should I expect in the process?
