    Psych Evaluation

We don't have psych tests over here. Having read this I'm glad :-)
  2. I was cleared yesterday for the mush stage. I'm on day 12 post op. I just ate 225g of mashed potato and 65g of squizzed up chicken with NO problem! This can't be right, surely??

    OMG October 2013 Post-ops

Just to add a different story, I've been very lucky and sailed through my surgery and two weeks post-op so far. I hope it continues the same way. I had very little pain and no meds since the day after I came home. A but of wind but nothing Gas-X couldn't help with :-). I was sleeping on my side on about night 6, took one week off and have been back at work this week with no problems. My nurse said some people just breeze it :-) So don't worry. For me, it was nowhere near as bad as I'd been expecting and I had a band removed at the same time.
  4. Hi. I wouldn't think you have a thing to worry about with birth / feeding. If there was an issue, our surgeons would mention it, especially at your age. Check with your team but I can't think there would be any reason to worry. It always makes me happy to see a young person like you going for the surgery. I'm 40 now and if I could save myself the struggle of weight loss / regain over the last 20 years, I would. Do it early, get rid of this issue as soon as you can and live a full, whole life :-)

    negativity

Don't leave! It's hard to read peoples comments sometimes in any forum but this us definitely the best one for RNY. Just accept that we all differ and that's what makes it so great Who is it by the way? I know it's not me bc I'm lovely lol xx
  6. Lucii, I don't know anyone else in the UK who's had a bypass. We're at other ends of the country so meeting up would be difficult. But if you want to be RNY buddies long distance, message me :-)
  7. Tizzilish, what powder do you use? I've been looking for one to add to food rather than drinking as a shake. We probably won't have it over here but I can try and get it imported. Thanks.
  8. Hi Lucii. I'm in the UK too. I buy Boosh shakes www.boosh.com who are also in the UK. Their shakes are really nice and have 14g of protein and 150 cals. Best I've found. If you use milk instead of water they are 250 cals plus whatever protein is in the milk. My team would now prefer me to get my protein from food but I have one of these for breakfast and another at night if I need some more protein. My faves are the vanilla and the chocolate but they do lots of flavours. Hope you're ok honey. Lx
  9. I think I need to buy a cookbook for those who've had WLS. I need menu ideas and a bit of education as to eating properly for protein intake.
  10. Thanks. I think that's what I did; test the pouch, forgetting those nerves aren't fully firing their signals yet. Another mistake was to prepare food thinking I'd put half of it back to reheat later I won't do that again. I'll prepare meals in the correct portion sizes.
  11. Hi. Yes 225g is 8 ounces and 65g is 2.3 ounces. My bariatric nurse suggested mashed potato for the mushy stage. I kept expecting to feel full. I thought what I'd prepared would be perhaps two meals but it didn't happen. Two hours later I feel fine. I'm scared that my eating won't be restricted! I contacted my nurse and she has told me not to worry. But I am worried.

    OMG October 2013 Post-ops

I've heard the bouts can last a while. How are you feeling now? Take it as a good sign, you're a dumper, lol. I'm worried I might be one of those who never do. Way too early to tell but I've had squizzed up prunes in juice with yoghurt three times and felt nothing. On the other hand I had a glass of milk last night and felt a wee but queasy.

    OMG October 2013 Post-ops

It could be but I also noticed upper back pain and realised it was because I was standing, sitting and sleeping differently since the op. Kinda protecting my tummy with my back bent. Just a thought. Now when I feel it, I just lay flat til it goes after a few mins.
  14. I'm hoping to go back to work for a few hours on Monday. That'll be 11 days post-op. I have no discomfort so am thinking I'll drive. It's only 15 mins each way. How long until you drove again?

    Help deciding

Hi. I almost went for the sleeve (hence my user name) but changed to the bypass. Many reasons but mostly because there's so much data behind the bypass and it's still considered the Gold Standard of WLS. I've posted here a lot about my choice but what absolutely helped me decide was the fact that there are people on this site already revising from sleeve to bypass. Good luck with your decision :-)

    OMG October 2013 Post-ops

I'm on day 8 and for the first time in a few days I've just taken some pain killers. Hopefully it just means things are healing. I sometimes forget what big surgery this is we're having!
