Eating then throwing up
Mid West replied to Amanda R's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes, see your Doc. It doesn't sound right. It sounds like how life used to be like when I had my band. -
I used to live close to London but moved to Scotland a few years ago. Do your kids like London?

Feel like I can eat wayyyy to much!
Mid West replied to Harleychic13's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes! I'm 3 weeks out today and feel exactly the same! Scary because I worry the surgery won't work but what's said above is right. Those nerves that fire full signals to the brain aren't healed yet. I'm just sticking to what the Dietician said to eat and hoping hoping hoping all will be ok. -
Anyone else still able to tolerate all foods?
Mid West replied to ChristyC23's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
The only thing I can't tolerate so far anymore is milk but I'm only three weeks out. -
I'm 3 weeks out and haven't had it yet. HATED the post-op liquids stage (wanted to chew on my own fingers, lol) but knew it was necessary to let everything heal :-)

I've had heartburn/acid reflux since I was in my teens. For the last few years, I've taken 20mg of Omeprazole a day and that sorts it. I've tested negative for H. Pylori and attirbute the reflux to being overweight. I hoped that after the bypass, perhaps it would stop but unfortunately not, so I'll stay on the Omeprazole :-)

How long before you had a 'drink'?
Mid West posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi guys. I'm just wondering how long post-op it was that you first had a glass of wine (or favourite tipple). No lectures please - I can read and I know that some Docs say up to 6 months. I'm simply wondering what people's experiences are :-) Lx -
Pre-op diet?! Venting having hard time but getting by
Mid West replied to nervous&happy's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's good to vent. We all know these things need to be done but some days they're harder than others :-) -
Havent had a bowel movement
Mid West replied to courtswartz87's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
That seem an awfully long time to go without a bowel movement. I guess if you're doctor is not too worried, then it's not a problem but if it goes on for much longer, I'd suggest it needs some investigation. Are you uncomfortable? I hope the medicine works, we don't have that over here so I take extra fibre every day. I'm still not regular but notice if it goes a few days without a BM, I do get quite uncomfortable so I try and keep it regular. I have heard of something called 'getting impacted or an impaction'. I'm not sure exactly what this is but it never sounds great when people talk about it. Let us know how you get on :-) -
How long before you had a 'drink'?
Mid West replied to Mid West's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm thinking about having a drink at a ball I'm going to next weekend. I'll be four weeks post surgery too. -
We've all had years and years if the 'diet' mentality. A diet for me is unnaturally restricting food consumption for a limited amount of time. RNY surgery frees us from this thinking. We are human, we will fall off, we will do dumb things and not just with food, lol. This surgery gives us a tool to be able to live our lives and make the odd wrong choice without feeling like we've blown our latest attempt to 'diet'. You'll be fine :-)

OMG October 2013 Post-ops
Mid West replied to DevilBlueDress's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Hi Lynn. We're about the same. I'm band to RNY too. I'll be three weeks on Thursday. I feel ok, bit of a sharp pain in my tummy sometimes which I think is wind :-) I have a little nap most afternoons after work and felt tired yesterday doing a grocery shop but that's all to be expected. I hope you start to feel normal again soon. Can I ask you what you're eating? I mean how much. I'm on the mushy food stage and just ate a two egg omelette. Is that too much? I feel nicely full but not overly and not sick :-/ -
Family is still suffering from complications of RNY

Wholeheartedly agree! -
tomato/tomato products...
Mid West replied to Jen_Bach's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've not been told to avoid tomatoes, or any foods except for the potential dumping ones. -

Nausea kicking in at 2 weeks post?
Mid West posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Is this normal? I've eaten twice since late afternoon and both times I've felt nauseous afterwards. I've had no problem up until today. Has this happened to anyone else? -
Nausea kicking in at 2 weeks post?

Just tried lactose free milk. Tastes the same and seems all clear in the nausea front so far :-) -
I just had to eat very low fat for two weeks.

Nausea kicking in at 2 weeks post?
Mid West replied to Mid West's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks guys. No nausea today thank goodness. I think it might be milk that makes me feel bleugh! -
Good luck to all of you guys. I keep thinking of you UK Molly, remembering yours is on the 6th :-)

I'm 16 days post surgery and for the last couple of days have been feeling some discomfort on the lower left side of my tummy. I felt it today and can feel a small lump. I looked it up and it seems textbook hernia. Anyone else had one post op?

New, nervous, excited could use support
Mid West replied to nervous&happy's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If it helps , I took Sanatogen A-Z every day before my surgery so after I just switched to the same but chewable as they're quite big. I'll go back to the normal ones when these run out and maybe just break them in half to take them. -

Turn The Page. Moderate your language. The girl has a perfectly normal question and that's what this forum is for. I learned most of what I needed to know from here. What I would not have needed is an answer telling me I'm obviously not ready bc I don't know the answer to a simple question. Maybe her team haven't mentioned it. Like I say, that's why we're here!
