Tomorrow Is My 2Nd Weigh-In
Mid West replied to Mid West's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks :-) Everything over here is going towards KG and I really don't understand that, lol. When they weigh me, I have to convert it on my phone before I have any idea how much I've lost :-) Just one more of the joys of getting into bed with Europe, lol. -
I contacted my Doc at 5 weeks out to ask if I could have a glass of wine as I was going out for the evening and she said it was fine and just suggested that I put some ice in the glass or drank water at the same time. They're much less strict with us over here I've noticed.

Chicken is still my Kryptonite!
Mid West replied to terry1118's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Isn't it funny how we're all different. Chicken and tuna are fine with my pouch. I've realised now though that it doesn't like cereal anymore, too many carbs perhaps. -

Thanks Molly. How are you getting on? -
surgery date- and now SCARED TO DEATH!
Mid West replied to anappleaday's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Don't worry Lynn. I'm losing very slowly, about 1lb a week. I'm happy with this (as long as it continues) as I could eat this way forever and don't feel deprived or as if I'm on a diet. I'm considering doing some exercise to tone up a bit. But every time you think you're a slow loser, you can be sure someone else is slower 14lb gone, 51lb to go. -

Tomorrow Is My 2Nd Weigh-In
Mid West replied to Mid West's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hello. Quick wee update. Was weighed today, lost another 5lb which makes a stone since two days prior to surgery. I'm happy with that. I don't feel deprived of anything and if I lose 1lb a week, I'll be where I want to be this time next year. I'm currently 219lb and would like to get down to 168lb (12 stone). -
Tomorrow Is My 2Nd Weigh-In

I do have one but would really like to weigh on the same scales each time. Plus the one at the surgery is so high tech, I might get a totally different reading at home. I'm happy to weigh once a month and then stalls etc shouldn't bother me too much :-) -
what pain relief can you take after bypass
Mid West replied to UK-Molly's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yay! Another person from the UK. I had no lists of do's and dont's and agree I wouldn't know half the stuff I do without this site :-) -

Hmm. Didn't happen as my nurse wasn't there. Not a problem , I'm hoping to catch up with her next week. It's weird being five weeks post op and not know if I'm losing any weight :-/ -
Is it just me or has the forum been deathly quiet since the changeover? I had to wait a while before it would let me sign in so I wonder if lots of other people are having technical problems too. :-/

Ah-Ha! How To See 'new Content' That's Only For Rny
Mid West posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Okee dokee, so remember I said in another post that when I clicked 'New Content' on the toolbar at the top and all I could see was new topics and posts from Banders? You can change this to see only new content from forums you're interested in. Click 'New Content' along the top. Then on the right hand side you'll see a list (See image 1) which says 'By Content Type', 'By Time Period' and 'By Other'. Under 'By Other', click 'Filter By Forum'. Then you'll see a long list (see Image 2) which has your preferences ticked and highlighted in pink. You have to go through and untick those you don't want (I pretty much had been ticked for all of the Band Forums so this took a while) and then tick those you do want to see new content for! Hope that helps :-) -
One Month Post Op
Mid West replied to Hollisterfan27's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I remember that stage well, it's horrible but necessary and I think I have just about recovered psychologically from the mush stage, lol -
One Month Post Op
Mid West replied to Hollisterfan27's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Me too - I'm 5 weeks post op and can eat anyting with no problem (except milk) :-) -
Anyone else still able to tolerate all foods?
Mid West replied to ChristyC23's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Yep, I can eat/drink everything except milk. I buy Almond milk now which is great. I haven't tried anything with a high sugar content, only because I don't like sweet things. But I've had no problems at all with everything else. -
I don't know what's happened but our RNY forum seems to have died since the changeover. Hardly any new content being added these days or replies being made. I'm wondering if many people have just given up. I think I might have to do the same as it's just a shadow of the great site it was before :-(
-
When I was on the mushy stage, I used to squizz up some chicken breast meat with some cottage cheese, salt and pepper. it tasted so nice (and much better than shakes) and was a real protein boost as both are a good source.
-
When I click on 'New Content' on the right - it's almost all from the 'bands' forum. I just looked again and the whole page was bands and one new topic from the 'men's room' forum ... weird.
-
Can you buy some protein shakes? It's hard but REALLY important that you get enough protein in - it's what helps your body heal :-)

What's the difference between proximal and distal RNY?
Mid West posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi guys, does anyone know what the difference between proximal and distal bypass is? -
I tried everything and thought I'd give it one more go now ... And yay, it let me in :-) What does everyone think of the new site ?
-
It seems to me that how much restriction you have following RNY is down to chance. Some people can eat no more than 2-4 ounces at a time and others, like me, can eat a whole microwave meal of 14 ounces or so. I'm really confused.
-
I wouldn't advise the band. I had mine in 2010 and it didn't work. We could never reach a correct fill point between no restriction and being sick all the time. My doctors don't even offer the band anymore as it's so out of favour. I had my band out and RNY done in 10th October. Good luck with your decision. Oh, and I was back at work a week afterwards :-)
-
I was originally going to have the Sleeve, hence the name but I actually had RNY so I want to change my name rather than keep explaining :-)
