Hi. I'm due to be sleeved on 10/10 and my starting weight is 230lb. I'm just wondering what other people started at? Lx

Hi guys. I had my op on Thursday night. They took my band out and gave me a bypass. Nowhere near as much pain as I'd been expecting - yet. All went well with the surgery so just praying for no post-op complications. Should go home later this morning. Feeling good and happy. Good luck to you you soon-to-be-bypassers :-) xx

All being well (please god, touch wood and fingers crossed), this time tomorrow, I'll have had the surgery and maybe will have even had my first walk-about. I'm having my band taken out and the rny done at 6.30 tomorrow evening. Anyone else got their's tomorrow? I'll post here tomorrow and once it's done, I'll post in the Post-Op section :-) So excited!

Thanks Molly :-) When is your date? Good ideas from everyone. Bet I take stuff to read and watch and never even get it out of the bag. Not looking forward to the next couple of days but looking forward to the end of a fight I've been having all my life :-) x -

My dietician said that there is evidence that people who go from a band to a sleeve are less successful at weight loss as those who go straight to sleeve. Anyone else heard this?

Weight loss stopped
Mid West replied to Yennydayerman's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Everything I've read says this is perfectly normal - stalls can come and go and last for weeks - but keep doing what you're doing and it will restart. I've heard people say it's the bosy using this time to regroup :-) -
Me neither, what is it?

After the fluids and mush weeks, my dietician isn't very strict or prescriptive as to what we should eat. We have guidelines of course which I'll stick to. But their thinking is that we should eat as normal a diet as possible so I won't have x amount of grams of this and y amount of that. Just an instruction to make sure I eat my protien first. The pre op diet is the same, he wants us to low fat eat food sticking to around 1000 cals, rather than liquids and again it's non prescriptive. I lost 9 stone (126lb) last year, quite quickly and put 6 stone (84lb) of it back on this year. I've always been able to lose weight but never keep it off, hence choosing the bypass over the sleeve. I'm happy to lose the weight after the surgery slowly this time, trying to eat as I will eat for my future rather than eating as if I'm on another diet - that way, the losing phase my be longer but I'll be learning how I'll be eating for the rest of my life and (hopefully, please God, touch wood), learning how to maintain :-)

Any October surgeries out there...
Mid West replied to debbiedenise's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
What was your pre-op diet? Mine was low fat, normal food, sticking to around 1000 cals a day. Didn't measure cals and may have had one or two more bowls of muesli than necessary but everything I've eaten has been low fat, zero sugar and no alcohol. I had one meal out on Friday night which didn't exactly meet the low fat requirements but still avoided chips (fries), alcohol and sugar. Thinking about doing a liquid diet (Complan/Soup etc) for the next 4 days leading up to the surgery, just to make up for any deviations on the pre-op and also to cleanse my system. -
