  1. My nutritionist advised me to start with soft foods, but not pureed foods. Just tiny morsels, the size of the tip of my pinky finger, and chew, chew, chew. I guess that makes sense, since chewing is where digestion starts. Then to swallow that tiny, chewed to applesause consistancy morsel, and wait. Wait between morsels, to make sure the first is in and going ok. She said that swallowing another bite too soon would feel awful, like a heart attack. So, I am counting down the days 'til monday, when I can see how I do with softly scrambled egg. Oh, edited to add, I asked about feeling full, because I seem to be able to keep up with the liquids just fine now, 11 days post surgery. She said that real food will be a different experience than Fluid, and at first, just a bite or two will feel like plenty. Also, not to drink 30 minutes before or after eating. Fluids move through faster, and food needs to be in there a little longer to digest properly.

    Horrible Rash

Your pictures look like the rash I get (totally unrelated to surgery) if I swim in a pool, or a hot tub, or even a hot bath. The dermatologist I saw believes it isn't the Water, but the temperature change that triggers my break outs, and he may have something right there, since if I keep my skin cool and dry it minimizes the misery. I don't recommend any medication without your doctor's input, but the dermatologist prescribed a combination of an antihistimin and surprisingly, a medication used for acid reflux. Aparently the two particular medications both have antihistimin properties. The causes might not be the same as my problem, but a dermatologist might have some ideas for you, about cause and treatment.
  3. Pick a scale you have regular access to, and ignore the others. The dr's scale will reflect the change, even if the starting point is different.
  4. I'm 2 days post op, and after one night at home, this morning was awful. Things improved a little this afternoon, I have found that position when I sip helps, standing up or sitting up very straight, rathere than slouched. Odd, but it is helping me. The sublingual tablet to quell spasms may be helping too. I took one this morning, but wretched and drooled it out. I took one at 1 this afternoon, and took a nap for an hour. Since then I have been able to get 8 ounces in during the past 3.5 hours, which is double what I could do before. TAlking seems to stimulate the spasms, so my husband is glad to shush me, for my own good, lol. I am sipping chamomile tea now, and it has been the most 'enjoyable' sipping today. Hopefully tomorrow will be better. Also, crying is not good, all the tears and postnasal stuff doesn't help, get gentle hugs as needed. Husband hugs me from behind, so there is not pressure on my tender tummy.
