New here I get my band 10/17/13
Amy Carter replied to jeep Jack's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am not a fan for broth so I used the chicken broth out of chicken noodle soup. It actually has a good flavor and it was filling. Keep going it gets better. The sugar free jello really helped also since you could "chew" it and the sugar free popsicles were great if you had the munchies. -
hernia repair with band?? Anyone?
Amy Carter replied to unbroken40's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't think my hernia added any more pain to my recovery. I really didn't have much pain just a really uncomfortable feeling. The only pain I really had was if I walked to much or if I laid back to far. I am 9 days post op and I haven't used any pain medicine since day 4 and then I was mostly just taking it at night to sleep better. I hate sleeping on my back, but I wanted to wait until my first post op dr visit before I slept on my tummy again. My best friend since surgery has been my heating pad. That works wonders on everything from pain to gas release right after surgery. -
Any other September 2013 bandsters?
Amy Carter replied to Irishflower79's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I had practiced not drinking while I was eating before my pre op diet and I did fine as long as I was not at a restaurant. My mom took me out for my birthday and I had to have a tea with my tenderloin and fries. Glad my liquid diet started the next day so the weight didn't have time to settle in from that lunch. I just started the stage of my diet where it is advised not to drink and eat at the same time. I drink a cup or tea or have a protein shake first thing in the morning then I try to have breakfast about an hour later. An hour after breakfast I either have more hot tea or a v-fusion. V- Fusions are my favorite way to get my fruits and veggies in right now. Baby food is nasty. -
Congrats on the approval. I was banded on the 30th of September so I know what you are going through very well. After the first few days the liquid diet is easy. Just remember to drink plenty of liquids and your protein shakes. The post op diet varies for everyone. Just follow it and you will be fine.

Any other September 2013 bandsters?
Amy Carter replied to Irishflower79's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I am doing fine on the portion size, but the types of food I am allowed to eat is about to kill me. I am tired of all the foods I can have. I would like to have a little bread or crackers, but I have until next week before I can have those. Guess tonight I may have some mashed potatoes and gravy and some fruit. -

If you are on liquids then i would recommend the fruit and yogurt shakes from McDonald's or sonic. -

Any other September 2013 bandsters?
Amy Carter replied to Irishflower79's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I found that out today also the hard way. I worked on homework for to long without moving around enough. I am now sitting in the recliner with my heating pad. -
I also have told everyone about getting banded and am proud to say that I have a couple other of my friends ready to take the journey also. I have told one about this site, but the other is not into computers so I didn't tell him. I know my mother and son know about the site since they have seen me on it, but they would never read what I post unless I showed it to them. I also keep my friends on facebook updated and that is how most of my family learns about what is happening with my band.

Boob pressing on incision - anyone else have this?
Amy Carter replied to aviva1979's topic in The Gals' Room
All of my incisions are near my boobs and my port is down a few inches and in the middle of my tummy. I am not able to wear a bra right now. Hoping the swelling goes down soon so I can. I might have to get a Genie and try that cause i have an incision right where my other bra band goes. if not its a good thing its jacket weather lol. -
I have been feeling good today so I worked on homework. I completed 2 discussion questions and 11 out of 16 pages on my final project for one class and I emailed the interview questions for my other classes final project so I can work on it this weekend. Now I am sitting in my recliner with the heating pad cause I might have over did it a little.

Sorry to hear of you troubles. I have heard that the gas strips didn't work so i got the chewable and they have worked for me. Drinking warm tea and broth while using a heating pad on my tummy has really released the gas. Also swishing the liquid around in my mouth before swallowing helped my thirsty feeling. Hang in there it will get better! -

Well done Go. I would have wanted to keep the cheese and nuts, but glad you were smart and got the high calorie food out of your home.

Fresh out of surgery.

Congrats on getting banded. I was banded monday so I know how you are feeling. Walking and warm broth or tea along with a heating pad works wonders for the gas pain. -

I have been enjoying my stage 2 foods puddings and tonight for dinner I am going to have a cheeseburger soup blended. Can't wait. My tummy is so happy to have some food in it instead of just liquid. -

I have not tried a bed yet. I have been sleeping in a recliner and it is much easier to get out of. How are you feeling today? I am not feeling to bad. My pain meds actually work a little on the pain. I still have some gas to get up, but warm drinks or broth along with the gas x, walking, and heating pad seems to help. I was down 2 pounds from what I gained during surgery so I know I am slowly getting better. I am hoping that I only have a few more pounds of gas and swelling weight to go. lol
