Any other September 2013 bandsters?
5.0junkie replied to Irishflower79's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
After my second fill I can definitely understand how the band works now. Things are way different than before. Had my first real stuck episode today and now I have a whole new understanding of the old saying "never bite off more than you can chew." I am finally down 40 but need motivation towards getting things moving. These joints just hurt too much still post workout. My mind is more capable than my body I think when it comes to exercise so when I do work out I push to hard then burn myself out. Need to find some balance and time cause I'm learning quickly that diet alone will not make me lose weight. I'm still eating right but Sweet Tea has gotten the best of me. I've slowed way down on my protein intake too so I've got to get back on that again. I'm staying around 70 grams but need to get back to my 120 range. -
a year ago.....things were so difficult

Congrats Sharpie and what an inspiration. Pic looks great! Tell that boyfriend that we appreciate his dedication and service to our great country. -
I would say it is normal. Not everyone experiences it but it does seen to be common. Sipping seemed to help me the most along with being up and moving around. I tried walking but fizzled out. Doing light chores around the house seemed to help me the most and it also made the wife happy so it was a win win. Good luck to you and congrats!

This is great info. I'm out of my "included in surgery" fills and will start with a new deductible next year. Until my deductible is met, my doc charges $200 for water test fills and the visit. Seems like I've got some negotiating to do.

Any other September 2013 bandsters?
5.0junkie replied to Irishflower79's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I actually just asked my doc on Monday how difficult it was to slip a band. His response was that sometimes it just happens and they don't know why. The rest of the time he said it was extremely difficult and that you would have to go to great lengths of doing things you're not supposed to, to make it slip. He made it sound like it was something that you would deliberately have to work hard at to make happen. -

All these sad faces and struggles. Come on ladies, y'all are stronger than this. Did you think the band was going to be easy? Just sit back and watch the weight disappear?? It takes effort to make this tool we have effective and I know you ladies can make it do its job. You already made the best decision in following through with forever changing your life for the better. It's basically been three months and y'all can't be getting sad already. Continue making positive impacts on your life and be happy that you've done something to improve your life for the always better. Dramatic changes won't happen over night. It's a process and it comes with gradual change. Cheer up ladies and remember why you started this journey in the first place. When I think back to where I was even 4 months ago, I can't feel anything but joyful and positive about how much my life has changed for the better, regardless of weight loss. -

Vida I'm not your doc but if I were you I'd wait another day or so. Any time we get fills or unfills our bodies have to adjust. You are going to be a little tender after the unfill. I'd be a little patient and see how you fill after another 24 hours. Just my opinion though. -

Carrie, when did you get your fill and did the problem just start? -
I'm happy about my glorious band!!! It has changed my life and and given me new found momentum in living life instead of just getting by. Already I am seeing life in a new light and am making many positive changes for me and my family. My children love my new energy and outgoing attitude. The band is to thank. Couldn't do it on my own. I too look forward to the events now that I don't have to feel like I should hide because of my insecurities and can just join in on the fun. B-52 you're not alone in feeling like shouting from the rooftop.

Any other September 2013 bandsters?

Georgia I'm shocked they only gave you .5cc. I wouldn't let them make that mistake again. Did they do a water test after the fill or put you under the scope? My doc put in fill today and had me drink water until I felt it go down. He didn't want me to not feel satisfied with my fill. I told him it didn't feel any different so he added another 1cc. That made a difference! Still getting used to it. I'm drinking slower and my shake took me 40 minutes to get down where it was taking me 3 to 4. I know things will settle in but I can already tell a big difference over my first fill. I understand next week won't come soon enough for your fill but you can make it. Just keep making good choices and don't worry about the rest. Hopefully this next fill will change the way you are feeling about your band right now and you will find some true satisfaction. Hang in there and be patient. Tomorrow is a new and different day. -
Any Ideas? Very Mild Chest Pressure Sensation
5.0junkie replied to PuraVida37's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I get the sensation as well. It's not really painful but just more of a pressure. I have found that if I drink too fast or too much, I will notice the feeling later. If my stomach is empty I will feel it. Sometimes its just air that causes it. I've never worried about it and just associated it to my new band life. I spoke with my doc about it and he said it was just relative pain from the things I mentioned above. I wouldn't stress about it but definitely at least call your doc and see if they want you to come in. -

2nd fill today. Hopefully this will change things up a bit more than fill number one did. Still losing weight and feeling good overall. Now I've got a total of 7cc in my 14cc band. I've definitely been feeling less banded the last couple of weeks than I did for the first several. Now I've just got to get motivated to exercise!! -

Yup, I'm in. Just did 30 sec with my 52 pound 6 year old son on my back. Who needs crunches when you can kill your core planking. -

What Is Skinny Anyways?
5.0junkie replied to LipstickLady's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Hmmm. Am I going to be sent to time out if I answer this incorrectly? In my younger years I would have said the 20 to 25 range but as I gain wisdom and appreciation of the finer things in life, I think the 30 to 35 is the most visually appealing. A woman should have curves.... -

I would say that guys worry about this stuff too but we may not dwell on it as much as the ladies. It seems men are much more accepted regardless of how round we are then what women are. It's sad really that image is what most women are judged on first. Men have to overcome image judgement as well but it's no where near what you ladies have to deal with. For us its more about appearing lazy or incapable of completing a task or not able to be competitive in athletics due to heavy weight. I think for women, no definition of skinny will ever be defined. It seems some thin women feel fat and some thick women feel skinny so where to do you even start to make a determination of what skinny is. As long as you're comfortable in your own skin what does it matter what others think. If your healthy and happy that's what matters most. Regardless of how big or small you are, confidence in your appearance is what always seems sexy over actually having a "sexy" body. All of you ladies have chimed in on a women's size. After looking at the pictures gamer so graciously provided us with, I'm curious what the ladies opinion of the perfect size of a man is. -
I think we experienced the same thing. I kept waiting on the misery but it never came. I knew I had over done it but I did eat mainly sliders first so I'm attributing the extra room to that. No where close to normal non banded habits but still more than you would think would fit. I began to wonder if the band slipped but reassured myself that's not easily done. So, think I'm all good just ready to start again.

Probiotics For Constipation?
5.0junkie replied to gamergirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I haven't tried the probiotic but have family that swear by them. Say they changed their life and started making things much more comfortable. Some people just don't produce enough of what their body needs and they say the Pearl probiotic is the best thing they've added to their diet. I myself use a soluble fiber in my shake daily. Helps make me stay feeling fuller longer over just my shake. -
I didn't get stuck at all and wished I would have. It was all so good my band almost seemed nonexistent during feasting time. Definitely ready to detox all the carbs again and get back to my band healthy menu again. Good thing Thanksgiving is my only time every year that I know my head may win the battle over my band. Ready to get back on track.

I will also say that I find my attitude and energy to be much more balanced. Not one extreme or the other like it used to be. My biggest non weight change though I think has been my palette. Things taste way too rich now and foods I used to hate are now delicious. Same goes the other way, foods I used to love I can't even stand to look at. Also, my appetite has changed and I just don't mean towards food. I have a healthy appetite towards life and all of its blessings.
