Bay, thanks for joining this thread. Some how I figured it wouldn't take long before you chimed in on a topic about the male package.

Any other September 2013 bandsters?
5.0junkie replied to Irishflower79's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
There's my friend Laney...Welcome! I was like you. Dragging ass and tired all the time. I'm the complete opposite now. So much energy I can't sleep. What changed for me was I started adding G2 to my drinking everyday and started not only taking my vitamins but supplements as well. I get in 20 servings of fruits and vegetables a day through supplements. Dramatically changed the way I feel. I also try to take in some V8 Splash. That's got fruit and veggie servings as well. I could just tell my body wasnt nourished so I started adding stuff till I felt like I found the right combo -

There are so many ways to get the protein. Find one that works for you and don't stop looking till you find one. You can do it Georgia! Not only does it make you feel full but have you researched what protein actually does in our bodies? It's crazy everything that runs on protein. Also, have you heard about hair loss and low protein levels? That one got me. I can't lose my locks -
just a general question about habits
5.0junkie replied to 620to?'s topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Seems like this topic has been answered very well but Ill chime in. I'm with you on being apprehensive before surgery. I didn't consider canceling but I was terrified of what my new life was going to be like. I got on this forum and started reading all the bad stuff that can happen. Funny, my doc never told me any of that stuff. Anyway, I thought very hard about what I was doing. I was scared if I didn't make a change I would fall back into my same old rut and really never change. It had happened so many times I new it would happen again. However, I am very fearful of all of the issues that come with the band. Follow me on this psychology thought process as it gets confusing here. I weighed the options of being banded or not. I ultimately decided that I was more scared of the complications with the band. So, I chose to do the band. Crazy sounding right? I knew that by getting the band I was forced to change my habits. If I don't wont the band complications to happen I have to change. It's not an option. I have to change. My old habits have to change. I have to follow the rules and change. -

Sounds like a great plan Vida. Guarantee you if you do that tomorrow will be better. You should have it within one hour of waking up. Also, be sure you are getting your vitamins in. Those help as well. Good luck -

Any other September 2013 bandsters?

Ok so get this. Just left my first post op appointment. Doc says I'm doing great and excelling better than normal. He told me to do whatever I want from here. Told me to call him up when I feel ready for my first fill. Told me to take it slow, introduce foods one at a time and keep things soft progressing to regular as I felt fit. He basically told me that no matter what he told me to do it wouldn't matter because my body is my body and it will let me know what it can handle. I'm just supposed to use my judgement and listen to my body. I'm thinking I love this guy for the freedom but it also seems like giving a fat guy the keys to the donut shoppe. Wish me luck! -

Crazy schedule, how do you manage?
5.0junkie replied to SarahRN482's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My schedule has always been crazy. There have been days where I felt like I should have a camelbak strapped on or one of those goofy hats that hold two cans. Eating was often what could be guzzled down at 70 mph on the highway. I am always on the go and pre surgery I never really thought of myself and my needs. Now, post surgery, I focus on my needs and find ways to nourish my body. No real tips or tricks I can give. Its just been reprogramming my mind that I have to take time for myself. It literally only takes minutes to get what I need. -
It's definitely the protein shake for me. If I'm late in drinking one, I'm starving. After I have one, I don't even want to think about food.

I was just thinking in the spirit of the month upon us that we should have a thread to be able to tell our scariest stories. Those stories that relate to our band or weight however. Since it gets brought up all the time but just in a different way, I thought one place to be able to read them would be good. Maybe it's the time your doctor told you if you didn't lose weight you would never see your child graduate or maybe it was a time you had a stuck episode followed by a panic attack. Hopefully this will help some people that maybe feel they were alone when whatever happened or that scary moment has only ever happened to them.

New to this site. Getting Banded on 10/14
5.0junkie replied to jakki14's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Nothing at all to be nervous about. The worst part is all in your head. You will breeze through surgery and then like many others before you'll be able to say that it wasnt that bad or as bad as you'd thought it be. I have two post op tips. First and foremost, stay connected here. The family here is a great group of people. Secondly, sip sip sip, then sip some more. That will make sense real fast once you're post op. Congrats and good luck -

Post-op constipation
5.0junkie replied to pokerkat's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Honestly this is a topic brought up all the time it seems. 6 days out isn't terrible. It's different for everybody. Most people post using Milk of Mag or Mirilax. Really just anything intended to get things moving. Try whatever you feel comfortable with. It's all the drugs and anesthetics that create the constipation and typically the drastic change in diet aids in stopping things up too. Just relax and things will get better. -
I didn't even tell my own mother I was being banded. When I mentioned it six months before my surgery date I got all kinds of grief. She had to find out from a coworker that I was even at the hospital. You never know what someone's reaction is going to be. Before banding my impression was that everyone would be negative. After banding my opinion has changed. It's not that I walk up to someone now and say "hey guess what I did" or that I wear a t-shirt promoting it, but if someone asks I tell them. If I don't, then I am prejudging them that they will be negative. So, if I don't want to be judged why is it fair for me to judge them?? If they don't like the idea I can't help that. All I can do is focus on me. Biggest fear it seems for most people is they just might find out who their true friends really are. If people judge you negatively were they really your true friend to begin with?
