  1. Ok, real talk. I'm getting a little worried. Recovery is going very well except for one thing. It's been 6 days since my bowels moved. Is this serious or should I wait it out? Suggestions on google include foods I can't eat and carbonated beverages which i can't have. I've tried to increase my walking a little and my water intake but no go. Also, today is the first day I can eat but I was worried that would make things worse instead of better. Nonetheless, Ate an egg with some cottage cheese (about a half cup total food) about 2 hrs ago and now I just feel nauseous. Feels related to the bathroom issue as things are definitely moving, just not reaching the required destination so to speak? Lol. And i'm afraid to strain so soon after surgery since i also had a hiatal hernia my surgeon found and had to repair at the same time. Help. Can't really call my doc til Monday. Thanks guys. I know it's not the greatest topic for conversation.

    Insurance criteria help needed.

Are you sure it's medical supervision required for 3 years? That's 3 continuous plan years. Your benefit is likely to change in that time. My requirement was just to write out a 3 yr history with results and then go through a 6 month supervised diet plan which I did with my surgeon's on site nutritionist. Look at your benefit again. It may just be asking if you were on anything supervised in the last 3 yrs. I work for a medical ins company and i don't think they can require you to complete anything that takes longer than the benefit plan year unless they are calling it pre-existing? Which is usually one plan yr. If 6 months is the correct time, then I also suggest waiting til you're made aware of your benefit for next year and that the band is still covered with the same requirement. This usually happens around November for employer group health plans. Some in my surgeons office started their 6 month requirement around August last year only to find the benefit was excluded this year and they couldn't have surgery. Alternatively, i made my Feb 2013 appt in Dec of 2012 and expected to be banded in Feb or March only to find that my ins company added the 6 month requirement as of Jan 2013. So my authorization did not come through til the end of Aug and I just had my procedure done on Sept 30. It's a long process but you can make it. Use your supervised time to try to learn new eating and fitness habits and drop some weight. It'll be less weight to worry about after surgery. Good luck. I hope all goes well.

    Banded-Day 6

I got my band the same day as well. My pain med is a Lortab elixir with Acetaminophen. I sit stoned for two hrs and then sleep for two hrs with every dose. Went off of it for daytime a few days ago and just take it at nigh now. I'm feeling much better. If you're having the same issues, maybe it's time to stop taking yours too. You should be able to tolerate some pain by now. Walking helps. Or maybe you could use just Tylenol during the day now without the narcotic. I hope you feel better soon.
  4. Day 6. Bored. Ready to go back to work Monday. Also worried because I still get very sore sitting in a chair for about an hour. We'll see how it goes.

    Average weight loss

I can't believe you're weighing at 1 week out. I am 6 days post op and I don't want to weigh because I assume I will gain a little as I start eating again and I don't want to see it on the scale. Lol. I lost a lot on the preop diet so I'll let that carry me til my next appt next week. I will try not to focus on the scale until I am able to start a fitness program. Please don't get discouraged if things slow down for you. Your body is still healing and however it does that is ok...even if it means you don't dramatically transform in a week or two. Congrats on the loss so far though and Keep posting your progress!
  6. Hello. My name is Kat. I was banded Monday and it seems like I'm recovering pretty well. I went home the same day, continue walking hourly, and am getting my protein drinks down like I'm supposed to. I'm trying to wean off the pain killer because it knocks me out. I've been lowering the dose since yesterday and I've been able to stay awake for longer periods of time. The only trouble I'm having is staying hydrated. Seems like I can't drink enough water and I feel dehydrated. Working on that today and looking forward to starting my soft diet on Saturday. Looking forward to positive results.
