  1. Couldn't get ahold of them yet.. Nobody answered. XP I'll try again in a little bit.
  2. Thank you! It's all good. It really hasn't bothered me any, I've felt fine, I'm just a bit worried at this point, you know? Overall, I've been doing great!
  3. Thank you, Missy! I was hoping someone who really knew their way around the LAP-Band like you would respond to me! I'm definitely going to call him in the morning, first thing, because I don't want to get super dehydrated, you know? I don't know anything about my band, actually. I don't know the size or if he put any fluid in it at all during surgery, I just know that he put it there and that's it. I'm not even certain where my port is or anything. xP My post-surgery appointment isn't until Oct. 15th, but I am gonna go ahead and call him to see if I can get some advice or answers from him tomorrow. Thank you again, for such a quick, thoughtful response.

That sounds much different than my Post-Op diet. I'm not transitioning into mushy, baby foods until two weeks after surgery. At four days, I've transitioned into liquids, 6oz, 6 times a day. I can't hold that much though. I usually only manage to keep about 2 1/2 "meals" down in the entire day and a bit of water. I know I'm getting a bit dehydrated, but everything else has been going wonderfully, so I'm just trying to increase my fluid intake and otherwise haven't been worried. I'm not hungry at all, I feel full 24/7, but I occasionally do drink some Pedialyte or part of a protein shake or some tea so that I can get at least some of the needed nutrients. I know it's probably just from swelling, so I'm not too worried about it right now, and I'm sure once I heal a little more, I'll be able to take in more liquids easier.

I hope so too! The stockings are no trouble whatsoever. I occasionally push them down because my leg itches or something, but really, they're just like wearing a slightly tight pair of knee highs. No pain or anything. I feel blessed that my surgeon chose these instead of shots.

  8. This is day 4 for me, and I was wondering if anyone else noticed one of their steri-strips just coming off on its own. I don't want this to keep happening, but for now, nothing is exposed or anything. Is this okay? Is there anything I can do for protecting the others from coming off in my sleep or just day to day life.

Well, with my fear of needles, I'm glad I get to wear the stockings instead. xP They're not really uncomfortable or anything, just a little tight. I gotta make sure they don't get rolled up because then they could actually cut off circulation, but other than that, they haven't bothered me one bit!

I don't have to give myself shots or anything, but I have to wear these special stockings for about two weeks.

    Im having a meltdown

You are in my prayers during this difficult time. Take it easy. Heal emotionally first, your band will be there, ready to fill when you're ready.

    leaving

I'm totally part of that generation, I'm not going to lie! xP I've been rewarded for good behavior and spoiled my whole life, and so was my sister, but we're very different people. I think you've got a good point, there should be a little bit of both! I have friends who didn't get rewarded for good behavior very often, but were always punished for bad behavior, and I feel like both my childhood and my friends' childhoods were a little unbalanced on that scale. Plus, my sister is intolerably selfish and annoying, and she will not grow up even a little bit, you know? And, I haven't completely lost that. I have goals I set for fun things to do at the end of something really challenging! I'm planning a trip to the Galleria Mall, American Girl store with some friends sometime in November, after I've healed from surgery and everything. I think my need to have something as an end goal every once in a while kind of came from growing up like that, you know?

    Really sore after surgery

I'm on day 3 also, but things were a tiny bit easier today. I managed to get dressed and everything today, and I can almost get up on my own without much help. I'm still taking my pain medicine though, because if I miss it even for an hour, it hurts.
  14. Watching the 2nd Beatles' tribute on Glee. "Tina in the Sky with Diamonds" I've thought about this since I found out my surgery date, how if I could just make it to the second episode of Glee Season 5, I'd be finished with surgery and all the really, really scary stuff, and here I am! Yay! :)

    An Introduction Post! :)

Aren't they? My church, Seventh Day Baptist Church of Texarkana, sent them to me. They make me feel so much better and so happy whenever I see them! <3

It hurts sometimes but it works sometimes too. My incisions are different than they were on the video though. There's only 4 incisions and they're all really high up, horizontally across. One on the end is a little lower than the others, and I think that's where my port is, but I'm unsure. I have to be really careful when I lay down, and I still prefer sleeping up, but sometimes, I've found, sleeping like I'm use to, on my back or on my stomach, has proven to help alleviate some of the gas.

Today is a lot better than yesterday! Not much gas pain left, and out of four incisions, only the ones on the ends really hurt. Mine are all in a horizontal line. I think I know which one the port is behind because it's always sore there, no matter what, but I don't feel very ill or in a ton of pain, and I'm actually feeling pretty good overall.

    An Introduction Post! :)

I'm taking small sips all day, I'm focusing more on the Water than the broth, and I've been able to drink more and more throughout the day/night. For someone who doesn't get very nauseated usually, I've experienced quite a bit of nausea, but the nausea medicine has been great and practically works instantly! Here are my beautiful flowers:

    An Introduction Post! :)

I'm doing extremely well, I think. At first, the gas pains were excruciating, but as I got home and walked, walked, walked and took deep breaths, and even found a comfortable way to sleep on my stomach (as I always do), I've only had slight discomfort. My throat hurts though, but it's all good. I feel proud of myself for having gone through it all well! I'm so happy! I'm finally banded! No more surgery fears! I'm on a roller coaster that's only going up! Thank you so much for your concern and asking about me. I'm excited about the next steps. Honestly, I'm having a little trouble keeping liquids down. I have barely had one full bottle of Water of the whole day and I've only had one shot glass full of low-sodium chicken broth. I also took a bit of pain medicine too fast earlier, I think, and I'm gonna try to use a baby syringe that they sent with it next time, because I ended up with 2 hiccups, and that scared me. I only have 4 incisions, and they're in a horizontal line, and they're really high up, so I'm really grateful that I can still sleep on my stomach. <3 My church sent me the most beautiful flower arrangement! It's absolutely gorgeous! I love it. Very autumny! I lost 41 pounds on my own between July 2nd and October 2nd, and I weighed in at 295 today! I got myself out of the 300s and I feel great over that, because I did that by adapting myself to the LAP-Band diet! I'm very excited about this next part of my journey, and I think I'm well prepared because of the summer! Here's to the future! I'm on a roller coaster that's only going up! Thank you, and everyone, for all your prayers/well wishes.

Well, surgery went well. I woke up in a lot of pain. I'm still capable of sleeping on my stomach if I'm careful, so I did that, and when I woke up, I felt significantly better. Still hurting and walking, but that's it.

    how long did you wait

I got to skip many of the steps. Never had a psych. Eval. My first appt. was July 2nd, my surgery is Oct. 2nd.
