    How Much Did You Lose?

Well, I'm only 11 days out, but I've lost 12 pounds according to my scale since my surgery date, but it may be off a pound or two, since that's two different scales and two different outfits. I don't think the numbers much matter as long as it's a loss, you know? I'm happy.
  3. WHAT? I might have to order online!! xD My local GNC only has it in powder form, but I'll still go check tomorrow! <3

Don't have second thoughts, guys. The surgery isn't as bad as you might think. I'm not gonna lie, it is a little nerve wracking and waking up is weird, sometimes you're in a little pain, but, for the most part, you feel pretty good. Trust me on this, I was banded on 10/2, and it is totally worth it! All you have to do is show up and go to sleep! I purposely stayed up all night so I didn't fret too much about the IV and all that, and it worked! I was relaxed from being sleepy and I was ready to get to sleep when the anesthetic kicked in. Staying relaxed makes it significantly less painful, because your body is more relaxed too. Just breathe, it'll be over before you know it. The worst part for me were the few days/hours before surgery. I cried a few times, but right after waking up, I was so proud of myself for doing it!!

    Scars

Call me crazy, but my scars are kinda cool to me. They look like a "cut here" line, like on a little kid's craft, and I think that's pretty awesome! They're also kinda like reminders of what I did for myself. I may be worried about extra, loose skin and all that, but I hope the incision marks stay, because I think they're unique and their cause is for a purpose I wouldn't mind being reminded of every once in a while.
  6. Yay! I've been eyeing the pumpkin spice flavor for a while. I usually just buy the RTD flavors, but that pumpkin spice one has me curious. I guess I'll take a leap of faith and trust you guys on it! I will pick up some and try it!! can't wait! I love fall flavors! <3 it'll be like getting a pumpkin spice latte without the guilt!
  7. I'm ten days post surgery today, yay! The only thing really worrying me is that sometimes I get strong hiccups. I had LAP-Band/Plication surgery, so I guess I'm probably only paranoid, but can strong hiccups cause a slip? My hiccups are pretty powerful and the hurt quite a bit when it happens, feels like my organs all take a leap for a minute! Is this okay? Did this happen to others post-surgery. I've read how some people can use it as a sign of having eaten plenty, but this is unrelated to my food intake, it just kinda happens. Thank you all for your help, I really appreciate this forum and everyone willing to post what knowledge they have!
  8. That would be bad, lol! I think I have a port, but I know I'm losing weight, so as long as it's working I don't care! I'm down 8lbs since surgery, ten days ago!!
  9. Thanks for all the replies! I guess it just seemed weird to me since everyone has been talking about how they know where their port site is, and I'm just over here like, "Well, I have four incisions, so I'm gonna guess it's somewhere around one of those!"
  10. Okay, awesome. Did it hurt when she found it any? Was it uncomfortable?

Nerves got to me too, but don't worry, as long as you're doing your diet right, you should be fine! I lost 13lbs on my 2 week pre-op diet!

    Hello!!!

Hi! Welcome!! This forum is very, very helpful! Ask anything you need to and you'll definitely get an answer, but don't forget to ask your doctor too! <3

Don't freak out too bad. Weight fluctuates naturally. Also, are you weighing yourself in the same clothes every day? Clothes weigh something too! Generally speaking, you're heavier later in the day and lighter earlier in the day, weight naturally fluctuates, so don't panic too much.
  15. I'm five days out of surgery, and I'm kind of having some issues. Well, I feel fine and everything, really, I do, but I've had a few issues with being able to drink anything at all really. I sip Water all day, but can never get down more than maybe one or two bottles in a 24 hour period, and I'm suppose to have 6 oz. of liquid 6 times a day for meals, but I can usually only manage two of them. I'm also NEVER hungry. Not at all. I only try the two meals so I can at least make sure I have some nutrition in me. They settle like a lead balloon in my stomach. I think that, maybe, I just swelled a little more than expected, but it is starting to worry me. The past three days, when I finally was able to go to the bathroom, I've only urinated once a day (zero bowel movements since surgery) and it's a pretty dark color, so I'm worried I'm getting really dehydrated. Sorry if that's a bit TMI, but I just need a bit of help keeping liquids down. I'm calling my doctor tomorrow, to see what he says, but I wondered if you guys had any ideas? Maybe I should try less Fluid more times than six times a day? Any advice and prayers would help, thanks! Edit: Also, I haven't thrown up or anything like that, I just constantly feel so full, like I've eaten a huge meal, even though I haven't really eaten anything, you know?
  16. I do, and I called her, then I called the nurse. The nurse said that she'd remind Ms. Betty to call me, but she didn't get around to it, I guess. I'm feeling much better now and I'm drinking more often, so I'm not going to worry about it until the 15th, my post-op appointment. It was scary there for a few days, but I'm all good now!
  17. Posted an old Halloween drawing I did in high school on my Introduction Post! <3 Happy Halloween, LAP-Banders! <3

  18. Hello everyone! I'm Allie! I'm 23 years old, but mentally, I'm more like 7 or 8. and I'm currently scheduled for surgery on October 2, 2013! Well, I'm a little bit terrified of that, and I'm only two days into this liquid diet and it's proving pretty terrible, so I thought that maybe I should try and make friends with some people who may have a few similar interests with me! For the most part, I'm pretty sure I'm gonna tell you very little about my actual surgery in this post, I just want to have someone to relate to in other ways, the band is a give in, right? Okay, so here's a little bit about me, and if you want the short version, I bolded the important things: A tidbit about my surgery and why? I'm kinda unusual, I don't really want to lose weight for any normal reason, though I definitely respect the fact that I should want to lose weight to be healthy and all that, so I'm trying to convince myself of that, the real reason I'm sticking with it though is really only one health problem: Hidradenitis Suppurativa. HS is a skin condition that causes large sores on the body and it's pretty gross and terrible, but mostly PAINFUL! Anyways, one of the solutions to make the attacks less frequent is weight loss, so here I am. Though I am looking at the perks of this too, like a wider selection of clothing options! Yay!! <3 Some of the things I love most in this world... I LOVE Glee! It's my absolute favorite TV show ever. It really is. Blaine Anderson is my favorite character, and, of course, Darren Criss is my favorite actor. I could talk about Glee all day, so if you're a Gleek, we should be friends! <3 Also, Klaine is my favorite pairing in the world and both Chris Colfer and his character, Kurt Hummel, are role models of mine. Other shows that I could talk about all day include: How I Met Your Mother, (Neil Patrick Harris is my everything though, he's amazing.), The Big Bang Theory, LOST, Dark Angel, Hetalia: Axis Powers. Youtube. Or, in particular, several YouTubers! I love the VlogBrothers, John and Hank Green. John's Book, "The Fault In Our Stars", is probably one of the best books I've ever read in my life, I absolutely adore that book even though it makes me cry. Tyler Oakley! He is basically my spirit animal, I identify with him extremely closely. AmazingPhil and Danisnotonfire, Phil Lester and Dan Howell make my life better. They are just so honest and relatable. Musicals. In particular, Glee! (Hehe), RENT, Across the Universe, Moulin Rouge, The Lion King (I and II), Grease, Children of Eden, Sweeney Todd, REPO!: The Genetic Opera, Rocky Horror Picture Show, Camp Rock (I and II), Little Shop of Horrors, Les Miserables... Art. So yeah, I actually got my Associates degree in Art! I love all things art. I paint, I draw, I do it all. I just love, love, LOVE art! Here is a drawing I recently did of the aforementioned Darren Criss! <3 Isn't he gorgeous? Cosplay. There is something about dressing up, you know? Dress up is fun! Here I am cosplaying Blaine Anderson from Glee this past year, I just really, really love getting to pretend I'm someone else for a while: School. I am currently studying History and English at Texas A&M: Texarkana, and I'm thinking of picking up Psychology there as well. I'm also planning to return to Texarkana College, where I received my Associate's in Art, and I hope to pursue Drama and French! American Girl and Build-A-Bear Workshop. Did I mention I'm mentally, like, five or so? Anyways, I'm pretty sure my teddy bear from BABW, Dare-Bear, will be with me as much as possible for cuddles during the harder parts of this journey, you know? After everything is in place and surgery has passed and all that, I'm going to go to American Girl with my best friends Michelle, Stephen, and Ryane! Music. Deadmau5. Jonas Brothers. Darren Criss. The Beatles. Mark Ballas. Panic! At The Disco! Those are quickly, easily, my favorite musicians. But my music appreciation goes much further than this alone! I'm also studying Piano! I haven't played in a while though, I need to get on that, you know? I dream of performing as Mrs. Lovett from "Sweeney Todd" and Eponine in "Les Miserables" , and I love all their songs! Don't even get me started on my appreciation for movie scores. Really, incredible! Speaking of Deadmau5, I cosplayed him in a sculpture I made: CD mau5head, yay! I also painted that watercolour picture featured down there. Yep, this some of my deadmau5 merch! <3 Tumblr. Swimming. Just about the only way I will willingly exercise.. Probably my biggest problem on this journey, you know? Books. Personal favorites include: "The Fault in our Stars" by: John Green, "Struck by Lightning" by: Chris Colfer, "The House on Mango Street" by: Sandra Cisneros, "The Knight of the Cart" by: Chretien de Troyes, "The Hunger Games" by: Suzanne Collins. My family and God. They're gonna get me through this. Well, that's everything. Let's be friends! Come on, after reading all that, you know I'm awesome! Let's encourage each other on this journey, okay? Edit: (I'm just gonna add cool things I've found or something, and this is one of them! Check this out! It's a goal weight bucket list! Share yours with me, okay? We can really encourage and get to know each other this way!!)

  21. Ms. Betty never called and got back to me. It's kinda okay though, yesterday things kinda picked up and I was able to drink more throughout the day. I went to the bathroom twice and it wasn't as dark as it had been. I think I'm getting better now.

    Weight GAIN during liquid diet?

Yeah, that happened to me a couple of times, though I wasn't weighing myself in the same clothes or anything. The thing is, no matter what, weight fluctuates a bit. Also, if you believe in the theory of starvation mode, then that's exactly what's happening! I believe in that theory. Your body wants to save itself, you know? It wants to make sure you will survive, and so your limited diet is making it keep what it can, and it's reluctant to let it go. Basically, don't worry about the scale too much right now, you know you aren't over eating or anything if you're following your diet right. Weight fluctuates all the time, don't let the scale bother you, and overall, you'll lose more and than you'll gain!
  23. You think he'll give me a refill? I was told they were pretty stingy with pain medicine because it can be addictive if abused, and they have to assume the worst. Well, I still haven't gotten a call back, but I think today has been much better, I'm still not feeling hungry, but I'm feeling significantly less full, and I've already sipped at two cups of warm tea which has settled my stomach significantly! Thank you everyone for your concern, as soon as I get a call back (which will be from Ms. Betty, my nutritionist) I will tell you what she says.
  24. My favorite tea is decaf. It was the first meal I tried. I haven't tried sf Popsicles yet, I'll try that this morning, as soon as it stops hurting.. I think I'm gonna go ahead and take a bit more pain medicine, even though I'm starting to run out..
