Perth Bandsters - your stories & successes

Hi mlp , yes it is worth it but you will take you at least a week to come right . The body dose not like being tampered with and it is letting you know it , I felt sick for 6 -7 days after but I bounced back just as you will . Just hang in there you will be OK ,your body will adjust as the days go by ( it will get better) . We are all here to help you through kind regards .... Paul ote=mlp;1121293]Hi guys, two days in and feeling dreadful. Waves of nausea, and strange sensations in my eosophagus when i drink etc. Wish I didn't feel like i had been beaten up internally. Have made some tomato soup today to try and eat something yummy and healthy. Am wondering whether all these awful sensations go away, altogether, as couldn't manage like this until my weight came off! !Please give me some hope, am wondering whether it was worth it!!

Perth Bandsters - your stories & successes

Hi MLP , I went back to work one week after surgery with no problems at all ,was just a bit tender around the surgery area but this did not cause me too much problem . Yes you will on on the Optifast and fluids such as apple juice for a couple of weeks , then the mushies start for a couple of more weeks (baby food is good from your super market , mashed potato etc ). After that you will start to eat normal food which will be trial and error for a while . Good luck you will be fine.... regards ..... Paul

HI Tracy ,on a leg of pork the crackling is the only part I can eat , a bit of apple sauce and it slips through the band no probs . I find the more brittle things are the easier they are to eat , like vita wheat, cruskits are great instead of bread cheers ....Paul

    Australian Bandsters Chat Thread

Hi Tracy , Longingtobelean ( love the name) enjoy the last supper as your life is about to change , but for the best . My wife took me to the Burswood Hotel Buffet here in Perth for my last supper a week before I was to be banded , I dined like a King ha ha . I was 147.5 kgs when I first looked in to having lap band surgery , but got down to 133 kgs by the time the band was fitted ( on march 30th 2007 ) . I am now 94.5kgs and almost at target weight , 5-6 kgs more will be good . Its feels good when I go out to buy new clothes , my DR has put me in the waiting list to have a nip and truck . Good luck on the 27th, this is the best decision you have ever made . Well thats what us bandsters say when the weight starts to drop off . Have treated myself to a Lotus sports car because I have always wanted one and now slim enough to look like I belong in it ha ha . cheers hope all goes well regards .....Paul

Hi Lello , well done 21kgs in five months is a very good effort to say the least, I am also close to target weight 15 stone in the old scales is what the my doctor tells me I should be as I have a big build . But another 5 or 6 kilos won't go a miss, around 87-88 kilos would be good weight for me . Anyway I am glad the band has been a success for you...regards .....Paul

Or fish steamed with a cheese sauce and mash is very good with the band , sherperds pie is one of my favorites or smoked fish pie. happy to give you the recipes for these dishes should you want them kind regards ....... Perth Bandsters - your stories & successes

HI all , I am another Perth bandster . Banded on the 30th March 2007 by Dr Sue Taylor, I have lost 53 kgs since I got the ball rolling 30 months back . I was 147.5kgs at the start ,but got down to 133kgs by the time I was banded. I had to get my weight down a little as Dr Taylor tried to band me 10 months earlier, but she could not get the band passed my liver, 14.5 kgs off and bingo the band went in no problem . 20 months after surgery I am now down to 94.5kgs. I have had to buy all new clothes , gee thats a good feeling .They say lap banding is not a silver bullit but for me thats exactly what it was. LG ( life is good ) cheers .... Paul
  19. Hi jopo , sorry I only just noticed that I had message inbox . yes Sue Taylor is just wonderful, put me right at ease . I am now 94.5 kilos and am only a 97R size in jeans thats down from 127-130R . I am now on the waiting list for a nip and tuck . How are you going with yours ? please let me know cheers ....Paul

  22. Hi ROXY , I WENT BACK TO WORK AFTER A WEEK , BUT STILL WAS A BIT TENDER . HOWEVER I WOULD GET CHECKED OUT IF I WERE YOU JUST TO MAKE SURE ALL IS OK
  23. Hi , I had my band done on the 30th of march last year 2007 , that was the second time. A year earlier I had been in for lap band surgery but the doctor could not get past my liver so she aborted the surgery . At that time I was 140 kilos and she said I needed to lose a bit more weight . I got down to 133 kilos which turned out to be just enought to fit the band. Since then I have had 3 fills and weigh 97.8 kilos to date regards ....Paul

Hi , my wife found the optifast for me on ebay , but I found that the optislim tasted a lot better . I am not sure if optislim is available in the USA but ebay is a good bet to find either one at a good price , I have lost 47 kilos in 18 months since being banded, the best thing I have ever done.....good luck regards...... paul
