Well you can bet that your surgeon is going to place that port in just the right spot so it won't happen again. and you will have a fill all at the same time. good luck and best for your surgery.

Thanks everyone. my husband is doing fine. home from work for a few days. i told him there were better ways to stay home and help me decorate for christmas. lol. he hates and has never helped me decorate. but since he is here i am taking advantage of him. he tries to escape to his man cave but i told him i know where it is and he can't run fast enough to get out of decorating. so it's sorta fun having a sick man around. another yeah for me.

Tighter Am And Pm?
terrydumont46 replied to melanndoll's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
my doctor once again wants me to buy a cheap ring. it will tell me if i have some swelling going on so i will be more careful with chewing and timing and what i am eating. i told her that the first ring i put back on my finger is my wedding band. i am so hoping that on dec.27th that will be a score. i will be married 28 yrs. and would love to wear my ring. so i showed her my medi-alert bracelet that is stretchable. she said that would work too. i think i am tighter in the morning too. never gave it a thought before but i don't recall a stuck episode other than morning. weird. -

Another Tale Of A First Fill.......
terrydumont46 replied to Bandista's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
it sounds like you have a neat doctor, who understands the band well. this is the first fill where i am actually understanding the concept a bit better and i am 6mos out. i am on mushies now so had my fav. of scrambled eggs. i fixed 3 but was only able to eat 1 portion of it. i stayed satisfied until i made a hearty chicken Soup. the chicken i pulverized. i was able to eat a cup of that and feel so completely happy. i am not afraid anymore. i was afraid that i would never have a green zone. but i do believe i am hitting it. my next app't isn't until the 26th of dec. . until than i am truly concentrating on soft signals and portion control. i am going to be a good bandster. -
the weight you gain while on steriods is generally Water weight. steroids cause edema. so be careful of what you eat. really test your band stoma before swallowing food. if you are swollen so is it. hope you feel better soon.

Help! Banded This Morning.
terrydumont46 replied to Milliekay193's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
the neck and shoulder pain can also come because of a position they may had to put your head and neck in to intubate you. take your pain medication as ordered. warm fluids may help. and walking. -
it shouldn't be long. or it wouldn't be considered preop blood work. i think surgery should be scheduled within 3 days of preop orders. now if you are being tested for all the other things . i had 15 vials of blood taken out of me for the baseline on all minerals, electulytes, Vitamins etc. and had to start vit. d 5000units because i was low on that one those tests were 2 months before surgery.

I had to stay 2 days because of heart complications. the one thing i wished i had and ended up paying the hospital for one was a little fan. it made the difference for me. as for medications. either liquids or you can crush them up. i have a pill crusher and a pestel and mortar. i have never used the pill crusher but have used the mortar. now if you can tolerate the taste you can chew them up too! after surgery they will start you with some ice chips. they are still avoiding you getting nauseated and to make sure your band isnt to swollen. expect it to be. you will have many incisions. small ones and one larger one. i don't remember them being to painful. but you will have pain medication for post op. walk as soon as you can. force yourself to. take pain med's before so it doesn't hurt so much to get up. and just do what your doctor has ordered you to do. that is the best advice anyone will give you.

so jealous here. i can't wait for my weight to come off so i can do what you have done. i have fantasied over having my upper arms done. i don't care about the scar i just want to be able to wear a tank top outside of my house once more before i die. my dream. good luck on recovery and hope all goes well

Need Some Support-Gained Lbs And Partner Not Attracted To Me Anymore
terrydumont46 replied to secondchancesally's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
i am going to post on this one. i have a great relationship with my husband. we married when i was thin. i went from 160lbs to 296 at my heaviest. he loved me all the same. he loved me when my kidneys failed, he loved me when he saw my heart stopped, he even got post traumatic stress disorder over the last one. he supports me in all of my endevers. he wants what i want and thats to live and be healthy. you deserve oh so much more than the clown you are with. love is uncondional. love is not painful. no man is worth all the tears you are shedding. i know what you are thinking right this min. if i do this he will love me again. well you shouldnt have to do anything. i surely don't know about this vacation thingy but i do realize money already spent you might lose the deposits. ask him to sit it out and take a good friend instead. have fun tear up the dance floor and you are going to find that you are still attractive to a whole lot of men. he isn't the only one in the pond you know. -
i am not a veteran as you but perhaps a refresher course would help. just seeing my doctor yesterday. her suggestions are as follows. 1) eat only what fits on a saucer plate flat. eat Protein first. 2) no more Protein drinks, especially if they are replacing a meal, she said okay if i use a 100 cal. one as a snack if hungry. 3) low carb 4)low fat 5) red meat such as beef and pork only once every week. 6) don't eat until you feel full eat only the 1/2 cup to cup and stop. this gives the time it takes to send that signal to your brain that you are satisfied. 6) no eating after 7pm that includes fluids. this one is protection for your esophagus. there are likely a million more suggestions, but these are the ones i wrote down. and don't forget to be active. good luck and wish you the best

Dont No How To Feel At This Point
terrydumont46 replied to Pittsburgher's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
i love my surgeons pa. she only works with lapband patients and is so knowledgeable about this subject. somewhere since surgery one of the surgeons put in my chart that i had a 10cc band. so my fills have been small trying to get to the green zone. well the pa looked at my surgery report and low and behold i have a 14cc band. she said we have some catching up to do so i will see her every 2 weeks for fills. she would like to do more of a fill but i live over 2 hours away from them and if i have a problem she didn't want meto be that far away. and before everyone wonders whats wrong with my surgeon, well he moved to florida after my surgery and i have his partner now and thats where the mistake was made. so it's another lesson about your medical care, it's your own so own it. i complained about my band which made the pa look. so i am excited to be moving forward on this journey. -
i think the rule of thumb is not to let a stuck problem last all day. if you are going on hours and hours and still can't keep anything down you need to see your doctor or go to the er. seeing your doctor is easier. most er's are not set up to unfill your band. warm tea helped me the most when i was stuck all day. and i really really sipped the tea. after a stuck episode it is best to stick to liquids to make sure you are not swollen as well. hope by the time you read this post you are okay.

Diagnosed Today After A Long Battle
terrydumont46 replied to donna12's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
oh man, so very sorry. i wish you well. i was just wondering if they deflated your band? if the new drug you are taking could cause vomiting i would think perhaps the band should be deflated. but i wish you well, and that the medication starts making you feel better soon -

Anyone Else Experience A Thanksgiving Gain?
terrydumont46 replied to thenug's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
i am nervous, i go tomorrow for weigh in. and another fill. i have decided i want another 1/2 cc to see if i can be more satisfied after meals. will post whether i lost or not. this has been a rough month with my mother passing and getting pneumonia and thanksgiving. but i am back on track and exercising again without going into a coughing jag. -
getting dehydrated can cause kidney stones too! but most kidney stones are Protein based. so protect your kidneys, keep your protein within your doctor guidelines and drink plenty of fluids.
-
agree with missy, this is call to your doctor. you do not want to get dehydrated.

Wine For Improved Weight Loss
terrydumont46 replied to MyHighway's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
i think the addiction problem is with gastric bypass. ppl drink and it goes straight to the small intestine. it takes very little alcohol to get drunk. but with the lapband, we still have our stomachs and absorb things normally. -
Persistent Pain On Right Side Stomach- Belly Button Height
terrydumont46 replied to annanyc's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
i am 6 months out and i think i know what you are talking about. my port is on my right side. when i am walking i get a pain just like you described. i can hold my port area in the palm of my hand, its like it's swollen the size of a baseball, it makes it feel better when i give it support while walking. the pain isn't enough where i would take anything for it and it doesn't last long after i come inside from my walk. i am asking my doctor tomorrow about it. i just figured that i have belly fat that everything is resting on and as i lose, my band needs to find another comfortable place to rest in. did that make sense? -
agree with carolinagirl, sometimes my first bite of a meal i eat it to fast and not chew enough and i get the same feeling as you are describing. i wait a few min's and try again with smaller bites or sips in your case and slow it down. you are still swollen from surgery. if slowing down doesn't help. some ppl like warm, not hot, warm drinks like tea. just sipping very slowly. also a ice pack may help. sit straight up and down don't slouch. and do a walk around your living room to help things move. it is rough at your specific time of recovery. hang in there.

Wine For Improved Weight Loss
terrydumont46 replied to MyHighway's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
i was asked to sign a contract stating no alcohol for the first year. i don't know how my new doctor, my surgeon moved to florida, feels about it. they were partners so most likely had same rules. i don't drink anyways so it isn't a issue for me. but i would likely treat wine, like fruit juice is to a diabetic. we just stay away from it.
