    Post Fill Diet Questions

after a fill my orders are 2 days liquid, 2days mushies and than regular. but it is important to follow your doctor's orders to your best of abilities. if you have a problem with his order take it up with him. explain the reason you have the problem. most doctors will work with you.

    My scale vs doctor's scale

i have said this before. i stopped weighing myself at home. it is so different than the doctor's although as i lose weight my scale apparently can weigh me a little better at the lighter weights. but at the beginning my scale was 10 lbs different than my doctors'. and now it's 5lbs. but i just can't escape the mind games the scale does to me. it changes the way i eat during the day. i know i eat healthy, i know i can't eat a lot thanks to my band and i get in some exercise everyday. so the scale isn't needed.

    Must/Can/Do

these were great to read. i can see myself slipping from one side to the another several times a day. thankfully the good side keeps winning out.

    Battle in my mind

how to put a meal together. lets do Breakfast first. most breakfast items are high carb's like your cereals. but there are cereals so good for you that you overlook it. like oatmeal. the instant ones are great. just add some walnuts to it and perhaps a apple to create fullness. or eggs, now i love eggs, i will eat a omelet with chives, mushrooms, vegetables leftover from the night before, add a bit of low fat cheese or some parmasan cheese in the green container, use spices you love. most of the time if i scramble or omelet my egg i have srirachi on the side. love the spice. dried chives adds a lot of flavor,, use garlic anything that will fool your brain into believing it is happy. now that i have permission to eat carb's i also like 2 eggs over easy. i use a non stick pan with pam sprayed into it. i than toast sara lee 45 cal. a slice of whole wheat bread. i like my eggs on top of the toast. the yolk adds the liquid for the bread. i don't need any butter on my toast this way. okay now lunch. lunch is the hard one for me. well today i had 2 pieces of sara lee's bread with mustard and lite mayo, and than 2 tbls. of braunschweiger. this is the first time i have tried this. but this total sandwich was 14g of Protein and 280 cal. i feel full satisfied and happy. i also will eat a salad with chicken or fish. cottage cheese low fat and add tomatoes, peppers etc. to make it more solid. at fast food places, i have found that jack n box has a fajata pita that stays within the calorie count. good in protein. any of the grilled chicken just ask for it without the sauce and ask for xtra tomato. this adds the moisture. chili is also a good fast food order. i haven't done it yet but wendy's is susposed to have a bomb chili. dinner is my favorite meal. i plan for my protein first. fish, chicken and once a week beef or pork. 4 oz. i poach, or broil my meat. i use my seasonings well here too. i really want my protein to taste good and it changes up what i feel like, example, spicy or citrusy or seasonal like using sage on chicken. i use dried basil alot too. ginger if i feel like asian. use soy sauce. i will than make either a salad or cooked vegetable. i make my own salad dressing so i can really control the fat and type of fat. but we all need fat for our digestive system. olive oil comes in so many flavors its great i love this certain one i get online at temeculaoliveoil.com it is a blood orange olive oil. omg...i use it to poach my fish. i use it to rub my chicken before baking. a little dab goes a long way. using my saucer i will put my vegetables on the bottom and my protein lays on top of the vegetables. i eat my protein first and than the vegetables. i don't do convience foods so i can't help you on those. but everything is dolable. just read the labels and ask yourself does this have enough protein to warrent the calories. for a serving size, is my meal staying within 300-400 calories? i get a headache from all the reading i do before i prepare food. even fresh food has labels or i need to look it up in a book. good luck and i'm sorry i rambled on so much but i love this subject.

    Two or Three Meals

i am sorry but your nutritionist is wrong. continue doing what your doctor has ordered. if that has been working for you than don't change anything. besides 2 meals a day is not enough. there is no way you can get your nutritional needs met with that.
  8. i say that at your height your goal weight isn't off. you will lose weight until your body has met it's goal. i don't think a 100 lb wt. lost is crazy. and yes you can achieve your dream. there are a lot of ppl on here with even 200 lb wt lost with the band.

    Another issue

it sounds like it to me. i don't understand the part about 2 fills in a row. everytime i see my doctor we discuss whether a fill is needed or not. the whole idea is to have the band filled until you feel satiated between meals. and it takes less food to fill that requirement.

    Bactrim suppresses appetite

so sorry you are not feeling well. sorta there myself. no appetite for dinner. i know i need to eat or my blood sugar will drop but boy i am racking my brain for something that would be so easy to eat and fix. hang in there , there is light at the end of the tunnel. your uti will be healed and you will get off the bactrim.

    No restriction 4 days out

i don't know what your doctor has ordered for you as far as diet goes. drink drink drink all you want. 64oz minimum a day. drink broth or stock, eat sugar free Jello, tea coffee, all okay. asked your doc. about caffiene some don't want you to have any others have no problem with it. read other threads on this subject but first need to know what your doctor has ordered for you as far as a diet is concerned. if you don't know call his office right away. there are stages for what types of food you will be eating., and we will be glad to give you ideas. as you move along

I Don't Know What To Do

i am opposite of you. i can't eat more than a cup, mostly less, but i am not satisfied between meals. it takes a bit of will power not to snack between meals. so i am debating on getting a fill on the 26th. but my doctor will discuss it with me and she is very good at what she does which is just lapbands. the other doctor does the other wls. she loves the teaching involved with lapband patients and being so involved in our journey or she says process. i will trust her

    Your tips for success

food log -weighing my food and logging Protein, fat, carb and calories. eat smart scale. love it eating a Breakfast. never cared for breakfast before but i eat one everyday now. adding a bit of fat to my dinner. makes me feel more satisfied so i dont eat after dinner. the fat is generally olive oil on my salad. drink lots of crystal lite and Water. never without it by my side.

    Meal regime?

i think my doctor just wants me to make good choices at mealtimes. so i am not hungry in between meals. most of the time i can follow those directions but night time is a tough time for me so i will have a Protein shake or Protein Bar. also if i am hungry around 3pm i will eat the salad i planned on for dinner. i think we all just follow our doctors instructions and figure out what works for us. i am diabetic too and sometimes the hunger feeling is very very strong and it can't be ignored.

    I'll start...

if we didn't have food issues and didn't have emotional problems with food as our crutch, we wouldn't be overweight and needing wls. i am and will for the rest of my life have to deal with the mental side of food. so far wls is winning. but i can't tell you that at times it really is a struggle. i want those bag of chips in the worse way. especially when i am being misunderstood. i get a i'll show you attitude and i can do whatever i want chip on my shoulder. sometimes the mind thing is more painful than getting stuck. and right now my household is under unbelievable amount of stress and illness. i have headaches everyday and cry most days but thank God my band is working. i haven't given into the strong urges to eat something crunchy and salty.but i want to lose weight this month, i didn't last month.

    2nd fill--not fun!

my doctor has me lift my legs off the table about 2 inches and lift my head off table at the same time. i have had 4 fills i think and it has always been 1 shot no bruises left. the only thing is by lifting mylegs and head i do get a muscle spasm in my back for a day.
  19. i just got through a virus and the band didn't hinder me at all. i made chicken soup and the chicken was so tender ate it as well. my appetite sucked but i can always get down half cup of food. my doctor gave me a prescription cough medicine because i also got a horrible cough. just rest and drink fluids.

    Hair Shedding!

at 6 mos is when i started to lose my hair too!! my doctor once told me when this happened before is to count backwards about 6 mos and try and remember if anything stressful happened in your life. its normal i guess. i don't like it so i took the advice of one of the banders and that was to add Biotin. don't know if it is working yet. hope so
  21. i have a request. that everyone take the time to fill out their profiles and or update them. it just makes it easier if you are requesting advice for responders to have that info

  22. amazon.com hasa lot Protein products and they are cheaper through them. although a lot of ppl like what they find at costco. do not be embrassed to let off gas. especially in the hospital. as girls we are brought up not to let off gas. but in this case it is most beneficial. my nurse in the hospital said it was music to her ears. it means your intestines are working. when you are put under anesthetia, it makes your intestines go to sleep as well. so gas is a good thing actually. but walking and drinking Water and Hot drinks will help as well. good luck on surgery you are going to do fine. we are here to help
  23. it sounds as if you are doing really good. i think most of us consume 1/2 cup to 1 cup of food 3 times a day. i also take a Multivitamin and vit. b12 vitb 50 Biotin and Calcium 1000mg and vit. d5000. and at least 60 grams of Protein a day. the protein usually comes from food not supplements. but i do drink Protein Shake if i need the supplement. your body will let you know if something is wrong. are you getting blood work once in awhile to make sure you are chemically normal? i hope this is helpful
  24. you have to get your nutrition in. if you are nauseated than you need to talk with your doctor. there are medications that can help you. good luck to you

    my journey

i order appetizers, instead of a meal. poach your fish and chicken. the added liquid helps. i add lemons, or red orange olive oil to the Water. oh yum. red meat has to be rare. our biggest Protein count for the day will come from meat. i hope you can try different ways of preparing them as they will fill you up the most and stay with you longer.
