do you take antiacid medication? acid in the stomach can make you feel nauseated and also make you vomit. it sounds like gasx is something you should try. but of course please call your surgeon. he may prescribe medication that he would want you to have. i hope you feel better soon.

No more DIET New Year's RESOLUTIONS for me!
terrydumont46 replied to HealthyNewMe's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
you are doing so great. nice job. and you are right. we don't diet anymore unless you call eating healthy a diet. happy new year to you -
when i approached my pcp he was all for it. i never expected it from him, i thought i was going to have to talk him into it but he knew the kind of struggle i had been waging. so he backed me up 100percent and even found a surgeon for me. so just be ready to give your info and broach the subject of wls. you might be surprised.

What to expect when you're expecting?
terrydumont46 replied to dink007's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
i actually couldn't use my jacuzzi for over a month. it was a nightmare for me, i wanted in that pool so bad. everyone is so different with what they are able to do after surgery. just ask your doctor. swimming sounds like it might be good as long as you aren't doing a marathon. but to move your muscles in Water sounds delightful. the warm water of the pool could actually be beneficial for gas and pain. but still ask your doctor. and do let him know how important it is to you. sometimes they bend the rules for those that ask. we always advise ppl to move after surgery so swimming is a low impact exercise. i want a pool. i love to swim but i live where there are no pools. i envy you -
i set a new goal for myself. perhaps this would work for you too. mine is a 5month goal to lose 40lbs. more by my year anniversary. i will be happy losing each month but i am going to be extra motivated so i can reach that goal. good luck. you are dealing with a lot but you will be mentally healthier if you at least eat healthy and walk everyday.

Its been 9 days since my lap band surgery.
terrydumont46 replied to kassy07's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
i had a fill on the 26th. i am 7cc on a 14cc band. i was on liquids for 24hours and now am on full liquids. i made a soup yesterday using chicken, onions, carrots, and celery. i drank the broth from that while on liquids and than using my pulverizer just blended all of it together making a thick soup. both were very good. use your imagination when it comes to food. if you are on liquids make your own broth using things you love. use your spices. don't forget Jello, and drink a lot. fruity crystal light especially lemonaide was a life saver, it will help fill you up. this is a phase in which you learn from. stick in there. you will graduate up and be so happy with refried Beans or eggs, cottage cheese, chili. it is a discipline to only eat what your doctor orders for you. but, throughout banded life you will need to be discipline with types of foods and amounts. good luck and best wishes -
I ate too early, OUCH!
terrydumont46 replied to D_Carrimko's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
you could still have a stuck issue going on. although being able to drink fluids is good. i think i would confess to the doctor so he can give you the best advice. staying on liquids was a good choice. but call your doctor. the pain is really abnormal especially since you said the pain started after you ate. -
Its almost that time
terrydumont46 replied to billsgirl2013's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
i am 6mos out. i have lost 44 lbs. i think i lost 40 lbs at the end of 5 mos. but you will learn everyone has their own timetable. it isn't healthy to compare yourself to someone. either you will be doing back flips because you are so happy or you will be sad and frustrated because you didn't lose much. this is a very individualized journey. i wish you happiness. good luck on your journey. -
i am not from australia, but your surgeon should be able to tell you what to expect with expenses. they will need to submit to your insurance carrier a pre-authorization. from that the insurance company will tell them what they will be paying. and in turn tell you what you will be paying. good luck as you begin this. and hang in there.

Minimal Preop Diet Weight Loss - Is that normal?
terrydumont46 replied to buddy567's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
i was so disgusted with myself with my preop weight loss. i was supposed to lose 5% of my wt. so i started as i was directed a carb free diet almost 4 mos pre op. i lost a grand total of 12lbs. it was the hardest wt. loss i ever faced. i kept yelling at myself that if i could diet and lose wt. i wouldn't need the wls. i must of did pretty well liver wise because most of my hardware is on the right side. and the abd. ultra sound i just had showed no abnormalities with any of my organs. i suppose that would be a nsv. good luck and best wishes as you go forward. and everyone is correct, do not judge yourself on what other ppl do. eat healthy, exercise and you can't ask more of yourself. -

Getting a fill and still over eating
terrydumont46 replied to ashleym_rosario's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
i was thinking along the same lines as cheryl when i read this post. be careful. even though you have had the band for awhile, getting a fill for you is no different than one for us beginners. slow and easy after a fill. give yourself time to experience the what fill you have. also remember it is up to you to limit the quanity you put in your pouch. good luck -
Experience with gastro illnesses after banding?
terrydumont46 replied to PuraVida37's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
only vomited once and that was while still in the hospital after surgery. i have no suggestions. i am on a medication that i take when i get nauseated. ondansetron. but i know of that flu, it ran its way around my daughter and her family and their circle of friends. wishing you lots of luck -

i agree whole heartily that an appointment is a great idea. starting with your next meal you are going to stay on track. you are going to walk around your house or take a walk. you are going to get back on the wagon and feel good about yourself. you can do it. i know.
-
i didn't get a fill on my first visit either. i was so disappointed. but what i didn't do and i want you to do is just pretend you are in the green zone and eat only the restricted amount anyways. eat just as if you are. practice this with every meal. it will take will power. you will be hungry but it will do you good in the long run. so sorry heal up fast

Fell Off the Wagon...How do I get re-started?
terrydumont46 replied to Kathy =^..^='s topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
the first thing you need to do is to make a appointment with your surgeon. you need to discuss whether you need a fill or not. and don't bring candy into your house. period. i had christmas candy in my house and usually candy isn't a problem i am a salty craver instead. but i started eating a piece of candy here and there. drove me nuts . i finally gave the candy all of it to my husband and he hid it somewhere. he said he will fill the stockings so i don't have to. since i can't say no to chocolate right now i don't want it to be a issue anymore. today was a great day not having that stuff around. i feel so much better about myself because i ate healthy and exercised. start walking after making your appointment. it's hard to stuff your mouth if you are moving. i hope you will get back on track starting right now. no tomorrows for you. remember why you had surgery in the first place and how good it felt when you were losing wt. you can do it again. don't wait till after the holidays. i know you were thinking that tomorrow is monday have a healthy active day. good luck and best -
What do you eat?
terrydumont46 replied to Dakotasmom06's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
lots of Protein. stick to that at first. i gather you haven't had a fill yet. so it is important that you learn now that your pouch only holds about a cup of food. 4 oz of that cup s/bproteins, and than vegetables. keep to that cup of food whether you are feeling full or not. this is a great time to learn how. dark chicken and fish are 2 good protein choices for banders. eggs are another. good luck and remember chew chew chew and take really small bites. get a saucer out and use it to measure your food. -
Post-op diet (first 4 weeks)
terrydumont46 replied to MrsDucky's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
my diet progressed every 5th day unless not tolerated. you need to find out if a week means 7 days or 5 days. and you don't know how your insides are healing. you can't see it. and at this point you don't want a stuck issue. it can swell you up like you wouldn't believe. try try to follow your doctors orders. it is very important. -
How soon is too soon for another fill
terrydumont46 replied to rybearsmomma's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
it should all depend on you. are you satisfied with less than a cup of food and stay satisfied for at least 3-5 hours? if you can eat, eat, and eat some more. or need to eat an hour after you have had a meal i would say you need one. hopefully your doctor will know this. some don't. -
Psychological letter
terrydumont46 replied to Lovely Lady's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm not sure why either. perhaps it's as simple and the same as all of us. we all have emotional problems concerning food. we wouldn't be overweight if we didn't. it sounds like your psychcologist that did your evaluation might be concerned that you may need some continued guidance to be successful with your surgery. this psychologist may not do counseling just the evaluations. i don't see a psychologist i see a psychiatrist for my medications and we chat for 15 to 20 min's every month so i can tell him the problems i might be having and he gives me little ideas on how to deal with those problems or things to think about. it is very helpful to have someone on your side that can help you deal with the little demons. don't get to overly upset over this recommendation. i think it is awsome that he didn't just write you off so many do. and i don't think it will affect your approval. i bet that your psych. evalution isn't even seen by the insurance company. they just want to see that you had one done. it would be up to your surgeon to decide what he is going to do with the information. good luck -

Help! Pain is horrible
terrydumont46 replied to mommywoods's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
this is not normal. do you have a fever? your surgeon s/b seeing you right away. don't let the receptionist put you off. she will because it's a monday. tell her you want to speak to the nurse right away, don't play it down. sometimes it's hard to get past those front ppl. good luck please have this checked. it maybe nothing but you need to be sure. if it's an infection you need medication quickly.
