completely mental
terrydumont46 replied to terrydumont46's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
lol b-52. i have a certificate on my wall that says i am certifiable.(my family made it for me on a birthday) but thanks to everyone. what you all wrote gives me the confidence and courage i needed. today is a much better day mentally. i have already taken a walk and ate some oatmeal. it may have been a couple of spoonfuls but it was filling and no problems. so am a happy camper. -
Today has been a bad day. i had a fill on dec. 26th. but i am having trouble getting started on solids. i am remembering the vet's who all state it might take awhile to get used to a fill especially as you near the green zone. to be patient with your band. it has been hard today. and than i came across this. Sometimes the smallest step in the right direction ends up being the biggest step of your life. Tip toe if you must but take the step. This is how i am feeling with this fill. i can drink anything and i can eat soft foods mostly, but i can't eat very much , certainly not a 1/2 cup of food. but i will tip toe right now and be patient.

pain on left side of my abdomen next to port
terrydumont46 replied to loveNlife76's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
port pain comes and goes for me. i can usually pin point a reason by thinking what i did that day. walked to fast, lift something to heavy. use my tummy as a 3rd hand. etc. -
have you been back to see your doctor. i know i had a hard time for a couple of months but feel a bit more confident now that i am nearing the green zone. continue to eat healthy, exercise and see your doctor perhaps you need a adjustment of your band good luck

my doctor just told me that 3times a month is considered a normal. but the idea is not to pb at all. before this last fill all the doctor and i talked about was what to eat , how much to eat etc. now we are talking on how to eat. like using a saucer as a measuring device. using a baby spoon or small pickle fork, that the first bite of food should be chewed so well and that you wait a min. or 2 after that first bite. she says it gets the whole digestive process working.

When do u start to feel normal again
terrydumont46 replied to JennieT311's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
i think that most ppl are okay around the 2 week mark. but everyone is different. use a heating pad for gas pain, ice pack for incisional pain, drink lots of liquids warm tea helps with the gas and walk. also don't forget pain medicaitons. they are prescribed for a reason. but a lot of ppl like ibuprophen over tylenol. good luck and happy healing -
Newly Banded...What to eat and how much?
terrydumont46 replied to KSteele's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
the larger incision is the one in which your port is at. and yes 5 incisions is normal. i have 5 little ones and a big one. when you are on Clear Liquids , full liquids just eat what makes you comfortable i made my own chicken broth. chicken, onions, carrots and celery. salt and pepper, or any spice you like. drain the liquid through a strainer and you will have a delicious broth. use any of the meats. there isn't any limit. you just might not like eating so much right now. the drinking rule only applies when you are on solids. drink as much as you want. don't forget that crystal lite, vit. Water, Jello are all liquids. -
Cavities at my Dental Appointment
terrydumont46 replied to bamagurl's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
i don't get cavities either. haven't had one since high school. and i'm 56 now. great advice, one in which i will follow. -
a i was throwing out all the leftover food that i wasn't even able to consume and thinking how thoughtless my family is and getting grouchy over all the hard work i did to prepare that food i realized i have a lot of work to do on myself. letting other ppl actions dictate how i am going to be feeling is stupid. how many times on here i have said i am working on myself and being selfish for just a bit but i really wasn't. and being grouchy is one of my worst triggers to overeating. thanks for that article i am going to give it a try. i got to learn not to let other ppl decide how i am going to be feeling.

what i miss isn't cola but ginger ale. i always drank that when i had a upset tummy. i drink ginger tea now but it isn't the same as a ice cold ginger ale. but my doctor said no to carbonation the first year. so i drink crystal lite and Water, coffee, Protein drinks with coffee. and occassionally vit. water.

always side with caution. you are doing absolutly what you should be doing. seeing your doctor. hopefully it will just ease your mind. good luck and hope you feel better soon

Itchy incisions!
terrydumont46 replied to RitaBonita's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
i used solarcaine spray. it was easy to spray it on. it took the itch away completely. i also use solarcaine spray on the itchy rash we sometimes get under the tummy or breast. it just works. -
my daughter is a marathoner. she loves the life style. she even did a 5k when she was 3 mos. preg. and was having problems. i was horrified and just didn't understand her motivation. baby was fine by the way. so good luck on your new endeavor.

Being overfilled ruined my band
terrydumont46 replied to maestrita's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
when i hear stories such as yours i am so very happy with my doctor who checks every fill with a withdraw first just to make sure we are where we are supposed to be at. we are so at the mercy of our medical providers. have you checked to see what legal proceedings are against this medical clinic. and what are the credentials of the girl that did the fill are. become a little sleuth. go in and get a copy of your medical records right now. you don't want them to change a thing and if they are denying responsibility a little eraser can hurt your case. you have the right to your medical records. good luck on your case. and i pray for good health for you and that everything turns out okay. -
on a fill i got on dec. 2nd i had the same question as you. should i go ahead with the fill i had a appointment for on dec. 26th. the doctor and i discussed it and we went ahead with a fill. i am glad i did. i know i am either in the green or so so very close. but i haven't started solids yet and that will determine it. but it is like a light bulb going off. a little bit of food is satisfying and i am not hungry between meals. but i know i may need a bit more time on sliders, i don't think i am ready for solids. i just keep remembering the vet's saying that sometimes it takes 3-4 weeks to get used to the new fill. to be patient. so i am. i think if you are questioning it perhaps you aren't quite there yet. i think you will know.

Hello Everyone! What's your diet consist of?
terrydumont46 replied to WshfullyShrnkng's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
i eat fish and dark chicken. i like shrimp too. i eat red meat once a week and it's a rib eye. but that was all before my last fill. i am not sure what my diet is going to be like. i don't avoid carbs. i use sara lee 45 cal whole wheat bread for breakfast and a sandwich at lunch time. it doesn't affect my blood sugar at all. i keep other carbs to just a few times a month. like potatoes and Pasta. i also use miracle noodles. not the rice though. it got stuck. i like cottage cheese with tomatoes and sometimes fish. i also keep my Protein at 60 grams a day. calories 1000-1200. carbs are up to 30 per meal . i eat salad or cooked vegetables with dinner. -
Just want to say hi and meet other lap banders
terrydumont46 replied to juliareva's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
you are doing great. you have lost a lot of weight. apparently whatever you are eating on that certain day isn't effecting your wt. loss. keep up the great work. -
i haven't flown but if i was to, i would just be careful with that first mouthful making sure it goes down okay. make sure you drink plenty too! take the Protein bars and perhaps a packet of protein . happy flying

i want to buy 501 jeans in size 32. when i met my husband i wore a size 33 so i want to get down a size smaller.
-
i think you thought this out to your best interest. i bet its a first for you like all of us to put ourselves first. you are still recovering from surgery. boy i wouldn't have wanted to even do my hair much less makeup at that point. your husband understands better than anyone so don't feel guilty. and as far as ppl and the surgery goes what i said to ppl is that i had abdominal surgery and not one person asked what for. lol they likely thought it was for female problems. not any of their business anyways. you are thinking about this in the right way keep up the good work.

NEED help reviving my motivation
terrydumont46 replied to Ricksgal_1996's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
some more information is needed. where are you on fills? i am 7mos out on the 29th and i have 7cc in a 14cc band. i know i am really really close to being in the green zone. i couldn't if my life depended on it overeat at this point. the only advice i can give you is to try and remember what it was that made you want wls. and how you felt when you lost the 25lbs. everytime you eat something ask yourself if the calorie intake is worth it. a candy bar isn't worth the calorie count. but a piece of chicken or fish is. get a saucer out. put some salad or cooked vegetables on it and than put a 4 oz Protein on top of it. this is all you should eat. if this isn't satisfying for you, you need to discuss it with your surgeon. you can get right back on the band wagon by discussing with your doctor your struggle. a fill might be needed or a talk with a nutritionist or even a counsler to try and find out why you are having some troubles. we all have food mind issues that we still deal with everyday. also just start walking. everyday as much as you can. exercising turns our minds off for a few min's so we aren't thinking about food all the time. i wish you lot's of hope and i know you can do this. 25lbs is still lighter than you were. and you should be proud of this.
