What's everyone eating for thanksgiving?
terrydumont46 replied to sarahbethemails's topic in Regular foods (stage 4)
I am going to enjoy stuffing and gravy. something I never eat. and that is it except for a sugar free and fat free pumpkin like pie. -
make pumpkin pie filling and add bisquik to the filling. it taste like pumpkin pie with crust without any solids. I am tryin a stevia, fat free filling for just me. my family are all skinny so will be enjoying full fat and sugar items

I cant eat white meat of any kind. and red meat has to be raw. I cut my meat into small pieces before I go to the table. this helps to remind me small bites which helps slow down the bites.

3 months out how many ounces should I be eating now?
terrydumont46 replied to Niki15's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
my doctor has me more of calorie intake than volume. my pouch only will handle less than a saucer size amount of food. I am at 3 months too and am working on trying to get to 1300 calories. I am unable to achieve this calorie count yet. more like 650-900 calories so far. but my protein intake is good as well as water so I am not to concern. -
Abdominal pain near belly button
terrydumont46 replied to Dquack01's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
the pain you are possibly feeling are spasms in your esophagus. they are very painful. suggestion is to discuss with your doctor about taking more fluid out even emptying it and starting over with a break. if your esophagus is involved you can suffer damage that is irreversible. that is what happened to me, needing this revision I now have. -
Port area problems
terrydumont46 replied to irishgirl520's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
with my lapband I had a huge swelling on the right side with my port. when I had my gallbladder removed my surgeon(different surgeon than lapband surgeon) took a look. it was a nesting spot for my port. the first doctor made this to nestle the port in. it just got more pronounced over time. -
Hotel stay after surgery.
terrydumont46 replied to monty's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
my stage 2 diet was fairly easy to follow. yogurt no fruit . Protein drinks, a lite progresso or healthy choice Soup emulsified to get rid of the lumps. your doctor or dietician should give you their list of foods you are allowed. the whole thing about bypass is the time after surgery you need to let the sutures inside heal just as you had to do with your sleeve -
get a referral from your surgeons office. they might be able to get you in sooner. if not make a appointment and ask to be put on a list in case of cancellation by another patient. its always worked for me.

Lapband to RNY-Surgery date 11/18/15
terrydumont46 replied to StacyTracy73's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
good luck. I am a revision too and am loving the bypass, it is nothing like having a band. I am very very happy with my decision to do it. -
I also quit years before surgery but when I was quitting I used Chantix. it helped me to cut down from 2 packs a day to a half a pack within days. and than a stay in the hospital stopped me for good. I wish you luck., you will feel better after you quit. its nice to be able to go anywhere and never have to worry about going and have a smoke. wish you well on your new life after surgery.

Acid reflux after band
terrydumont46 replied to mbmoore2518's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
have you had a barium swallow after complaining to the doctor of the acid reflux? don't ignore it and insist on getting your band checked for slippage. be assertive when talking with your doctor. the fact that the acid reflux started 1 year after banding and was okay for a year something might be wrong. please get it checked out -
Incision issues?
terrydumont46 replied to sjmoney75's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had a lapband so can answer your question. your port will be under the biggest incision you have. it could be anywhere. under the rib cage on the side of belly button. on your chest. but is usually under the biggest incision. yes to your question of being bloated. your intestines went to sleep when you did for surgery. sometimes it takes a bit for them to get back to beng normal. -
How many carbs do you shoot for?
terrydumont46 replied to Thinside's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
being a diabetic and no longer on insulin I have to be real careful I have discovered. the 3 times I had carbs such as breading on fish or the pirates bounty puffed rice treat I thought I could eat instead of popcorn I must have had a real spike in blood sugar and the other side of that is low blood sugar. one time it fell to 48. it makes me feel so awful I only get carbs from vegetables now. -
What’s Your Worst Post-Op Memory (or Fear)?
terrydumont46 replied to Alex Brecher's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I did wake up once during surgery. it isn't at all pleasant to say the least and I still haave nightmares of the expierence. that said I now let the anthesialogist know that I did wake up and they make sure I stay asleep. so have the talk with your doctor and the anthesialogist and waking up during the procedure won't be a problem. I promise. I am so worried that I will wake up during the procedure. recently had a colonoscopy- I asked them I will be put out right? they were snappy saying YEs!! we have to get you situated first..lay onyour side etc..well they started and nothing I didnt feel any of the meds..the anesthesiologist nurse kept pushing the meds (verced?) bad spelling.. into my iv. and nothing.nothing.I screamed and cried. they cut out a polyp and took tissue samples..I felt it all. some people think I am crazy but I felt it. it hurt so bad. I have a history of colon cancer and had a big tumor in my rectum that has staples in.. so already issues down there. after it was over ( I never was out at all) the nurse came in and said she gave me 700 units of verced and they usually only give 500 units. and that should have knocked me out. well it didnt (dont you have an alternative pain management plan in place??) then the doctor who kept telling me to be quiet came in and said you dont do well with Verced..umm ya think?? and she told me next time I have a procedure to ask for fentenal? she said just ask for the drugs that killed michael jackson?? umm wow I have to associate me having a procedure with dying?? when I got off the gurny/bed there was blood all over the sheet. needless to say I will now be making sure before I go in to get a guarantee I wont wake up. that was a nightmare. so I guess I am worried I will wake up ..or nothave pain meds that I need. Just gotta have faith.l have had lots of good experiences.this happened a month ago..so it is still fresh.. ughh thanks R~ -
Negative feedback from bariatric surgeons in regards to gastric bypass
terrydumont46 replied to twinkle101's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
one word. reflux. I already suffer from it and I was told the sleeve wasn't a fit for me. I revised from the band and had the same problem with it. I haven't had one episode with the gastric bypass. I like the gastric bypass it really keeps you in check. no way am I going to be able to eat around it like ppl do with sleeve and lapband. my hospital and doctor won't do lapband anymore. -
What’s Your Worst Post-Op Memory (or Fear)?
terrydumont46 replied to Alex Brecher's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
the drain. had to go home with it. the bandage caused sores. I hated that drain and than when they pulled it out I yelped. man that thing hurt. having a bad back I was up and out of bed after surgery do to discomfort. a nurse came in and told me I needed to sit at the edge of the bed. np I said and as I was getting the bed in position she was holding her arms and hands in a cradle position to help me. when I told her I had already been out of bed a few dozen times she was horrified. made me giggle. -
I HATE exercising! What Should I do?!
terrydumont46 replied to Sunshine3073's topic in Fitness & Exercise
I too am not a exerciser. my doctor who is aware that I have many ortho problems told me it wasn't necessary to lose the wt. but he would like me to be active during the day. so I walk my 2 acres sometimes a couple of times even 4 times once when I had a stuck issue. lol and I do housework, cooking, gardening just about anything to keep on my feet and be active. I just dusted off my treadmill and have been just doing a quarter of a mile a couple times a day. anymore and my knees are grinding. as soon as I get to below 200 lbs I will be having a knee replacement on one side and the other a bit later. I hope this helps in my walking therapy. -
Acid Reflux during the night
terrydumont46 replied to gail10's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
if you suddenly got the acid reflux you need to have a barium swallow to make sure your band is in place. if it is, than the treatment is drugs, not eating or drinking right before bed. my doctor had it 4 hours before bedtime and to sleep with a incline. but call your doctor, reflux can be affecting your esophagus. -
my surgery from band to gastric bypass
terrydumont46 posted a topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I was banded may 2013. My first year went like textbook. i lost a total of 81 lbs and felt great. But than problems started and july of 2014 my band was emptied and stayed empty for a year. My surgeon didn't want to put any fill in do to the complications i had. We discussed revision and on july 31,2015 i was revised to a gastric bypass. Surgery was difficult due to adhesions and scar tissue. When the band was placed i had gone to surgery to have a bypass but that surgeon couldn't do it do to the scarring. When i was in the recovery room the first words out of my mouth were ,what type of surgery? if he couldnt do the bypass i signed papers for a sleeve. but he was successful. I was so happy. post surgery i have had no complications. Have lost 27 lbs in 26 days. and am doing well with my new way of eating. -

my surgery from band to gastric bypass
terrydumont46 replied to terrydumont46's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
i had to see a nut and my psychiatrist whom i see on a regular basis wrote a letter indicating i was fine mentally to undergo the procedure. i found the nut to be very helpful. this surgery is a whole new ballgame. its easier in a lot of ways but food is harder. i have restriction that i never achieved with the band. i am still very pleased with everything. -
my surgery from band to gastric bypass
terrydumont46 replied to terrydumont46's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Try and keep your self filled with healthy food. The temptation is to convince yourself that is ok to eat something because you haven't had it for a long time and your band is wide open. It is real easy to put back on the weight -
my surgery from band to gastric bypass
terrydumont46 replied to terrydumont46's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I have none. With the band I had to take severe precautions to prevent it and even then it didn't help.
