my hair loss only lasted a few months. when I started taking the Biotin it just stopped. my husband gave me suave morracan shiny hair shampoo in my Christmas stocking so my hair looks healthy too! I never tried suave products I always bought the expensive stuff at the salon. I am really pleased with it.

Tonsillitis-- can illness cause the band to feel tighter?
terrydumont46 replied to clg016's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
yes your band can be tighter when you are ill. if you are not able to get enough liquids down you may have to have a unfill while you are sick. I suggest hot tea and just sipping on it. hope you feel better soon -
Trouble with the band. Does it get any better?
terrydumont46 replied to Jennifer Michelle Plumley's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
call your doctor. you need medication to bring the vomiting under control. I know of several ppl that have a stomach virus. the grocery clerk at the store said she was selling a lot of ginger ale and crackers so its going around. first call your doctor even though it is the weekend, drink hot tea. don't try to eat anything solid for now. get some of that ginger tea. vomiting isn't good for your band. so this is to be taken seriously. -
I went a month without losing but I was still in the middle of getting fills and going towards the green zone. because I didn't lose any wt. was a indicator for the doctor to do a fill.
-
I do. I take whatever I took before surgery. if you are unsure your doctor office can answer your questions or your pharmacist. I hope you feel better. I do know you need to be careful of anything with aspirin, ibuprophen, etc. so call your doctor. his nurse should be able to answer this question for you

Acid reflux and major GI issues and stomach pain
terrydumont46 replied to nyree34's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
my understanding of the sleeve is that gi trouble is exerbated. you will have the same problem. but with everything you have described I think your doctor and you should be discussing your options. your insurance has a lot to say as well. I wish you lots of luck and well being. -
I agree with 2 much. don't get drunk. you do not want to vomit with the band. still call your doctor. if something should go wrong at least he is aware what you were up to. just sip. enjoy the taste of the wine and spend your time enjoying your social aspect of your outing. 3 weeks is really quick to be testing your band, your doctor maybe on board. I had to agree to give up alcohol for a year but at Christmas time my doctor gave me the ok to enjoy my Christmas morning bailey's I have every year. so you never know what your doctor will say.

a call to your doctor office is in order. everything you have described indicates you are ready for another fill.

I didn't have to go on a liquid diet. I just had to go on a carb free diet and lose 5% of my wt. I was on this diet for months. the headaches can be from being caffeine free if you are used to caffeine. drink plenty of other fluids as well. you don't want to get dehydrated. I wish you lots of luck.

Need advice..
terrydumont46 replied to christinenicole's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
A couple of questions, first what size band do you have? when was your last fill? the things you are describing are ones in which a doctor would decide to do a fill on you. if you are not filling up on 4 oz of food and are getting hungry between meals generally this means its time for a fill. call your doctor office for a appointment. -
Depressed, discouraged. No Weight Loss, Hungry, Help!
terrydumont46 replied to Tonia Duty Keo Bailey's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
the band is a lot of work. I have a 14 cc band and now have 8.5 cc in it. I am also 9 mos. out. while I was waiting for the band to work I still ate smaller amounts and pretended I was restricted. this is a learning time for you. what foods work and ones that don't. if you don't learn to eat small, chew thoroughly, and eat slowly you are not going to like it when you are feeling restriction. take a deep breath. read how the band works. once you get to the green zone you will lose wt. but you can lose wt now if you work at it. I wish you luck. don't sabotage yourself now. you are only 2 mos. into this. it takes awhile. -
I too am a cook. I make food whenever I am hungry for it. I don't ever eat it I make it for my family. I discovered baking after I had surgery. I love the rise of bread and the smell it makes as it cooks. my neighbors really enjoy it too. I never leave anything for long. so they get whatever my husband can't eat in one day. and now my daughter has moved just miles from me so I have someone else to chop, dice and slice for. tonight I made a peach cobbler from scratch. so as you, my cooking is a labor of love and it makes me feel good to make good food.

how long is too long to start over?
terrydumont46 replied to aloudwhisper's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
it's never to late to start over! call your wls clinic and make a appointment. clean your house of unhealthy food and get a exercise plan in gear. after all this time a appointment with nutritionlist is likely in order. good luck. -
Not feeling "full"
terrydumont46 replied to nolookinback's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
when you are at the optimal fill of your band and are eating slow enough you will get the silent signals to your brain. but even if you don't your band will let you know when you are done eating. there is just so much room in your pouch before you start getting really uncomfortable. it's just so important right now to work on eating, small bites, chew well and eat slowly. when your band becomes restrictive those 3 things will come into play with everything you put in your mouth. it becomes very depressing and discouraging when everytiime you eat you end up pbing or slimming. no fun . -
I Dont Think Ya'll Are ready for this.

the medication I was ordered was Ritalin. it made me racy and anxious so I stopped taking it. I know there are several medications for narcolepsy so ask your doctor to try another. might help with your hunger.

Different liquids go down differently
terrydumont46 replied to ivyh's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I too have some trouble with the different thickness of liquids. ice cream is completely off my list now. it just sits in my pouch and than the slime starts. sometimes if I drink more than my pouch allows it also gets the slime started. so I am just as careful with fluids as I am with solids. -
when I read all the quick wt losses from the other sites I do turn a bit green. we work so very hard for our poundage. the way I deal with it , right or wrong is they maybe losing the weight now but so many start gaining the wt. back because they never learned to eat healthy. just what not to eat. so I shrug my shoulders knowing my body is having the time it needs to adjust and that I don't have gerd, reflux or even indigestion. I don't have to worry about dumping syndrome. and if my wt. slows down or stops I always have the choice to have my band adjusted. your friend is just being boastful. you can ignore it because if I lost as much as she has I would be boastful too. but if she tells you that you chose the wrong surgery my comment back to her would be that all wls are choices we make for ourselves for different reasons. its not all about wt loss.

Anyone dealing with Mental Illness and Surgery?
terrydumont46 replied to Stacyann81's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I just came through a bipolar depressed state. my mother died in November and a whole lot of stuff came down. the only real thing in my life was my band and my eating habit. because of health I couldn't exercise so I really depended on healthy eating. but I really struggled with night eating. when that sun went down I was crying and swearing and threw a pity party that rivaled no others. sometimes this pity won but my band kept me from over doing it. thank God for it. now as the cloud lifts and the crying is mostly gone I don't have as many poor me pity parties that requires food to over come. so all in all I think wls will help in the long run. because all it takes is to put a blouse on and its hanging off my shoulder to make me happy I am going through all this. because I know on my own I wouldn't be. I would be just depressed because none of my clothes were fitting and I was going tohave to go up a size. you will realistically have some mental problems with wls. but try and concentrate on the good and uplifting parts of it. I wish you the best of luck. -

I stopped seeing my Dr. Will another one see me?
terrydumont46 replied to Big Sarge's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
idon't live close to you but my doctor and pa said for me to tell ppl that they would be glad to do the follow up for lapbanders. the pa only does lapbands and has for over 5 years. she is really good. so the point I am trying to make is if my clinic will take on patients than I am thinking others will too. you just have to get on the telephone and call. good luck. -
