I was a big time coffee drinker but went to decaf for the three months that the doctor ordered. So of course on the day I could have "real" coffee I brewed and couldn't wait. I drank my wonderful coffee I soon felt anxious and my heart got all out of whack. So back to decaf. Oh well

Has anyone GAINED weight on the 6 month medically supervised diet?
terrydumont46 replied to cheri02's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
You can eat around your surgery. Every single day as I plan my day it involves exactly what I am eating that day, the reason I do this is its hard. It's not magic or easy after surgery. You have the best chance ever to lose the wt and keep it off with surgery but it takes work. If it was me I would be talking to a therapist. A lot of ppl see therapist because we do have a eating disorder. I hope you get this figured out and are as successful as you have dreamed about. -
Helpful items needed For After surgery.
terrydumont46 replied to megpie22's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
If u can stand the taste get used to chewing pills up. I went to second hand stores and found things that were small. Baby stuff etc. and the only credit card I have opened in a decade was Amazon. They have all the proteins and vitamins. Don't start iron unless your doctor has directed you. You may not need it. -
Day 2 of 14 pre-op diet...help!
terrydumont46 replied to RNYDawn's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
For broths make your own. I had to so I got really creative and just strained anything I cooked that was solid. I like nectar brand protein powder. I use chocolate or vanilla in coffee decaf of course and crystal lite with vanilla. Orange flavor makes it taste like a 50-50 ice cream bar. I was really lucky where I was allowed a Atkins or other light dinner once a day. -
Your experience eating sugar after bypass
terrydumont46 replied to MozzaWehsha's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Although I have not eaten a lot of sugar in the sugar I have eaten I've tolerated well but if I eat high carbohydrates such as pasta I get violently ill. I also stay away from fried foods as they make me feel ill. The feeling is extreme nausea and sweaty and my mouth gets full of spit. -
i also had my troubles eating so I just concentrated on protein. I had 3 protein drinks a day. I used vanilla and crystal lite. Tasted like sa 50-50 bar. Progreso lite soup with no flavored protein mixed in. Be sure to add protein to hot stuff slowly, stirring constantly. And than a Greek yogurt. That was pretty much it but it was a all day endeavor . I wish u luck. It does get better.

When in is it safe to have a drink?
terrydumont46 replied to thbrown223's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
i know it's tiring to hear "talk to your doctor", but if something should happen you want your doctor to have your true and complete history. I know with my doctor who I also signed a contract for a year no alcohol surprised me when I told him about my annual Christmas drink. He let me have it! So ask him/her. -
Revision surgery hours away!
terrydumont46 replied to Pinkgirl1234's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
I haven't been on for awhile since I was sick with the flu. So glad to hear u had the surgery. You will start feeling how amazing it is without the band. I promise. To eat without sliming, vomiting and the pain is great. I wish you well and a speedy recovery. -
Understanding my blood work (help)
terrydumont46 replied to Kathy Coop's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
also not a doctor but it appears that you should be getting a blood transfusion. if you have a primary care doctor make a appointment and have them explain your blood tests to you. -
had revision on 7/31/2015
terrydumont46 posted a topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
I had lapband on 5/29/2013. did great first year. lost 81 lbs. but last july the band slipped a tiny bit which caused constant reflux. the reflux killed my esophagus. the final year I was unfilled and every attempt to put some fill in caused my esophagus to spasm. my doctor decided on the revision and I was certainly up for it. post op I have done remarkably well. no complications at all. not even the gas. I am able to drink without problem and take in enough Protein. it's sorta scary that everything is good. I feel like the shoe is going to drop. I look forward to interacting with everyone. I was pretty active on the lapband forum. does anyone know how to change my surgery type on my profile? I have tried everything. thanks -
Reflux Surgery Anyone
terrydumont46 replied to momamia's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
i had one thought as I was reading your letter. are you still overweight? have you considered having gastric bypass done? I had the band and started having reflux and pain. july 2015 I had the band removed and had gastric bypass. I am not on any antiacids now and no reflux or indigestion of any kind . the bypass works getting rid of that complication. so if you still need to lose wt. talk with your doctor and see what he thinks. -
I have looked the forum over and can't find this subject. hair loss yes and I am doing that in handfuls, but, I am also having mosquito size bumps that itch like crazy and some pain. just wondering if I share this problem and if anyone has advice. I have taken biotin and multi's since before surgery and I usually meet my protein goal. thanks

Confused on which surgery to look into
terrydumont46 replied to tbella67's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
as u are aware there are pro and cons with each surgery. look at the pro's. the reason you would chose one over the other. the biggest against sleeve is reflux and gastric problems. you don't have that problem with bypass. all 3 surgeries will help or eliminate the diseases caused from wt. I had the band and it took a little longer to bring them under control than bypass. but u really need to have a sit down with your doctor and NUT. -
my diet was Protein drink 3 x a day and a lean cuisine once a day. and that was it. But every doctor has their own preop diet. when you see the nut they will go over your diet with you.

What are your recommendations?
terrydumont46 replied to animel's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
not allowed to use gummies. my doctor has me taking centrum silver twice a day. chewable b12 once a day chewable vit. d once a day and biotin once a day. all chewable. calcium 3x a day. I also just had a 3 month blood work that my pcp wanted me to have and all my levels were good. -
What's your favorite protein powder you add to coffee?
terrydumont46 replied to scubav85's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
i use nectar truffle. to add Protein to coffee you need to add the hot liquid slowly. protein will act like a raw egg that you are adding to something hot. so slow and make a paste first than add the hot liquid -
I ate all vegetables in the soft stage. just used my emulsifier until the lumps were gone. texture gone but the taste was still there.

Wasting food mental issue
terrydumont46 replied to MonikaMakal's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
i have family members who live close to me. if i have leftovers usually the food i am cooking for my husband i call my daughter and she picks it up on her way home. i love cooking and baking for my husband but don't want all that around for any length of time. so i save him a portion and give the rest away. perhaps you have neighbors especially elderly that would love to share your food with you -
Band to gastric bypass
terrydumont46 replied to marie beal's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
same amount of time. I had a drain in for 1 week and that was a bother but my pain level wasn't higher. I just remembered all the do's and don'ts of surgery and that helped. I had a uncomplicated recovery. I love not having the band anymore. the little pouch of gastric bypass works for me like crazy. i always had to work very hard with the band to get the full signal. you will love your bypass. -
whenever I have a good wt. loss I seem to stall a week as my body catches up. the 3 week stall was the worse. but I kept doing what I was doing knowing I was eating correctly and than the stall broke and I had a nice wt. loss. my doctor reminds me that if I have a stall for any length of time to look for hidden calories that I might be eating and not counting it enough. like in serving sizes etc. just remember basics and you will be fine

Band to gastric bypass
terrydumont46 replied to marie beal's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
yes I did. he even used some of the old scars from band surgery for the new surgery. -
I eat fish and chicken and a vegetable or starch or salad for dinner. when I am eating the fish my husband who is normal wt. eats pop pies or tv dinners, frozen entrees like lasagna, chicken alfredo. that way we don't have a lot of left overs and he gets the food he likes. the starch I eat is the little red potatoes. by wt. I can have 3. it has 5 grams of protein even. I roast them so they don't need any toppings.
