Yawning.? Nose dripping? SOFT SPOT? Say what?

for me the runny nose is a sign that I over ate. the hiccough is a sign that I ate just the right amount. any pain means I either over ate or I am stuck on something. the pain and slime goes hand in hand for me. water that I accidently gulped and filled my pouch can make me slime. it is important to figure your fill spot. pay close attention to how you feel when you have taken in a cup full of food, of course most of that cup should be solid. I still have trouble allowing my brain to tell me when I have had enough. especially if I am really enjoying what I am eating.

    9 weeks after

you are doing great. 1-2 lbs a week is what a bander would consider normal. depending on diet and exercise the lbs might be more. so you are doing really well.

    7 days post -op

until you reach your green spot you will be hungry. one thing banders have to do as they are getting their fills which should take months is diet. sorry I said that word. and practice to just eat a cup of food at a sitting. protein first, cooked vege. and salad next and a carb if you are still hungry. and just walk everyday. if you are doing a gym than great. I lost wt. during bandster hell it was slow but at least it wasn't a gain. but don't be surprise if you do gain a bit it wouldn't be unusual. stick to a healthy diet and move a bit and you will do fine.

    3rd day post op question

try crushing or chewing your medication. sometimes they can be just like eating something solid. after a fill I have to chew my medication for a few days. but I take a lot of medication and I bet its more than 4 oz. but that feeling you are getting is your pouch being full. it can even happen with liquids if you gulp some by mistake. I can't eat ice cream. it doesn't melt fast enough and causes that pain and slime. lots and lots of slime. and when I say ice cream I mean sugar free and measured. but its off my list now of foods I can eat.

    Weight loss check in!

I had surgery may 29,2013. my wt pre surgery was 296 at surgery 284 and right now 230. I only weigh at my doctors office so haven't been weighed since 2/14/2014 since my last fill. we are giving the fill a chance to settle in. I am going to be weighed again on my anniversary date of 5/29.

    Reactive Hypoglycemia After Bariatric Surgery

I have had 2 bad episodes of hypoglycemia. both were when I was still on insulin. I am now off insulin. one of my first symptoms I had isn't listed above. I became very very nauseated and than weak and a bit confused.

    1 Month Before getting Banded!

good luck on surgery. and it's good that you have a doctor here that will be your support. I wish you well.

    removal

I too am sorry you are going through this. I wish you well and a speedy recovery. I also wish you well on any decisions you have to make after having the band removed.

    Gratitude list

I have kept a journel since before surgery. I went and did a quick perusal just to see if I remember to jot down my high's. and I have. but on a mental note when pity starts to seep in I just remember that my first goal of weight loss was curing my diabetes. just last week I am now off of insulin. it makes me smile to think about that. it's nice that the good stuff isn't fantasies but are becoming realities.

    Support Yourself!

not weird about your wrist. I look at my ankles. they are the skinniest, boniest, part of my body. lol. I love just rubbing them and looking at them. it's been awhile since they have been covered with edema for many years. yeah ankles.

    Breakfast ideas?

I am a little tight in the morning now after the last fill. I don't push it. my pa gave thumbs up to a green protein shake. I use super greens, a little acid like a orange, almond milk or soy milk and either honey or substitute sugar and than add a scoopful of vanilla protein. even my skinny husband likes this and I double the protein when he wants one. it will fill you up for only awhile. you will need a solid lunch later. but at least you get in some protein.

    Protein Powder Supplements?

just remember that protein supplements have at least 100 calories in them. so if you can get your protein solids in you wouldn't have to add the additional cal. keep track, protein is usually 60 - 80 daily

2 yrs in, no weight loss!

you need to provide a bit more info. like size of band and fills. the answers to your questions are . yes my meals are less than a cup. I don't snack. and I do walk every day around my yard which is 2 1/2 acres. I limit my fat intake but don't eliminate it altogether. about once a week I enjoy a couple of cups of air popped popcorn. that is my snack on sundays while I watch my sport teams play. I drink a lot of water. and I lose at least a lb a week but for some reason I am losing more right now.

How many cc's in your band & how much can you eat

congrat's on your wt. loss. you are doing very well. I have 8.5 cc in a 14cc band. I think I am staying here for now. I can eat like a chicken thigh and some salad. less than a cup of food. no snacks between meals. sometimes meat isn't very friendly to my band so I will drink a protein shake when I can't get the protein in.

    What Keeps YOU going?

sometimes I wonder just why I did this. my health although in some ways is improved 100% especially diabetes. but as my health issues continue to hit me I am so thankful that my weight loss is helping with each and every problem that arises. if I didn't have the band i'm sure I would have eaten myself from the pity I feel each and every time the doctor finds yet another problem. so I am reminded all the time my love for wt. loss. it has to be helping in the long run.
  16. I don't know about everyone else but I have been on Prilosec since surgery. I haven't had one bit of heartburn or reflux. and I eat spicy. love spicy. call your doctor and see what he says. may have to check for placement. hope you feel better soon
  17. i have the band and now am off of insulin. I was taking 200 units of lantus and upwards of 30 units of Humalog a day. within a month I was able to go down to 30 units of lantus and zero of Humalog. and now I am off of it altogether. my blood sugars in the morning are 90-100. so even with the band it will help with your diabetes. this is a big decision. I am glad you are doing the homework to decide what you want to do. I wish you lots of luck

    Dull Pain

I don't have the scientific reasoning behind it but I too don't feel so hot after a fill. there is a small and I mean small amount of discomfort at the port site. I also get a lower back ache. I think it's because I have to lay flat and raise my head for the port to be in the right position. this discomfort is usually gone the next day. if your's isn't even if your doctor's office is closed they have someone on call to answer your question. just call your doctors telephone number. hope you feel better quickly

    Band too tight?

I was tight on my last fill for 3 weeks. and than finally I was able to eat a meal without pain or pbing. I took the advice of the vet's here on the forum. if you are able to take in liquids and perhaps a mushie or two have patience. but I still recommend a call to your doctor's office. he may feel different about all of this and a slight unfill might be suggested. feel better soon.
  20. you don't have any fill yet? I remember eating a 8 oz steak. not that I should have but I did with no trouble. this is where you enter bandster hell. welcome to this phase of recovery. although you can eat whatever you want and large amounts doesn't mean you should. this is the time you learn to eat a cup or less of food 3 times a day. Protein first, cooked vegetables and salad second and a carb last. but you keep it small. eat slowly, small bites and chew thoroughly. you need to learn all this so when you start getting fills you are ready. but you will be hungry. so pick your Snacks wisely. keep to high protein items. greek yogurts, low fat cottage cheese, ptrotein shakes, Protein Bar. this is the phase in which you are dieting. sorry I mention this word after wls we don't want to diet we want the band to do all the work. but right now you are on your own. hang in there, your flls will start soon
  21. This won't be the first time you will pester someone at your doctor's office. I would call. even if its to get just a time table. but you will need to start being a bit more assertive. you will be using and calling this doctors office often as you go through the phases of recovery from surgery. good luck

    Icky feeling

do you still have your gallbladder? I guess I was having gallbladder attacks for a couple of years but after surgey I had pain going from front to my back right at the waist line. it was causing free Fluid to collect around the port area so I had a swelling there as well. after a ultrasound and barium swallow and a mri my doctor removed a very sick gallbladder. the pain in my back went away after surgery as well as the fluid causing the swelling. having a talk with your doctor is the only way to go. if he doesn't bring it up just mention the gallbladder. I hope you find the answers.
  23. i might wait until you get back from your trip. enjoy eating food while away. usually after a fill you are on liquids for a few days. and if you have a problem you are a long way away from your doctor. have a good time and enjoy the food. just pretend you are with a fill and eat accordingly.
