  1. you maybe a bit dehydrated from the fever so the pills are getting stuck due to dryness. try putting your pills in applesauce or yogurt and take it that way. at least drink some water before you try and take a pill. if you can eat shrimp you aren't tight. drink more than your usual amount
  2. love the stories. mine isn't quite like those but fellow bandsters would understand. I didn't handle my first stuck issue well. burping, flapping arms, sliming into a trash can etc. my dogs were in the room with me and got frightened seeing me do all of this. and to this day if I do even a small burp they run from the room. lol

I did it! I did it!

just the thought of wind blowing through my thinning hair sounds wonderful. I am having knee surgery on the 25th. I have been looking at bikes as a form of exercise as I rehab. good job.

My NSV - Missed my window!

I had clothes from size 26 and 3x down to size 12. I haven't needed to buy anything but panties and bra's. but somehow I missed the entire size 1x. I can wear them but the neck hangs a bit and my butt area is saggy. not my butt but the pants. I had to go to my husband jeans at size 36. he says it is fine with him but saving money is always okay with him until I cut the legs off a pair of his jeans to make cut offs.

    Not losing

because of serious problems I have been ordered by my doctor to weigh myself everyday. ughhhhh. my scale goes up and down like a yo yo. it is driving me nuts. I gain even 3 lbs overnight. and than lose the 3lbs and more the next day. I liked it better when I didn't weigh myself at all. just made sure I followed my program. and than knew I would lose when I saw the doctor.
  6. all doctor offices leave room on their schedules for emergencies. this is one of them. if you aren't having pus, or if it isn't red etc indicating infection they likely will leave it alone. or put steri strips back on. but this does need to be looked at. you don't want to deal with an infection too.

    Pain first fill

I have to 2nd this decision that catlover did. I didn't follow this and ended up having bigger problems. if after a few weeks of adjusting and you are not it is time to get a unfill. bad things can happen over time.

    Pain first fill

yes it is normal to have your stoma become a bit swollen with fills. most doctors put you on a liquid diet for 48 hours and than soft for a few days to give your band a chance to adjust. remember, whenever you are tight it is always good to go on liquids you will be going back and forth a lot.
  9. you didn't say how much insulin you are still needing daily. if you are not needing much perhaps it is time to discontinue the pump. instead of getting up in the middle of the night have something around 9. if you have food in your pouch and than lay down you are asking for reflux. also if you are getting hungry you may not be adjusted to the green yet. our eating disorders didn't go away just because we have a band in us. if you are really struggling it is okay to seek some help. I talk with my psychiatrist all the time and it helps. I wish you lots of good things. when your clothes are fitting looser and you are needing some new bra's you will be happier and know this is all worth it. hang in there. but night eating needs to be dealt with. not good.

    Band affecting work

I found your post irritating, making me angry even,.not at you but your employers. I don't know the particulars on your band. how much Fluid do you have in it and what size . once you have a stuck issue you know that your stoma can get swollen and you need to go back to liquids for a few days and than mushy etc. if this job is worth it to you I would bring a Protein drink and than something mushy for lunch time. remember even if drinking you have to drink slowly. if you are sliming and pbing with everything you really must see your doctor and ask for a barium swallow to see how the food is moving through the band. please don't ignore this problem. I did and ended up with a slipped band which was making everything worse.

    URGENT SUPPORT NEEDED!

    happy to be involved.
  12. wear a loose comfortable sun dress. bring a sports water bottle so you can have ice water for your trip home as well as in the hospital. wear sunglasses for your trip. I dunno why but I got a headache on my trip home which was a 2 hour trip. good luck
  13. my pre op diet lasted about 9 mos. I had to go on a carb free diet and lose 5% of my body wt. prior to surgery. the whole time I was on this diet, a little voice in my head kept saying, "if you could diet you wouldn't be having wls". lol. but I made it but just barely.
  14. hungry is what us banders have to go through until our band is adjusted properly. this is head hunger. when you feel this just remind yourself that you are not starving. and than do something physical. I don't know what kind of pre-op diet you are on but a Protein drink was what I drank when I was feeling to hungry to control the feeling. drink Water to fill up your stomach. good luck

    Gaining slightly during a stall

I am keeping a daily record of my weight because my band has slipped just a bit and my doctor has me on 2 weeks of liquids and than soft etc. she said I might gain some wt. so keep track. I did well on the 2 weeks of liquid and lost 6lbs. but now on the soft I have gone from215 to 222. this has gone on for a week. everyday it is a different wt. one day I weighed and was 222 went poop and went down to 221 lol. so Water, belly full, poop etc can change our wt. everyday. and since it is so hot all over the country I would imagine ppl are struggling keeping their wt. stable. watch your sodium intake for one day and drink lots of water and see if your wt. doesn't come down. also parsley tea is a natural water pill. good luck

    Slipped or expanded

everyone is different when they are in the green zone with their bands. the normal fill for a 10cc band is 6-7cc. for a 14cc band it is 8-91/2. the restriction you felt on your 2nd fill was your stoma being a bit swollen. now that swelling is gone. get used to this fill and call for a appointment for another fill. it is a process. if you get a fill and 2 weeks later you find that you can eat more and don't stay satisfied it's time for another fill. it takes time to reach your green zone. if your band has slipped you would be having loads of pain and reflux and stuck issues. this sounds fine to me of what you have written.

What the Hee Haw is going on

you don't mention the size of your band. it sounds like you need a fill. .25 cc isn't very much at all. and if you have a 10 or 14 band it will take you forever to reach the green zone where you won't feel hungry. make a appointment with your doctor and discuss fills.
  18. several ppl have asked me how things are going. tomorrow will be my last day of liquids. I have lost 6 lbs total. I have had no reflux or spasms since the Fluid was taken from the band. I didn't cheat although it was hard, really hard. Wednesday when I start soft foods I know it's going to be even harder. I will be eating as if my band is restrictive. I know I will be hungry all the time. but my desire for my life with the band is stronger than my desire for food. thanks to all of you that have sent me get well wishes. it really helps having all of you that understand what I am talking about. my poor husband tries but he is just do it type of guy and doesn't get the emotional side of things. but he is very supportive and tries really hard to see how hard all this is. best to all, take care of your band.

Need to get back on the Band wagon

I suggest that you get a barium swallow to make sure your band hasn't slipped.

    Weird side effect from surgery?

it may not be surgery related at all. it's time to see your pcp. anything that has gone numb is not normal.
  22. I am a compliant bandster. I have done well. when I had a fill on Feb. 14th I was having some trouble with sliming and pb'ing. I worked on this as I knew sometimes it takes time for your stoma to come around to the restriction. my problem didn't go away and I started to suffer reflux really bad. I told both my pcp and wls . both recommended and prescribed me medication. I did exactly what I was supposed to do. The mistake I made was when it got worse I thought I was having heart trouble. I had so much pain in my chest that over the 4th of july weekend I was popping nitro for chest pain. I could see my heart pound by just looking down. I went and saw my pcp who had me do a few tests for my heart. all were as they were in march. so I made a appointment with my wls. she sent me for a emergency barium swallow. my band had slipped but worse yet my esophagus has stretched length wise. the xray showed over 20 spasms, that's how much pain I was in. I now have a empty band, on a 2 week liquid diet, than 2wks of soft and 2 wks of 5 regular meals a day for 2 wks. I am angry, sad depressed and so mad at myself for not paying more attention to what was happening. I was losing wt. and that's all that mattered to me. so my message to everyone if you go to the doctor with a concern step up and demand a barium swallow to be sure everything is okay. reflux is not okay. pain in your chest is not okay. a lot of sliming and pb'ing is not okay especially when you know you are chewing, eating correctly. I knew in my gut that what was happening wasn't normal but the wt. was coming off and I didn't want it to stop. Stupid brain. now I have to be extremely careful during this period of time so I don't gain some wt. back. going through bandster hell again is just plain hell. but I can drink my liquid without reflux and I still have some spasms but not nearly as I did before the band was deflated. please pray that I can keep my band. my wonderful band. besides healing I want my band.
  23. misinformation about all 3 surgeries is gossiped about all the time. I take more Vitamins and supplements than you do. it's hard enough going through wls without us picking on each other. we have the world already doing it we need to be just supportive of the decisions each of us has made for ourselves. thanks for posting.

    Throwing up

the icky in your chest could indicate that the food you got stuck got stuck in your esophagus and you are experiencing a little spasm. drink some Water, drink enough water that you fill your pouch. this should dislodge or make the food go down. and than take it easy for awhile. give your band and stoma a chance to recover. I remember once that I had a pork chop for dinner. I kept sliming and burping after dinner. no pain. all the way until a took my Jacuzzi at around 1 am. the dang piece of pork chop decided while I was in the hot tub to come up. oh what a relief but I was in a compromising position as I wear no clothes in the hot tub. thank goodness no one was around to see me pb on the deck. lol.
  25. welcome! as you likely know we also are very supportive of your pre-op goals. this site saved my life. I had so little information even after surgery. I found this site and all the wonderful veterans that informed me and educated me. problems do arise no matter how veteran you are so this site is a life line throughout this journey.
