Counting the days
terrydumont46 replied to lapbandmin's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
that is the secret. follow doctors orders and if you are unsure of them call. and come here and read the threads. I wish you a speedy recovery. -
why does it seem that we can put on wt. so quickly. when my band was unfilled I gained 10lbs in a month and by the time my band had fill in it again and I started soft foods I gained another 3 lbs. so crazy. my doctor wants to unfill me again at least a small amount and I don't want to do it. but of course I will be a compliant bandster and do what my doctor says.

before wls if I had gotten to 220 lbs I would have been very happy. now being so overwhelmed by wt. loss I don't think my goal will be enough. I am down to 214 as we speak and I should be happy. I know somewhere I will be comfortable with myself hope it comes soon.

if you are having trouble sipping or even just drinking the Water you are not going to do well with a tighter band. the idea is to not eat until you feel restriction but to eat the same amount of food just this side of the restrictive feel. there is such little difference between 7.2 and 7.3. for me if I hit the feel of restriction I have gone to far and it feels the same as being stuck. also you can begin eating more and more because you don't feel restriction and the food is actually moving from your pouch up your esophagus. I wish you luck. being in the green is a wonderful place to be. I hope you find yours.

How Did You Find and Choose Your Bariatric Surgeon?
terrydumont46 replied to Alex Brecher's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
my pcp recommended my surgeon. He was so concerned with all my diseases and illnesses and wanted everyone of them addressed. it took almost 2 years to see all the specialists. but I appreciated it. I had everyone of my doctors approve wls so I went into it very confidant. my surgeon moved to florida so I am now with his partner at the time. -
I drink crystal light lemonade flavor or orange and I have just discovered strawberry orange. it's pretty good. I alternate with good old fashion spring water. coffee in the morning.

Has anyone else experienced this?
terrydumont46 replied to fezik23's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
my b12 levels have been high. my first step was to just take them on weekdays and when that didn't bring the levels down I went to every other day and no weekends. now I just don't take them anymore. I think I get enough for me through the multi vit. -
Less then 36 hours till surgery!
terrydumont46 replied to MamaRita's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was so excited about my future I didn't care about the discomfort I was in. you will do fine. the pain is tolerable and treated with med's and just remember the sooner you are up and walking the better. use a heat pad to your left shoulder if you have gas pain. ice packs to your incisional pain. drink plenty of fluids. and give yourself a break. you will have just had surgery so rest. best wishes -
bandages and suture
terrydumont46 replied to stemar's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
yes the answer to your question. 10 days is to long. call your doctor and go in and have the sutures removed. the bandages should have come off long ago. in most cases we are showering by the second day. -

well, I just had to share with you all that while everything was going alright and I was doing so well. lost 13 lbs and started exercising again since my knee surgery. but I am now having some problems with esophagus pain and not being able to tolerate solids again. I had 4 episodes since the beginning of august of severe nausea and vomiting. so I am going back in for a upper gi with barium swallow and to get unfilled. I cried and cried yesterday because I tried really hard and was compliant. I hope the upper gi doesn't show anything and a bit of a unfill is all I need. boy am I ever praying. and although this doesn't have anything to do with what I am going through I just want to remind people to please call your doctor when complications are happening. than come and talk with us. there have been several postings where ppl haven't notified their doctor of problems. stop complications before they become serious. things can happen even when you are doing everything correctly.

terrydumont46 replied to terrydumont46's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
so glad that I had the knee surgery. they found a torn meniscus and part of my cartiledge was broken off and laying down by my shin. we thought I would need full knee replacement but didn't. it is so strong. and mostly pain free thanks for asking -
I was denied coverage by the insurance company due to the employers clause
terrydumont46 replied to jenjen1653's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I don't know about your age or anything. but medicare pays for wls. so if you are on social security or disabliltiy you can appy for medicare I think in oct. I remember when my surgery was postponed for the second time I started crying hard in the doctor office. he took pity and made my surgery happen. and I have been so glad ever since. losing wt. is a God send -
Weight loss drives a whole new sex drive
terrydumont46 replied to HealthyNewMe's topic in The Lounge
I think so many of us have put sex on the back burner. the old saying of not using you lose it applies. need to rev up our sexual urges by using it. start alone or whatever and see if you can feel again. and don't forget some medications really lower libido. -
first year free and now I pay 20% which comes to about 30.00 dollars. my fills are part of the doctor visit not extra.

use amazon to buy nectar and all lot more of the protein powders and bars. they are cheaper

HOW many calories?!?!
terrydumont46 replied to JustWatchMe's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
i had several the first one was Protein drinks. my protein is 100 calories but i was mixing it with skim milk adding 110 calories to my shake. now i am more careful what i mix my shake with. the other was salmon. until i got the scale that records all the stuff i ate salmon 3-4 times a week. it has as many calories as a regular steak. my doctor reassured me the fat in salmon is good stuff so don't worry about it. but i switched to tilapia which has 110 calories and the thickness or slimness is all good with me. but fresh salmon is something i can't resist. my neighbors and family go salmon fishing and i get my share. yea -
first thing you need to do is see your doctor. he may want to do a endoscopy or barium swallow or take out some Fluid. do not ignore this. it is not normal to be getting stuck this often. you can cause some complications unless this is address by your md. but you are likely right in assuming that you are eating incorrectly. it is hard and the way we have to eat doesn't come naturally. right now I would give your band a break and go back to liquids for a few days. you may be swollen from all the stuck issues. call your doctor
-
run the 5k. your hip will let you know if it won't tolerate it. bursitis is no fun. have it in my shoulder. good luck on your run
-
don't ignore what your gut is telling you. I did and it caused some complications. if a band is to tight the food starts to go back up the esophagus causing spasms and pain. if you are pb'ing frequently you may cause your band to slip. so please call your doctor.

Why do I need so much protein?
terrydumont46 replied to MrsOptimistic's topic in Pre-op Diets and Questions
today I got a haircut. I have had my hair long for awhile but I am so tired of the hair falling out. I am real careful to get a minimum of 60 grams of protein a day but I usually get more in. stress is also a big factor in hair loss and while we are losing wt. we are under stress. so count your protein, drink water and take your supplements, everything is in place for successful wt. loss. oh my hair dresser said that I still had plenty of hair and lots of new hair growing. yea!!!
