    Is this normal?

Hi Jamie, try drinking almost frozen juice the cold will help reduce the swelling.

    Is this normal?

Hi Jamie, a 1/4 can of soup? That is worrisome sounding, be careful having the band too tight will cause you injury, continue to monitor over a 72 hr period, but even if this is swelling this seems a bit extreme. If you don't see an improvement by the end of the day Monday I would personally request a minor 1/4 of a cc to .50 cc de-fill, this is what I would do if I were in your shoes, just based on the information my doctor's and nurses have given me. Call up the clinic on Monday and tell them what's been going on and ask them what they think you should do. Did you do a barium swallow during or after your fill?

I wouldn't worry about the progress of others right now please focus on your recovery. You may not be loosing weight rapidly because you don't have as much weight to loose and or your metabolism maybe real slow. After you have completely healed you may want to consider walking 30 min a day. I also had the same results after surgery I did not drop the weight like others, and my weight had stood still. I've just had my third fill one year after surgery so I'm hoping to see the pounds come off, but I can't watch anyone else and what they're doing or else I'll fail for sure. I am focusing on me and my weight journey and this is as unique as you are in this world. Some things that you can do once you've been given the all clear is to remember to eat 6 times a day three meals, three Snacks (this will help boost your metabolism and walk for 30min. Your are so young the weight will come off you have youth on your side but you will have to do some work. Hang in there and surround yourself with positive people and avoid negative people like the plague.

Your rapid healing process has a lot to do with your young age, it sounds like you do not have any restriction, your body does need to heal please follow the diet plan and since you are healing so quickly I'd check with your doctor and see if you can eat cream of wheat, or oatmeal Jello some fuller thicker fluids.

Chaqwela how old are you? If you don't mind me asking your down time and recovery time was so fast? How many Ccs in the band right now? Do you know what size band you received? Please, please try and hang in there it will be worth it trust me.

    I'm hungry!

No way you're not weird it depends on how much Ccs your doctor was able to place in your band at the time of surgery. I was not able to get a lot of Ccs I was at 6ccs after my surgery and I did get hungry during my healing phase. It is so important that you stick with the healing phase of your diet while you recoup, you don't want your stomach muscles tearing away the stitches placed around your stomach and band. Try to consume cream of wheat (make sure the consistency is very loose by adding milk to it) and Protein water/drinks really help and Jello. Good luck

    To tight??

I just had a chat with my support people today and was advised that it takes about 1.5 - 2 weeks for the fill to take full effect. The nurse advised me that if I started to get any acid reflux, vomiting, excessive burping then the band is too tight. Maybe you might need a very small de-fill. This is not normal for the band. I've had it for a year I've had 3 fills and I've not encountered the things you are encountering. If the band tighten's because of stress you would be productive burping no vomit no heart burn. Since you can still drink fluids I would play around with it over the weekend like try taking smaller bites or drinking warm tea if this does not help I would contact your doctor's office and request a small de-fill.

Why Can't I Eat Right After A Fill?

Thank you all (well most of you ) for your support and words of encouragement to stick to the doctors orders, the truth of the matter is I've been under an extreme amount of stress this week ( lack of sleep, getting mortgage approval, fertility treatments and testing and my hell on earth job) and everything toppled down on me today lick a tone of bricks. I messed up and ate solids after my fill today, today was the first time I broke the rules by not following the doctor's orders and I was scared that I had ruined my surgery and or caused some sort of physical damage to my body. Since the installation of my slimband 1 year ago it has really helped me with my emotional eating and I've prided myself on being able to stick with the program. I feel horrible that I let the stress in my life affect me this way but I am determined to get back on track and SOME of the feedback I've received here has really helped me get my mind straight and get myself back on track. I've had my Slimband for a year this was my third fill, I have a 10 cc band and I currently have 7.5 cc's in my band as today. I would like others in the lapband talk community to know that I am in no way advocating that they not follow their doctor's orders I would encourage everyone to stick to the rules and if you're feeling emotional or upset reach out and talk it through. The Lapband talk really really helped me in that regard; my hubby was at work and unable to answer my call, so I ate I wish I had thought about coming to lapband talk first. I found the majority of people here at lapband talk to be very honest and kind, I've learned that staying negative or allowing negative people to permeate your space will set you up for failure so avoid them at all cost. So with that I didn't beat myself up ( I used to beat myself up in the past, but ever since i've had the slimband installed I've become a whole lot mentally stronger) moving forward I'm just going to dust myself off and move forward. I will be back on liquids for the next 24 hours and then move to thicker liquids for the next 24 hours and then back on solids. And the next time I'm feeling overwhelmed, upset and or stressed out I will log on here and vent :-) Thank you for responding to my post.

Why Can't I Eat Right After A Fill?

Thank you for the post You're right I should follow the doctor's orders I am under an extreme amount of stress and it all came toppling down on me today. I'm currently undergoing the process of applying for a mortgage and trying to have a baby(fertility treatments) this has been such a stressful time for me especially today. I had so much going on with work it all just came down on me today and I caved I wanted to know if I was doing any damage to the band by eating. This was my first time emotional eating since I had the ban put in a year ago. I appreciate the kind words of encouragement. I messed up today for the first time and was feeling extremely anxious about the decision not to follow my doctors orders.

    Is this normal?

Your band is too tight, the band will get tighter in a few more days. If the band gets tighter I'd go back to the doctor for a small defill. Keep monitoring for the next 24 hrs. If you're having issues with simple fluids you will have issues with solids this reaction to your new fill is not normal.
