Thanks everyone. I hate to encourge or discourage this surgery... I want it to be her decision totally. For any of us that has been on every kind of diet known to man - its so very hard to mentally conceive the idea that something (WLS) can actually give permanent weightloss. She's still thinking about it!

My mom has been overweight ALL of her life. Not just overweight, but MO. She has very high BP and is also a severe diabetic. She NEVER has any energy - takes about 4 naps a day; and she is always in so much pain from arthritis. Im thinking that her maintenance drugs total around 10 a day! Anyway, last spring - when I was 'investigating' WLS, she was somewhat interested herself. She said several times that she wanted to see my progress from the band, then she would decide if this surgery is for her. Well, she's still thinking about it! So, what I would like to know... has any of you had this many health problems, had WLS and recover well? Im just scared I love her so much! Couldnt imagine what I would do without her!

"He said to take Prilosec twice a day" Kathy, ((hugs)) girl, Ive truly been out of the loop for the last few days. My goodness, I had no idea this was going on! Be careful when taking this prilosec - please crush well before taking it! Also, I remember you attempting the v-8 juice several threads ago. Hang on to that thought for now... tomatoes are very acidic and can cause stomach irritation. Remember: fruit is the easiest food for our tummy to digest. IF you feel that you can try something other than broth or tea, then try a natural fruit drink - the ones that come in a single can, like pear necter. And drink it room temp - not refrigerated! This is very nourshing - AND easy for our digestive system. I will definately pray for you tonight.... so sorry to hear this!

Lauren, when did you get this new fill? My surgeon ask us to stay on liquids for 2 days, then 2 days mushy food following a fill. I remember it was a whole week before I could tolerate regular food after my last fill. So take it slow and easy - our tummy's are very swollen and sore from this adjustment. What kind of "soft" foods are you having?
-
Awe Kathy, so sorry you are dealing with this! Being constipated is so uncomfortable - believe me, I know (Queen Dynamite, here;) ) ! The benefiber worked for a few days for me... then it stopped! So here lately Ive been taking 2 generic senekot's every other day/or every 2 days... it works! It works very well! Good luck!

Lori, ((hugs)) my goodness! What a horrible experience. My first guess would be to get your surgeons input - but looks like youve already done that. You cant keep anything down? How long has this been happening?
-
Wow Mary... if you find out - let me know! I need one too!!!.

Hey Val! That is good news! Hope everything is positive from here on!

Hi Wild Blu! Ive been having nighttime reflux off and on since December - my last fill. Everytime I think that its time to get a slight unfill, the reflux stops. Because I was worried about the reflux being due to a slipped band, I asked for a barium swallow to check on the position. Everything checked out ok. Soon afterwards the reflux was much better. Probably due to a number of things... prilosec qd and no eating after 8pm. For the past week this reflux junk has kicked up again. I even called my pcp today to get a script for something stronger then prilosec. (shrugs shoulders) I dont know! Have you read our "sticky" thread about reflux? Good luck - and let me know what happens.
-
Hi Mark, I just took a peek at your site. Which one are you?
-
Gosh Joan, what a horrible feeling... (((hugs))) When I was a teen there was a guy that I became friends with that was a little on the weird side. One night I was sitting in my room with my window open, listening to my music. I got the funnist feeling that I was being watched. When I turned to the window, I saw him peeking in.

How do you know if you are too tight?
paula replied to wanttobe110's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Kristen, YES! that .3cc's can actually make a big difference in level of restricion. Im noticing that your first fill was on March 21. Keep in mind that many of us (like me) do not gain restriction until 4-6 weeks after a fill. So with you having 2 more fills right after each other, you may indeed be too tight. Are you experiencing any nighttime reflux? Thats another symptom of being too tight. -
Babs, for me - you hit the nail on the head! Everything was right on.... from Constantine to Anthony! Good analyzing!
-
poor Anthony... I think its his night to bid farewell! Vonzell has improved so much - so has Constantine. And I still like Anwar! I sure hope they give these kids a better selection of music to chose from for next week! The last couple of weeks have been :lick yuck!

Pam - IT WILL HELP!!! I promise. It will most likely take more then 1 treatment for you to notice a different though. Thanks Tammy for that info! For those that are interested, heres my update: about 3 weeks ago (1 month after 2nd treatment) I noticed that it was time to start shaving/plucking again. Although its just a few hairs here and there... Id say an overall 75% reduction of facial hair. Still no black roots! (thats the main thing) I am still very pleased with the outcome so far!

Who are you and what have you done with my wife?
paula replied to Alexandra's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
OMG... Alex, you look awesome! I bet your hubby is wondering where his wife is?!?! Awe... love the pics of those beautiful girls! Have you cut your hair??? -
Hey Pam, thanks for letting us know you took the plunge! My first visit was $112.50, and on my next visit, I'm going to buy a 3 visit package which is $270. I think this is a fairly good price. What area(s) are you having done?
-
Hi and Welcome to LBT! Agreeing with what Alex said earlier, usually our weightloss averages 1-2 lbs a week. good luck!

Hey Lisa.... just because I have 3 little kiddo (4 counting their father) doesnt mean that Im 'distracted' from eating. Since Im an emotional eater - and stay stressed out ALL of the time - guess what I do??? (maybe I need to call Nanny 911) :tired Regardless, we ALL have our demons to deal with. I wish I could say that the band has done all these wonderful things to help change me OR my way of eating.... when actually its only made me super conscience of everything I put into my mouth... Thats it! As far as not posting as much on LBT as you used to... hmmmm, well, you are one of the most valuable members on this board, considering all of your banding and life experiences.. How sad that you are feeling that "certain members are control freaks" Basically, by not posting as much, isnt this considered a type of being controlled? I wish I could be in the chat room tonight, but i have Spanish class from 6-730, then kids to tend to. I will check in around 9 to see if anyone is around... hang in there girl, were all in this together!
-
oh my goodness.... heaven! Oh Betty! That first picture where there is a man on a chez relaxing.... thats actually me - just looks like a man - but its really me! Noone else out there.... & the only sounds are the birds chirping.... ahhhhh, like I said, HEAVEN! Thank you so much for my 2 minute vacation! I needed it!

Hey Megan, here's one for revenge... A Kentucky farmer's wife came home just in time to find her husband in bed with another woman. With super-human strength, borne of fury and cutting calves, she dragged him down the stairs, out the back door, and into the tool shed out back of the barn. She put his tally-whacker in a vice, and then secured it tightly and removed the handle. Next she picked up an old carpenter's saw. The banged up farmer was terrified, and hollered, "Stop! Stop! You're not gonna cut it off with that rusty damn saw, are you?" The wife, with a gleam of revenge in her eye, put the saw in her husband's hand and said, "Nope. I'm gonna set this old shed on fire, and go to town for a cold beer. You do whatever you think is right.
