Hi Karen! Welcome welcome WELCOME to LBT! Where in Texas are you from? (we have alot of Texans here)
-
My goodness.... already -10lbs??????????? WoW!!!! How are you feeling so far? And still no smokes?
-
wooo hooo Alex! A 14-16???? you go!!! Pat, Im like you, bigger on top (xl) and 14-16 on bottom. And Alex, you are right, this is getting to be a fun! Last Sunday me & Anne had a "girlfriend day" (what she called it) we both wore lime green shirts with b/j shorts... we went to Target and she insisted on me getting some PINK flip/flops to match hers - so we could complete our clothing ensemble. We had so much fun. But the most excitement was from the fact that we were able to dress alike!!!!!!!!!!! Wouldnt have felt comfortable doing this as a 24.

Christine, Welcome to LBT! Just wondering, where are you located in Texas? Are you close enough to the border to continue aftercare in Mex?

Hi Bobby, There are only a couple of things that are on my "forbided" food list. Other then that, I continue to try things even though the last time I had them, I was brought into a pb moment. My guess is that different things in our enviroment.... stress, allergies, lack of sleep, being too hungry, (for women) PMS, over exhausted.... MANY things determine our level of restricion at different times of the day! I know, weird, eh? This unpredictability is what has my mom and sister turned off - b/c they are both WLS candidates. How true! But whats really mental, is that when I 'recognize' this feeling, I still test myself and try to eat..........

Being sore is to be expected... gosh, you just had surgery. And your just 3 days post op! sick? what exactly do you mean. Are you nauseated? vomiting? fever? About gaining 3 pounds... have you had a BM yet? During my first week post op, I had a little diarrhea off and on. I think this is why I lost 12 pounds my first week, and nothing again until I had a fill. Hang in there... yes! It does get better. But remember, this phase is about healing. After your first fill is when youll start the real weightloss. Good luck & God bless!

Greg, this is interesting. In my heavier days, my allergies/sinuses were much worst too! hmmmm.
-
Just wondering if any of you have ever heard of this new way of getting a tanned look... Id love to try it! http://www.mystictan.com/home.htm Ever heard of it?
-
Hi Queen, Welcome to LBT! WOW... Thats just 2 days away! Good luck!
-
Hey everyone! Im bringing this thread up again because I have more questions about the self-tanning stuff. Ive used the neutragena tanning foam in the past and loved it! But recently Ive noticed that Loreal & Neutragena *both* have a new self airbrush tanning. Anyone tried it?
-
Hi Trish, just thinking about ya! Please check in and give us a report!!!
-
End of Feb. I had a little sinus stuff, and definately experienced more restriction. So, yep! I agree with this......

Surburban, Your symptoms are alot like reflux... are you sure this is not what you are experiencing? If you want to give yourself a little test (for reflux), try not to eat OR drink (even water) at least 3-4 hours before going to bed. Just see if this helps. Alot of times, reflux occurs in bandsters when our band is a little too tight. Good luck, and let us know how this turns out!

Hurry up and do whatever you are doing - cause we missssssss you!

Thanks Kendra, for this wonderful comparison. I am so sorry to hear this about John. But this is a very good example of why me and numerous others have chosen the band over GBP. With that being said, I must comment about the hanging skin. I think its more genetics then the fast/slow weight loss. My friend Ann had her GBP in May. Her starting weight was 270. I saw her when she had met her 100lb goal, and NO HANGING SKIN ON HER ARMS! Her stomach was in bad condition, but her upper arms looked awesome. She walks daily, but not with weights. Me - other the other hand- I have serious batwings. So???? Fast OR slow, alot of it depends on genetics as to our skins elasticity.
-
Mary, the one about being stressed out... I LOVED IT!!!!!! LOL. oh yes!!!! You got a laugh out of me!
-
Hi Longhorn! Welcome to LBT! Hope you come and visit often. Good luck on getting the band... its an exciting journey!
-
I agree! But on a personal note... Wine is a yes! (thank God) Beer is a no! I am one that the carbonation nearly kills me... the bad outweighs the good on this one beverage. I truly miss my coors light!
-
this is a question that you need to ask your insurance company. My Ins. was satisfied with a doctors report stating dates of the different programs he put me on, and the diet pills he prescribed. Each company has their own requirements we need to meet for WLS! Good luck!
-
This is exactly what I would do (and did)! I may even go a little longer - possibly a week... then again, Im not sure if I can actually last on liquids for a week. Thats hard. I like the slim fast lo-carb protien shakes, also the atkins brand shakes. Both are easy to find: Walmart, grocery stores. Good luck, and keep us updated on your recovery. wait!!!!!! I just re -read your post. You said a small meal for supper?!? NOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!! please dont. Try just liquids for a couple of days, then ease into mushies (pudding, think soups) for 2 more days. Trust me, this could determine the end result of getting an unfill!

South Beach Diet Food At The Stores!!!
paula replied to Tarafeena's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Tara, thanks for letting us know! Im DEFINATELY gonna try 'em! hmmmm, maybe by putting them in the oven, they become crispy...??? *Which is what a bandster needs* By microwaving, the tortilla tends to become more soft/chewy... resulting in a possible pb! Just my 2 cents. Im like Penni, I have trouble with soft tortilla's. -
I know its discouraging... such a slow process! My thought is that Ive under gone the knife to lose weight, and Ive only lost X amount in X amount of time! My only consolation is knowing that it took a while to put it on, therefore its gonna take a while to get it off! Here is a link that I refer to when I start questioning myself as to whether or not I need a fill: http://lapbandtransformation.com/Adjustments.htm I also agree with Betty.... sometimes being too restricted can actually cause us to consume higher calorie liquids - resulting in a slower weight loss. Good luck and God Bless you on this journey!

My husband was extremely supportive from the very first utterance I gave of WLS! A few of his co-workers had GBP, so he was *somewhat* familear... although he said "no way" for me having the GBP! Like Kathy, my hubby also helped me look up stuff on the internet about the band.... I think this helps our partners feel "included" on this decision. good luck!
-
Nykee, when I had my 2nd & last fill (back in Nov) I remember drinking my Water in the office and feeling it gurggle as it made its way down.... this is NOT something I experienced after my first fill. *Although* both times I gained more restriction about 4-6 weeks later... you may the same! Have you called your surgeons office to let them know how much you were able to eat?

I missed it lastnight can anyone tell me who was voted off ????
