Gosh Penni - had you on my mind the last couple of days, thinking you were inhaling the new G-baby. So sorry to hear you were dealing with other, not so good, things. ((hugs))

paula replied to lotsofkids's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi Daine, thanks for the update! Im sure there are many people that your husband comes in contact with that has had WLS. Its a shame he cant get a converstation going with one of them. It may change his outlook. :phanvan And good for you for getting the families fat jokes stopped! You are right - its a move inthe right direction. About exercising with the leg injury... have you thought about Water aerobics? This exercise would take the pressure off your joints - and help build muscle, without harming anything. Good luck. Im so happy for you :clap2: -
Its really not that bad. (not as bad as you think it is) When Im really craving a fresh hot roll - just out of the oven - with melted butter oozing over the sides.... Ill get one and take a small bite... then regret it. Then Im instantly cured of my bread cravings.

:welcome: Hi Breed ~ hope you enjoy all the wonderful reading's. How much weight have you lost? Again, Welcome!
-
Thanks for the information. Basically, if these things dont get ya moving - nothing will! Unfortunately, for me ~ tortillia's =

Trish, You are right, this is good info that you should know. I probably wouldve pushed this issue with my surgeon a little more. I mean, he's telling you one thing and your personal ID card says something else? hmmm, I would start by phoning his office tomorrow morning and asking someone in his office to help you get the correct info.
-
Trish, This is an excellent question. I was eating lunch at Burger king today and I thought about asking these exact questions. Especially this one... I am 20 months post banding. Never had a scope. Not sure how to even request for one. I admit, Im getting concerned... at Burger King earlier - I ate a whopper jr (no bread) 2 chicken tenders and small french fries - didnt even get a stuck feeling. something isnt right!

Last week I went shopping at Sams. And you know how they are always serving the demo foods? That particular day they were serving Tilapia fish. It was cooked on an electric skillet, seasoned with lime pepper and butter. Thats it. I passed by the demo table 3 times getting samples. By the 3rd time I was getting embarrased so I figured it was time to buy a bag of it. My God in heaven..... this stuff is delish!!! yummmm Anyone else fix it???
-
Pat - thats easy enough for even ME to fix. Never thought about Italian dressing over fish. We've used it over brisket and chicken... simply delish! Im sure its just as divine with fish. Terri, have you cooked any yet?? must tell! Road Queen, your post made my taste-buds tingle. I think you and Paul need to have a LBT Tilapia feast for all of us... just name the day and time - we'll be there! Just wondering, did anyone else read Estela's post? Its on the first page. I admit - I have a weakness for authentic Mexican foods... Id definately like to try this one.

Medicine Question~ Are antibiotics okay to take with the band
paula replied to Firecallie's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Yes, it IS ok to take most oral antibiotics with the band. But I would recommed you using caution when taking certain ones. amoxi/clav Im thinking this is the generic for Augmentin. Augmentin is an antibiotic that is rough on the stomach. Sometimes nausea, vomiting & diarrhea can occur as a side effect. Make sure you take this med WITH food (not just liquids) - and you may want to increase your yogurt intake as well. The yogurt will help "coat" your banded tummy... and help protect it. Oh, and -while taking this med- try to avoid stomach irritants. :sick hope youre feeling better soon! -
Hi Paula, Im Paula too! Nice to meet you. :welcome2:

Is is really? I mean, Ive never tried crack. Just wondering (hehe) Maybe this should go on the "Weird Men" thread, but my husband gets MAD (can you believe?) when he calls home and hears my fingers tapping the keys... "Dont have time to talk to me, cause youre ALWAYS on that LBT - crap!" He calls this place crap. ...crap?
-
Susan, thanks for that reminder! Michelle, -3??? woohoo, girl! My friend lost 2 pounds in 5 days... she bought the spray version. Penni - Im waiting on mine to come home to Momma. Been eating like a big FAT old pig lately... aint nothing stopping me! Little restriciton, really bad food choices, and stress ~ makes a bad combo here.
-
:welcomeB: Hi Tammy - hope we see you around often!
-
Kind of a general rule to keep on hand... anytime you are feeling too much restriction, try drinking warm beverages (hot broth, hot choc., coffee, hot tea). For my early morning restriction, I usually a cup(s) of hot coffee - and it helps! Good luck on your first fill.

:welcome: Hi Jim. Congrat's on being newly banded. Im going to comment on the beer issue... Sadly *for me* ANY carbonated beverage (including beer) has been excluded from my menu. E V E R Y now and then I can have a few sips of my husbands (beer), but only if I have something in my tummy to help absorb the acid. You just have to give it a shot - once you are healed. Im sure there are a few bandsters that are able to have beer. dissapointing, I know. Anyhow, Welcome aboard!

There is nothing - NOTHING - cutier then a little boy and a puppy. Thanks for the smile Nickie

Jessie - that is beautiful! Take a big breath and B L O WWWWW some my way. We rarely (like every 3 or 4 years) get the white stuff

**I stole this post from Betty's thread, "Go Fish"** Here's another reason I like tilapia... not much mercury. Not all seafood is tainted with mercury or PCB's. Here's what to reel in, what to throw back. ENJOY up to two servings a week) Clams Oysters Shrimp Tilapia Crawfish Haddock Trout (freshwater) Catfish Flatfish (including flounder and sole) Mackerel (Atlantic) Scallops Crab (blue, king, and snow) Pollack Shad (American) Squid Tuna (canned chunk light) Lobster (spiny) Mackerel chub (Pacific) Cod* Perch (freshwater) Skate Halibut Spanish mackerel (South Atlantic) Monkfish* Snapper* Weakfish (sea trout) Bass (saltwater; including sea and striped) SHOW RESTRAINT (One serving a week) Lobster (northern/American) Tuna (canned white albacore, fresh/frozen) Spanish mackerel (Gulf of Mexico) Marlin Ornage roughy* Grouper* (one to two servings a month) Salmon (especially farmed) + Sardines+ Herring+ Bluefish+ AVOID King mackerel (Atlantic and Gulf of Mexico) Shark* Swordfish* Tilefish (Gulf of Mexico)* __________________________________________________ *Overfished +Contains PCBs or other pollutants Symptoms of mercury poisoning: Mucle aches, blurred vision, depression, inability to concentrate, memory loss, skin rashes. If you suspect poisioning have your doctor for a heavy-metal test of your blood, urine, or hair.

Michelle, we need an UPDATE! have you lost anything?
-
I was just wondering about this the other day. And what about Chris? Still smokeless?
-
:welcome: So glad to have you! Your insurance covers this surgery 100%????? wow. You are blessed!!! again, WELCOME!
-
Woo Hoo ~ you gotta date!!!!!!! Gosh, thats just a month away - 4 weeks! Thats not very far away. Are you having to do a pre-banding liquid diet? BTW - you changed avators! What -in the world- was that last one supposed to be? A woman? A man? A human acting like a cat? (looked like it was licking something) Those little avators are so small - couldve been just about anything!
-
Betty - what do you do with the fish before you put the salsa on it? Thanks y'all for the ideas. This fish is some good stuff. If Picky Mike can eat it - you know its gotta be good! Last time I cooked them, I sprinkled lemon juice over my fillets, buttered one side of them and (not sure what you call this next step) blackened (?) them on the elec skillet. Oh and I used lemon pepper for the seasoning this time. 'cest bon! :hungry: Cant wait to try the other ideas...
