2 days until I am banded

Make sure you have gas x strips or chewables, liquid Tylenol, and broth! If you have gas pain, walk walk walk! Having extra pillows helped get me comfortable enough to sleep. You probably won't feel like eating or drinking first few days, but make sure you force yourself to drink.

Betty, Weird, you had your surgery a day before me and we are same starting weight. I can see the change!

Betty, How many calories are you eating a day if you're counting? My doctor didn't do a 1 week follow up, I get a 3 week follow up and maybe a fill that day.

I have port tenderness too still! It's about the only thing that still hurts. I'm 10 days post op now. I'm eating about 1/2 c as well. Trying to get a lot of protein in so I don't lose my hair.

Only needle you'll be awake for is IV! After you'll have a needle for fills, but You'll be ok! Deep breaths!
  8. My pain was mostly nausea and gas pain. Medicine didn't help. Gas x didn't help all that much either. Heating pad on shoulder did. Don't be afraid of the pain, it's temporary.

    If I could diet.....

I was banded May 9th returned to work on May 13th. I worked from home half a day may 12th. I'm post op 6 days and I haven't felt hunger. The first 4 days I struggled and forced myself to drink Protein shakes and broth. Today I'm feeling a lot better, still no hunger. I move to mushies tomorrow. the pre-op wasn't too bad for me. I wasn't on liquids though. The hardest part was not eating because I felt like it. Toward the end I wasn't hungry anymore. My dr said I liver was "beautiful". Your lap band is going to be a tool. If you are confident you can use it as a tool to lose weight, consider it.

Kellogg's makes a Special K protein water mix in, it's only 5g of protein, but it's better than nothing. They have pink lemonade and strawberry kiwi flavor. I found it in "diet" section of grocery.

Best of luck! Make sure you have liquid Tylenol, gas x chewables or strips, and some protein powder or shakes you can stomach for a while!

    Hurting!

I'm 5 days post op, I was banded the 9th of May, and my port is finally starting to really hurt. I swear I can feel it inside my body when I move. I had to sit a lot a at work today and I feel like it did me in. I've been doing well during the days, at night I have more pain and nausea. Anyone else like that too?

We had our surgery the same day! I didn't know there was a card until the doctor gave it to me when I was being discharged. I have never heard of it before so maybe its super secretive. I use my fittnespal to log my food intake, today was the first day anything was on there except Popsicles! Let me know if you use it so we can be buddies on it. I have had to put the heating pad on my stitches they hurt a lot specially at night. Yesterday I drinked about 1/3 of a cup of protein drink and it took care of the case issue all too well .... I'm in myfitness pal too! Nikicbaby is my username.I was told no hearing pad in m steri-strips, I've been doing an ice PACk sometimes. Maybe I'll ask about the card at my appointment in 2 weeks.

I've been keeping track because I'm super anal about counting calories and weighing everything now. I didn't get my card, I didn't even know there was a card. Nights have been hard for me too. I can't stand laying flat it hurts too much. I've been using a heating pad on my left shoulder to see if it'll help with gas pain. Not sure anything is helping really. I had my surgery may 9th.

Day 4 post op. Took a 20 minute walk today before going back to work for a few hours. I was feeling pretty good. Haven't taken any hydrocodon since day 2 post op. I was able to eat or drink rather more than ever today, I got down 8oz protein shake, about 40oz water and 4 oz of broth. We took a short walk after "dinner" now I'm beat, have nausea, and I think I over did it. Gas pain is worse at night. Hopefully everyone is feeling good. Looking forward to not being in pain.

This happened to me too! But I went through 6 months of copays and visits and my surgery was scheduled for January 10th then I found out my insurance coverage changed to meet ACA standards January 1st and was no longer covering it. So I'm paying out of pocket for it now.

    Birth Control

I take sprintec birth control pills and I've not had any issues with moodiness or weight fluctuations. The pill is very small. I've taken it for 5 years and haven't had any issues with it.
