How long before you return to work?

I was banded on a Monday and went back to work the following Wednesday. So...I was out 1.5 weeks. Everyone is different. Take your time and heal well.

    NSV...Yah for me!!!

Okay, so Saturday night I went to a friend of the family's surprise 30th birthday party. I wore jeans, a sweater, and a pair of boots. I think I was looking pretty good, if I do say so myself. Anyway...I was sitting at my table and my Aunt came up to me and said..."I just have to tell you...you look so f***ing good". I started cracking up. That made me feel totally awesome. Even my boots were smaller. I used to wear a size 9 and on Saturday I was wearing a size 8 shoe. Woo Hoo...I'm so excited!!! Did I mention that I LOVE MY BAND????? :whoo:
  3. I was so worried that it was gone for good. I'm so glad that it's back. I may not get the chance to come on here everyday, but when I do get the chance and it's not available...I freak out. I'm so glad that it's back...now I can sigh a sigh of relief.:clap2:

    MD Lap-Band Support Group Meeting

Hi Steve...Dr. Brody is my Angel...I very highly recommend him. He is very gentle, kind, smart and has a wonderful bedside manner. I feel completely comfortable with him and his entire staff. My experience at GW Hospital is nothing short of extraordinary. Everyone was very nice and made my stay very comfortable. Please feel free to PM me if you have any questions or if you want any more information. Good luck to you...
  5. Welcome, congratulations and good luck. I am from Maryland, so I'm not too far from you. You're right...I have heard that the approval for your insurance doesn't take too long. I hope that you hear something soon.

    I'm probably the only one

I didn't ask either. I was so nervous just like you. At my second fill I finally asked. I also didn't even know what kind or what size band I had until my second fill. I just left everything up to him. I guess I figured that it really didn't matter...I had the surgery and now I had to do my part. If you really want to know, just call the office...I'm sure that you won't be the first one to call and ask. Good luck!
  7. I use Super Potency Biotin (5000 mcg) made by Rexall. I got it from WalMart for under $10. It says that it promotes the health of skin, hair and nails. Unfortunately, I cannot comment on if it works or not because I haven't taken it religiously. I bought it because the Nurse at my sugeons office recommended it. I also use Nioxin like you, but it hasn't helped at all. My hair was super thin to begin with and now it's kind of bad, but I'm dealing with it. Good luck!
  8. After my surgery I was so excited to get on the scales, only to see a 7 pound gain. I was so confused. Well...after a couple of days, it came off. You'll be fine. Don't worry now...just get better so that you can get exercising when you heal. You'll be fine. :nervous

    Needle Phobia and Fills

I was absolutely terrified for my first fill. I hate needles so much that thinking about needles was the only thing that I was scared of when I got pregnant. I wasn't worried about pushing out a baby, but I was worried about having an IV. Anyway...the needle used to numb the area is much smaller than the actual fill needle (at least it is at my doctor's office). I thought that I was going to throw up prior to my first fill. I have now had three fills and there really is nothing to it. You'll be fine.

What kind of eating disorder do you have?

I am the same way...as soon as my house is empty (no husband, no kids), I run for the refrigerator and/or the pantry. I would also sneak to McDonald's when I was on the road by myself. I would eat as much as I could as soon as I could whenever I was alone. Did I mention that I love my band?????
  11. I am a federal government employee and I have MD IPA...they covered my lapband. I only paid $50. I did have to do 6 months of supervised weight loss with my doctor, but it was worth it. This year they are going to be called "United Healthcare". I have heard from others that BCBS was easy to get approved. In fact, here at my work it took one girl 2 weeks between the time she went for a consultation and the day she got surgery...not bad!!!

    scared of dying

The funny thing about me is that I really didn't get nervous until the day before. I was so excited that my insurance approved it and that I was finally going to have control over my weight, I dind't have time to get nervous. Then...the day before I got pretty nervous but by the time I got to the hospital the next morning, all of those feelings went away and I was just ready to get in that OR. The entire hospital staff was absolutely wonderful and my doctor is the greatest. Everything should be alright. Just think of the outcome. Once the pounds start coming off, you'll forget all about the pain and the nervousness. Good luck to you!!!

    Can I share an NSV???

Great job...it feels good to be able to put on smaller clothes or to go shopping and get something that you would have never thought would fit. Did I mention...I LOVE MY BAND!!!

    one hundred and something

Good for you...I'm working on it myself, but I find I'm having difficulty. I'll get there soon enough and I'll announce it to the world...
  16. Alright, let's try this again... the top two are the morning that I began my pre-op diet (April 16, 2007). The next two were taken July 12, 2007 and the bottom two were taken October 14, 2007.

    New Here From VA

Hey there...not too far from you guys. I'm from Maryland and work in DC. Have you selected a surgeon yet? I highly recommend my surgeon if you have not. He's great. Good luck on your journey and welcome to LBT.

    tattoos

Yup...just one. It's on my ankle...it's kind of a vine with a heart in the middle. I got it right before my 30th birthday. I probably won't get any more because it hurt too bad (I'm a wimp).

    Hairloss?

Oh yeah...it's pretty normal. My hair loss started around 4 months and it has since slowed down, but not completely. I increased my protein. It helped a little, but not much. I personally think that if it's going to happen, it doesn't matter what you do to stop it, it will happen any way. Good luck. I know that it is terrible, but you'll get through it.
  20. Hi, Ginny. I had my surgery in D.C., but at George Washington Hospital Center with Dr. Fred Brody. I highly recommend him and his staff, along with everyone at the hospital. You may want to call and have a consult with him. Good luck!
  21. Just wanted to blurt out to the world that I went to the mall tonight and I bought my very first ever pair of jeans from Old Navy. I can't believe it. I have NEVER been able to fit into anything from there before. I bought a size 18 and I have to wear a belt. I should have tried on a 16 but I was so excited to get on the 18's, I immediately went to the register and paid for them. My cell phone bill is giong to be crazy because I called everyone that I knew to tell them about it. I love my band!!! Oh...almost forgot...also went shoe shopping and my feet are now a size smaller too... Look out Summer 2008, who knows what that may bring...:rockon::rockon::rockon::rockon:

Shopping for clothes is getting fun...

I feel the same way. I refuse to go out and spend a lot of money on clothes that hopefully won't fit for very long. I know that my co-workers are tired of seeing the same old clothes every week, not to mention the ones that are huge on me and make me look horrible. Once I get to where I want to be...I'll be all about the shopping spree. I try to pick up some inexpensive items when I'm out. This whole experience is very different for me (and frustrating at times). In the end...we're all going to be some very hot chicks!!! :eyebrows:

Waldorf, Maryland...25 miles south of Washington, DC
  25. When I took in too much protein, I had TERRIBLE gas. The pains were unbearable and it was not very pleasant.
