    Loose Skin

Every individual is different. I will need a TT, however, I probably could have used one many years ago prior to losing weight. Following the birth of my first child, my stomach "fell" towards the ground...there was no bouncing back and at the time I was 26 years old. So...some people have great elasticity (sp?) in their skin and others don't (I obviously don't). Good luck with your weight loss.

    Urban Legends Here?

I don't know about "Urban Legends", but I think that everyones experience with the band is different. Some people have complications, some don't. Some folks have a hard time with the band (PB a lot), some don't. I think that it's up to each and every individual. I would hope that folks don't come on here and tell untrue stories, but...we can't be blind to the fact that there are people out there that do such a thing. Good luck!

    Is it selfish?

I have two children and let me just say...it is so much easier and so much more fun now to play with them. I'm down 87 pounds and I run around with them, go outside, jog, ride bikes, you name it. In fact...they can't keep up with me now. They start complaining that their legs hurt when we go walking. They are 7 and 4 and very skinny (in fact, it's difficult to find clothes to fit them). Anyway...my only regret about the band is that I didn't get it sooner. I had gestational diabetes with my first pregnancy and they told me that if I didn't lose weight I would get it later in life. I was also on an anti-inflamatory for very sore feet. They would get so bad that I could barely walk to the bathroom in the morning. My doctor said that it was because of my weight. Well guess what...no problems anymore. In fact, I now RUN on my treadmill...that's right...I run, not walk and in October I am participating in the 3 day breast cancer walk (60 miles). So...go for it!!!

    Today is my birthday...

Oh no...don't get me wrong...I think that the delivery charge for Valentine's Day is crazy. So...I don't mind not receiving flowers on Valentine's Day because of course they jack up the price. However...the street vendors here in DC...not so good flowers. They don't even fit in any of my vases. I hate to sound like this, like I'm ungrateful or something, but I would have much rather liked the Starbucks card that Short1 got. At least at the grocery store, they are a much prettier arrangement (OK...I think that I'm sounding a little high maintenance and ungrateful here). I'm really grateful for anything, I just thought that he would put more thought into it. So... to make up for it...I went shopping on Friday...got great deals on clothes and got a new Coach bag. I feel much better. LOL

    Today is my birthday...

Wheetsin- I feel absolutely horrible. Here you were, on your birthday, answering my post about my PB and I didn't even say "Happy Birthday". I didn't know...I am so sorry. I hope that you had a wonderful birthday. On another note, I think we are married to the same man. My husband doesn't "get it" either. He has no clue. I blame his parents. I am one of those people who go all out on holidays. I absolutely LOVE to give. Well... he is always bitching about how much money I spend, how many people I buy for, etc. So...for the past couple of Christmas' I have really paid attention to his parent's gift giving. Don't you know that they have not given him a gift in several years for Christmas? They make it a point to come out our home, give our children gifts (not much), give me a gift and nothing for him. I don't get it, but it answers lots of questions in my mind. My husband is a kind person and good provider, but like yours, not a romantic bone in his body. He always wants a "list" of things that I want. I used to give him a list but he would go down the list, buy everything, nothing more, nothing less. I finally got to the point where I said, I can just go out and buy what I want. I want you to go into a store and say, I really think she'll like that. So...this past Christmas, he did rather well. However, this past Valentine's Day...not so good...a pack of roses off of the street vendor. So...he NEEDS lots of work. Anyway...hope that you had a great birthday and thinks for your help regarding my PB. Have a great day.
  9. OK...I'm almost 10 months out and never have I had a PB. This morning, while eating breakfast, I felt full and stopped. Well...shortly after I felt like something was stuck. I got up and walked around, as that normally helps. The feeling got worse, I went to the restroom, dry heaved a couple of times and then wham...out came something. Now...I have read descriptions on here about a PB not really being like throwing up, but this was like throwing up to me, so I don't know. Now...I feel like I have to do it again but it won't come out. What's going on? I don't have an upset stomach like the flu or anything, but I am absolutely miserable. This feeling has been going on for over an hour now. Is this normal? Did I PB? What about when you know that you still have stuff in there and can't get it out...what do you do? Do you make yourself throw up? Any help is appreciated.

Did I just PB? Need help.

PB stands for "Productive Burp". I don't really understand that because it was nothing like a burp and it didn't seem too productive. Don't worry about it. You will be fine. As long as you don't push it and you follow the rules, you should have no issues. It took me a long time to have a PB and if I have it my way I won't have any more. Good luck on your journey. I'm sure that you will do great!

    Just Banded in Gainesville, FL

Congratulations on your recent surgery and welcome to the boards. Unfortunately I didn't find this site until after my surgery but it sure has come in handy since then. Good luck on your journey.

    Biggest Loser

It's back on tonight. YEAH!!! It is a "must see". I love the Black Team too. I'm really not feeling Bob this season. What's up with him? I think that he's mad because he never has the winner. I really like Bernie and Brittany. I would love to see them as the final two. The brothers are on my last nerve (at least Mark is). I can't wait until he's sent home. BTW...thanks for the comments on my pic. Those guys were so nice. I met them at a Health and Fitness Expo that was held in DC. I heard that they were going to be there and I just had to go and meet them. I was so excited that they were the first people that I saw. Anyway...happy watching tonight!!!

    I have a collar bone

Thanks, everyone. It really feels good to hear these kind words. Often I want to eat all of the fun "kids" snacks in the pantry, but after seeing pictures and hearing wonderful things, I head to the better choices. This is a tough struggle but I'm willing to continue because I feel so much better about myself. Thanks again!

    Anyone start out around 275?

I am 5'4 1/2" (5'4 on my paperwork) and started at 275. I'm now at 188 (down 87 pounds) and I had my surgery April 30, 2007. You can do it. I really haven't set my "goal" yet because I figured that I would know when I get there. I'm guessing that I want to lose about another 40-45 pounds, but I'm not really sure. Prior to surgery I was wearing a very tight size 22 pants...I really needed a 24 but refused to buy it. I was also wearing a 2x shirt, sometimes 3x. I'm currently in a 14/16 (regular, not plus) pants and a L/XL top. Below are my before and now pics so you can get a better idea. Also...regarding the boobs comments in here...my cup size has not changed which I found very odd. I went to Victoria Secrets the other day and got measured for the heck of it. Prior to surgery I was a 42D and now I'm a 38D. I guess everyone is different. You can totally reach your goal by changing your life when you get your band. You have to remember that the band is a tool and you have to change what you eat and how you exercise. I wish you the very best of luck.

Did I just PB? Need help.

COSkinnyGirl, don't sweat it. It took me 10 months before having this episode. I really thought that I was going to go without having one, unfortunately I was wrong. I have been stuck before and I didn't feel stuck this time, but apparently I was. I think that if you take your time eating, chew thoroughly and do what you're suppose to do you will be fine. Don't worry... I have to say that the band has been very good to me otherwise. I have lost 87 pounds so far. You can do it. Don't let the horror stories scare you away. I have to be honest and tell you that I totally hated this PB, but in all honesty, it wasn't that horrible. I just hated the fact that I was at work. You'll be fine...just take it easy. Wheetsin---again...thanks so much for all of the information. I did fine over the weekend. Although...I didn't eat anything on Friday because I was shopping ALL day. I got some absolutely AMAZING deals on stuff. Anyway...I did take it easy when I ate and I seem absolutely fine now. Thanks so much for everything. This website is great. Everyone is always so helpful and willing to jump in and answer any questions. Thanks everyone!!!

    Hello From Maryland

Hi Ms. Bee, Congratulations on your upcoming surgery. Sorry to hear about the delay. Who is your surgeon and where in Maryland are you from? I'm from Southern Maryland and my surgeon is Dr. Brody. Anyway...regarding your ticker. Go to tickerfactory.com. You can set it up there and cut and paste the URL into your signature. Good luck with everything.

Did I just PB? Need help.

Thanks so much to everyone. Wheetsin---you are a wealth of information. I went through the rest of the day with no issues. I didn't dare put anything else in my mouth though...I was too scared. For dinner I had cream of crab soup (fed the DH king crab legs and made the kids a heart shaped pizza). I knew that a PB was bound to happen one day. I think that I did pretty good by going almost 10 months without one. I can assure you that I never want that to happen again and if I have any say over it, it won't. I have had a love/love relationship with my band but today I wasn't so much in love with it. I'll get over it and move on, but I don't know how people can do that two and three times a week. That's not for me. Again guys, thanks so very much for all of your replies. It really did help me through my very first PB. On a better note...off to the outlets tomorrow for some new clothes...you know...ones that actually fit me now.

Did I just PB? Need help.

Thanks so much for the responses. I just got back from the bathroom again. OK...here's the situation...it did have thick saliva looking stuff and some chewed food. However...it also did taste and smell like normal vomit. I'm very confused. I dry heaved again before it came out. I have also heard of some PBs coming from people's noses. This all came out of my mouth. I don't feel any discomfort right now, (aside from the normal chest pressure from throwing up) but then again I just got back to my desk (oh what fun...I'm at work right now). If I did PB, I don't understand. I ate the same thing that I ate yesterday for breakfast. What could have caused it? Oh well...I certainly hope it was a PB and it's all over. I absolutely HATE this. Also...I have read where some folks PB at a table at a restaurant. I can tell you one thing...there is no way in this world that I would EVER do that in public, if I could help it at all. Let me ask this...with a PB, can you hold it back? Like...if you feel it coming, can you delay it? I felt that I could delay this a bit until I got into the bathroom and everyone cleared out of there. Sorry for so many questions...this is new to me. Thanks!

    I have a collar bone

Thanks guys...I appreciate all the kind words. I've been slacking on my diet and exercise the last two weeks because I have been sick. I need to jump on that treadmill and get things back on track. I want to get to a 100 pound loss before my one year bandiversary. I know I can do it. I only have 13 pounds to go and I have two and a half months to do it. However...I would LOVE to get there by my sons birthday (3/18). Wish me luck!!! Good luck to all of you too.

    Biggest Loser

I love the Biggest Loser. I have watched every season of it. I have to agree with everyone...those contestants looked really big and I expected the scales to show more than they did. Now...I know that the camera adds 10-15 pounds, but come on...I guess it was a wake up call to me. Does everyone remember the twins from last season? Well...I have to say, I met them and they are wonderful...very easy to talk to and very nice. Here's a picture of us...

Why no caffeine and no carbonation

I stop every morning on the way to work and buy a cup of coffee. I have no problem with it and look forward to it every day. The doctor hasn't said that I had to stop and the weight is still coming off. So...I will continue with my coffee everyday. As for soda...I haven't had soda in about a year. I can't say that I miss it either...you'll get used to it. I stick to Crystal Light and water now.

Who Has Lost Over 100 Pounds?!?!

13 more to go and you can add me. I can't wait!!!!
  25. OK...here goes nothing. The first two were taken just prior to surgery. The third was taken about five weeks ago (sorry I forgot to take a current side shot).
