Hi, Spiffy. Yes...I went through the same thing. I think that many of us do. It really didn't matter what I did...it was coming out. It eventually stopped after about a month to a month and a half. My hair has always been thin and I was freaking out. I used a product by Nioxin called Hair Thickening Gel. It gave my hair the appearance of being thicker so it made me feel better. Don't worry...it will eventually stop.

Same problem here. Prior to lap band...I was a once a day gal...in fact, my doctor thought that I had IBS because I was going all the time. Now...I'm LUCKY if I go once a week. I was told to increase my fiber, but that hasn't really helped either. I used to have back pains from it, but those have decreased. I guess this is my new way of going...from once a day to once a week. I'm glad to hear that I'm not the only one.

Before and After Lap Band Surgery - PICTURES ONLY
mumof2boys replied to DeLarla's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
OK...came across some other "before" pictures that I thought that I would share, along with some very new pictures (taken last week in Vegas). What do you think? -
Hi Busy...you're not too far from me. I'm in Waldorf. I had a lot to do to be approved for the surgery myself. I had to have six months of a supervised medical weight loss program as well as psych eval and EKG. Believe me...it's worth the weight and the hard work. I love my band. Welcome to the board and good luck with everything. Keep in touch!

OK...here we go. The first picture was taken outside of the Wynn casino in 2006. The second picture was taken at the same place a couple of days ago. Can you see a difference?

Hey everyone...I'm back. I won a little...lost a lot in Vegas. I had a blast though. I must have changed clothes three times a day because I was just loving the way that I looked. My mother went with me and she was cracking up because I was constantly asking..."Mom...take my picture over here..." I will post one or two once I resize them. I'm going in this morning for a fill and I'm not happy to report that I gained a few pounds while in Vegas. Of course, drinking all of those wonderful alcoholic beverages didn't help. Oh well...back on track today.

Introducing myself...
mumof2boys replied to srknepler's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Welcome, Sherri. I wish you the best of luck with the insurance company and with the lap band. I must say it's the best thing that has happened to me in a long time. It sounds like you are definitely ready to make this change in your life. As long as you understand that it's not a magic surgery and that you have to work at it...you will do great. Best of luck to you...I'll keep my fingers crossed for you. -

LJM: Your pics are absolutely AMAZING!!! What a huge difference. Sounds like you are doing well, considering. You truly are an inspiration for your great weight loss and for having this surgery!!! Keep up the great work. -
Congratulations. I was just like you...I thought that it was quite painful. I read on here that it wasn't much for others, but I guess I'm a big baby. I'm sending vibes to you for a speedy recovery!!! Good luck throughout your journey.

Birth Control Before Surgery
mumof2boys replied to Angelyco's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I take the Seasonale pill (the one where you only have a period every three months) and I didn't have to stop taking it. I had read about it on these boards and asked and he said no. I think all surgeons are different. Good luck with your surgery! -
I like Roger too but I don't think that he played professional football (I could be wrong). I thought that he and Trent played in college together. I also don't think that he's hurting for money...did you see his house when he went home for that week long challenge? Very big and very nice. I am pulling for either Roger or Maggi.

Outpatient turned Inpatient
mumof2boys replied to cantweight2go's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I stayed overnight. I think that it's routine for my doctor to have his patients stay overnight. My surgery was at 1:00 pm and I left the next day around 2:30. I was happy to stay. Congratulations on getting banded and good luck with your journey. -
While I'm sure that some can tolerate those foods listed, they are probably not the best choice of foods. Now...with that being said, I will nibble on spaghetti sometimes and have an occassional piece of pizza, but I usually can't eat an entire piece because it gets pretty uncomfortable. The foods that I stay away from because I can't really tolerate them are: Bread Scrambled eggs Rice

Woo Hoo...that's great!!!

That's awesome. I had a similiar experience...I ran into an old co-worker and they called me "tiny". It did feel very weird, especially since I'm no where near tiny.

Thanks...you will...if you have made up your mind that you are ready to change your life, then you will do it. I cannot lie...I have had those moments where I don't exercise and I eat things that I certainly shouldn't...we all do it. When that happens, get yourself together, and jump back on-board. Good luck!!!!

losingjusme goes for plastics
mumof2boys replied to losingjusme's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Oh my goodness...I'm so excited for you. I will be reaching out for some consultations soon. The thought of actually going to get all of this taken off is exciting and scarey. Best of luck to you. I cannot wait to hear how everything goes. Woo Hoo... -
It all depends on how well you work with your band. I just had my very first PB on 2/14/08. I was banded 4/30/07. So...although I absolutely hated the experience, I think that I did very good being almost 10 months out and having my first one. I hope to avoid any more. Good luck to you.

I need your opinions....get in here! :)

Wooooo...hold on...be very careful. The things that you are eating are not only BAD for you nutritionally, but not good for the surgery that you just went through. I think that you are having a hard time with "head hunger" right now. You have in your head that you just had surgery and can't eat certain foods and can't or shouldn't eat a lot, so you feel a need to eat what you want when you want. You really should be sticking to what your doctor says. Following my surgery, I was so afraid of hurting my pouch and messing things up, I wouldn't dare put anything in my mouth that I wasn't suppose to. You have made up your mind that you are ready to begin this journey with the band...try your very best to stick with the rules so it will work for you. I wish you very good luck with everything. -
WOW...you have 50 staples from lapband surgery? That sounds like an aweful lot to me. I had stitches that disolved and that was only on the port scar. However, I did have staples with my two prior c-sections and I have to be completely honest and tell you that it did hurt me. The object that they use to remove them reminded me of a staple remover from my desk at work. They basically work the same way as the ones that take staples out of paper. They grip the staple and pull it out. In fact, while I was getting them out one time before, the staple flew across the room (it was kind of funny). It didn't last long, so it's not that bad, but when they were being pulled out, it did hurt. Good luck to you...you'll be alright!
