Congratulations on the NSV Whippledaddy. You are doing great.

I like your husbands sense of humor. I'll take my "band" over a diamond band any day of the week. Besides, we are all going to look soooooo sexy with our new bods, that no one would give a second look at the diamond ring.

Okay today I weighed 190. I am going to do my best not to weigh myself again until next Monday. I have a dr appt tonight and his scale always differs from mine. I'm going by mine though.

Thanks for posting this Darcy. I felt like you were talking about me. I obsessed so much about getting under 200, now I am obsessing about getting into the 180's. I keep fluctuating between 190 and 191.5. My problem is that I am so busy weighing myself everytime I pee, that I am not enjoying where I am at in my weight loss. Thanks for the wake up call. Now, can you get me to stop weighing myself everytime I go potty?

Congratulations on such a great accomplishment. That is something to be very proud of.

I can't feel my band at all, only my port.

Welcome Angela. You have definitely come to the right place. This is an awesome group of "losers". Great job on your weight loss. That's just the beginning. -
Hi Lisa, My brother and his daughter had the gastric bypass 1-1/2 years ago. I don't find any offensive odors when I'm around them. I'm still praying that the doctors are wrong and you will get to keep your band. I think you are doing the right thing by checking out all your options though.

Hot dogs are definitely a no no for me. Tried it once, won't do it again. It brought tears to my eyes.........not worth it.

Band Rejection - Answer to Port Problems
molynn replied to DeLarla's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Lisa, I am so sorry you did not get the answer you were hoping for with your wound infection, but at least you got an answer. If anyone can prove this doctor wrong, you can. You have a great outlook on this entire situation. You are in my thought and prayers. I hope you get to keep this band as long as possible and get closer to your goal weight. You are truly an inspiration to all of us. You know we are all here for you. -
Congratulations on your new band! This is an awesome group of people. A lot of knowledge and a lot of laughs. Good luck!

I have United Healthcare. They said they never received the paperwork from my doctor, so I had the doctor fax the info up. It then took about 48 hours to get approval. I got verbal approval over the phone and my doctor got the letter a few days later. Good luck!

Congratulations Tammy. I am so excited for so. Before you know it, you'll be banded.

Cool pics Kyleigh! You look great. You should be proud...you are doing an awsome job.

What a nice surprise Betty!

You look great. I've never been on a cruise, but I don't know anyone who has taken a cruise and not gained weight. I guess they are floating buffets. Good luck in 2005!!!!

Glad the scale moved for you Leatha. It gets very frustrating when it just doesn't move. Your pictures are beautiful. You look fabulous. Before you know it you'll be in the 170's!!!!!

Never had a problem with my band or port, my knee replacement sets off the machines every time. My family doesn't even want to go through security with me. I have the card from my MD about my joint replacement, but the TSA isn't interested in looking at it. Oh well..........

I wear an underwire that minimizes. Does anyone have a problem with the wire jabbing you under your arms? Pointed or rounded?????? I can't wait to hear what Jack's response will be. I like the rounded look better for myself. I once tried on a bra that was so pointy it reminded me of the Austin Powers movie where the girls (robots) had the bras that turned into machine guns. (lol...that movie just makes me laugh). Even the outlet stores like Bali and Playtex will measure you for the correct fit if you want.

Don't let doctors treat you like that. In 2002 I was hospitalized for almost ten days because of pain in the left side of my pelvic area. My surgeon did every test on me including having two biopsies done (first one they didn't get enough tissue) on some sort of a cyst or mass (they were not sure). He calls in my gynecologist (who I have since gotten rid of) who writes a report that I am a morbidly obese person who he considers to be a chronic complainer of abdominal pain. He feels the mass is a simple cyst and requires no further treatment. Two weeks later I am in the emergency room with a very high white blood cell count. I don't ask for my surgeon since I don't want to bother anyone, so the ER doctor does a CAT scan and they tell me that I have a very enlarged ovary. I then tell him that I had a total hysterectomy 10 years ago and have NO OVARIES. Shocked, he leaves the room and comes back to tell me that we need to call in a surgeon. My surgeon and a new gynecologist (who is wonderful) tell me that there is a good chance that I have ovarian cancer and the mass needs to be removed. I never knew that even though I have no uterus or ovaries, I can still get cancer there. That shocked the heck out of me. I had my surgery, thank God I did not have cancer, but after everything was done I asked my old gyno for my records and he sent them along with a letter stating that HE KNEW I did not have cancer and that is what he refused to operate on me. My surgeon could not believe he would put that in writing and called him a f'n moron. Bottom line is we know our bodies better than anyone. Don't let an M.D. tell you there is nothing wrong and take an easy out. In a lot of cases I think M.D. stand for "Missed Diagnosis". I hope you find a doctor that can help you.

I should have asked sooner...
molynn replied to GeezerSue's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
That is great that they approved you on the first request. I spoke to my band surgeon this week about getting breat reduction surgery. I lost 8 inches since my surgery but nothing in my cup size. I'm tired of having my cups runneth over. He told me that I need to wait at least another year until I hit my 2 year band anniversary. He thought they would reduce in size on their own. He did tell me that I would definitely need a tummy tuck, He used some medical terms, but basically because I had four pregnancies and have been overweight my entire adult life that the skin will not go back. Had any one had insurance pay for their tummy tucks? I might have to pay out of pocket to the plastic surgeon. -
I only had to see the nutritionist once and the psychologist once. Because of my high blood pressure and heart murmur, I had to see other docs also. My insurance doesn't require referrals,so I actually made some of my appointments in advance to save time. I called the insurance on a pretty regular basis for two weeks after everything was sent to them. First they told me they didn't have the papers from my surgeon, then they were faxed again. My insurance is usually pretty good about approving surgery, but I still had to keep on top of them.
