My first major goal was to weigh less than 200 lbs. I have lost 59lbs in almost three months but am stuck in the 200's! I haven't lost any weight for two weeks!

Hiccups is caused from eating too much or too much too quickly. You can also get a runny nose or sneeze. It is because it pushes on a nerve.

Scared of losing hair............
patter5r replied to Memily's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am 2 1/2 months out. I have started losing small amounts. I have taken 10,000 mg of Biotin since a month before my surgery. Losing my hair was my biggest fear with this surgery. I am hoping that it doesn't get worse. -
OCTOBER SLEEVERS- How Ya Doin'?
patter5r replied to TxCalico's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I was sleeved October 2. Starting weight 260. Current weight 214. I've noticed that the more I exercise the less I lose. It's frustrating! -
I am currently 7 weeks out and down 43 lbs. I have started to really push my workouts the last week. I have started a 5k training program. Every since I have started exercising, I haven't lost any more weight. It's frustrating. At what point did you start to slow down with weight loss??

I am 6 weeks today. I have been stalled for about a week now. I did start running using the app couch to 5k. Today was my second day. I made it through it!!! 6 weeks: 40lbs down. I have long way to go!

I went back to my follow up appointment with my surgeon last week. He said that after a lot of research he encouraged me to drink with my meals!!

Is it ketosis?? If I don't get enough calories, my breath gets bad.

Well for starters, I haven't had any issues with eating food, but water is hard. I have a hard time hitting my goal of 64oz a day. He told me that after his research, he has taken the restriction out of his book. He said that the water pushes the food into the intestines and that is the secret. I have noticed a huge difference. I actually feel full longer. It has taken away the hunger that I was feeling in between. Not drinking didn't really bother me but I am all for it. Since drinking with my meals, I have met my fluid target. Just thought I'd share.

3 weeks out and cant get protein in
patter5r replied to Kelsnikol's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am in the same boat as you. I am almost 4 weeks out. I am not able to eat enough of anything to get my protein in. I make all the above mentioned choices but if you can only eat a few bites, it does no good. I was doing the protein drinks at first, but now, they make me so sick. I am at 30-40 grams of protein a day with food. I'm afraid of losing my hair. -
It's more than likely acid. Are you on any acid reducers or heartburn meds?

Changing food stages
patter5r replied to Acidatti2d's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doctor moved me to puréed at a week out. -
Just curious how much protein everyone is getting and how you are hitting those targets? I am 3.5 weeks out and on soft foods. I used to drink protein drinks at the end of the day to catch up, but they make me so sick now.

How much protein are you getting?
patter5r replied to patter5r's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I haven't had any issues with eating. I have been able to eat pretty much anything I've tried. My problem is I can only eat a portion of it. My doctor wants me to only eat 3 meals per day. It is hard to get my protein in with only that. -
I had diarrhea for the first 3 weeks. Liquid in, liquid out!
-
I was on clear liquids the first 3 days then I moved to full liquids until day 8. At day 8 I moved to puréed foods.

Try getting a protein powder and mixing it with milk. I do a scoop with 4oz of skim milk. That's about all I can hold. As far as the foam goes, maybe it's from over eating. I'm on soft foods and I have trouble with chicken. Last time I ate it, I threw up ( first time ever) and it was white foam.

I was not able to eat an entire thing of yogurt. My doctor had me switch to 3 meals no snacks. Now I'm able to get an entire one in.

2 weeks post op and issues with real food
patter5r replied to aunnyq@gmail.com's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am also two weeks out. I experienced this once I moved to full liquids. I just moved to soft foods and it has gotten a little better. I have found that my protein drinks send me to the bathroom. -
I am able to eat ground beef and chicken. Anything that is soft is fine in this stage.
-
I talked with my doctor about this. I had trouble getting protein and calories because I can only hold small amounts. She said to aim for 350 calories and 20 grams of protein at each meal. (This is difficult but I'm trying) Eat until you feel full. Three meals, no snacks and then supplement with protein shakes at the end of the day to hit your targets. I am not able to drink a lot of the protein shake so I buy the Body Fortress Protein Powder ( it's 30 grams each scoop) and mix it with 1/2 a cup of skim milk. This has been getting me to my targets.

When can I eat peanut butter?? It's not in my food guide. I'm on soft foods.
