I wasn't really that nervous before getting the band. Maybe just a little nervous... but I do remember that shot LOL Did you get the revision to RNY? -

Yeah, it sure is scary going from the band to RNY. That is all that is on my mind and i'm not even sure yet if I'm going to do it all together and maybe just have them take the band out. I keep going back and forth in my head... am I ready for this? I was so gung ho before I got the band.. now, i'm that the surgery is scheduled and I pushed to get it... i'm like can I handle this mentally? Like i'm just not 100% positive.... it's hour by hour for me... LOL -
7 Days remaining until the big day...so nervous. What did you guys do to calm down?

Good luck y'all...i'm a month out and i'm nervous as all get out. lol -
Ok, Which is better on coverage? Basic or Standard? I have basic right now. When I had my band in Jan 2010, basic was the way to go. I only paid 100 co-pay surgeon and 100 co-pay to the hospital...very easy process and approval. I wasn't even required to do the psych eval or 6 month diet plan.. I was approved and had the surgery in two weeks after approval. I saw the doctor initially a month before surgery. Right now, I may be able to get my band removed and possibly get a revision surgery done to the sleeve... due to slippage and doctor not being able to access the port. Are the lap band to sleeve insurance requirements the same and pretty easy? I just don't want to have to go through all the hoopla with the diet for 3 or 6 months and the psyhc eval. I want it done ASAP if i'm having complications. From my experience in the past before my lap band, a lot of weight loss "clinics" I called inquiring about the insurance and the surgery..and they all still required the pre stuff, even though a studied my insurance and knew that I didn't. I tried to tell them, that I had federal insurance and not regular blue cross blue shield insurance and it wasn't required for me to do all the pre surgery stuff to get approved. I finally found a doctor in Dallas that the insurance lady was very hip and knew that I didn't have to go through the requirements and had my surgery fast. I'm hoping it is the same time around this time.....any input would be greatly appreciated and thanks in advance!

Surgery scheduled but nervous
band2RNY replied to pumpkin73's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Thanks. He said by the looks of the barium swallow xrays and since that i'm not having any symptoms of a slippage that it is a good sign that I will be able to have both at the same time. But, that doing both has more risks...... I was so gung ho with getting the band.... but with doing this i'm not feeling so excited and unsure if I can go through all that. Surely i'm not the only one feeling like this? lol -
Surgery scheduled but nervous
band2RNY replied to pumpkin73's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I really worried about doing the band removal and the gastric at the same time. My surgeon said that if there is a lot of scar tissue from the band he would have to wait on the other surgery. Has anyone had both at the same time? Was it really hard to do? How was recovery? -
BCBS Federal in Texas (Basic or Standard better?) Lap Band to Sleeve Revision
band2RNY replied to band2RNY's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
wonder why some hospitals charge 30% and some don't? -
awesome! Thanks! Im going with the RNY surgery instead of sleeve ive decided.
-
That's the worst part about the band. I've heard the same thing from friends that have RNY..... it still gets stuck. I'm just going to weigh out my food and stick to that. lol

band2RNY replied to pumpkin73's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Good luck ya'll... Mine is scheduled for Nov 5. I'm so scared because I had such bad experience with the band. -
Good luck! I am going to change to RNY... I just think that is going to be a sure shot that I need.

Lap Band to RNY Revision
band2RNY replied to JustFluffy's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
I'm going from band to RNY and my surgery is scheduled Nov 5. I told my surgeon on Friday I wanted to get the sleeve. He told me to go home and research sleeve and RNY and if I decide to change just to let him know. I've been looking for people on here that had the band to RNY. Not much info out there. -
Nov 5th here scheduled for the sleeve, but i'm going to change to RNY. And, probably change the surgery day to a Monday if I can. I'm going from band to RNY.... band just sucks.

I've done liquids for a month...the first few days are rough but after that it's pretty easy, at least for me it was. Just think of the end results and it really is all in your mind. I did have to take something to knock me out at night to sleep. lol The Protein shakes I took 5 per day were Optifast, and they were pretty good. I've tried other brands and they are nasty. I don't think Ganta's office sells them, so i'm going to have to find some. I've seen them on amazon.com and will prob do that. They are expensive though Let me know when you find out on the pre-op diet. I've never heard of one involving food.... do you have any idea what that is? I would prob stick to liquids also...

I haven't read one bad thing about him. I like the feeling that I can ask him anything and he tells you all angles and explains everything very well and is very thorough. I may go with RNY...still debating. For now I told him schedule the sleeve.
-
Yep, they really are. Do you know what type of pre-op diet he wants you to do? I guess i'll hear about all that on the 25th of October. I'm guessing liquids for two weeks. It's better than the month I had to do before the band surgery.

November 5th for me..just scheduled today with Dr. Ganta in the ATX. Band to sleeve revision. Still waiting on insurance approval but it should be pretty easy as my insurance rocks and the band slipped.
