WOW! I leave for a few days and look what happens. :clap2: Welcome to all new June bandsters. How excited are you all that in a month or less they'll be a new you?!?!?! :welcome: Heather, thanks so much for the calendar. It makes tracking our dates so much easier. I can not tell you how excited I am for those who will be banded this coming week. And I just KNOW you all are even more excited. :whoo: May I make a suggestion? (If it's already been posted, sorry.) Take your measurements before surgery. Some of you are already in the "liquid weeks" so you might want to take them now. I'm having mine done as I also want to see how many inches I've lost.

Toni, I went to Costco last week and picked up a few cases of the protein drinks, a case of the organic chicken broth, a case of cream of chicken soup, and a large box of lemonade mix. I'll go back mid June and get more stuff. I'll probably pick up some easy to make meals for hubby while I'm on the liquid and puree phase. I'm getting excited for you all who are so close to your date!

Hey all, so happy to hear so many of you are going for your pre-op appointments. (also a bit jealous LOL) It's getting so close for you. I only have a few more appointments til I can make my pre-op one. On the many differences of appointments, yes it is up to the doctor. For me I think my age, my family medical history and my own medical history is part of the reason I need all these pre-tests done. Welcome new June banders.

Hey Junies! A big Welcome to the newbies. I've been "kinda" good these past few days. I did good at the wedding on Saturday. Ate healthy but did have 2 rum/diet pepsi. That's the first soda I've had all week. And that's good for me as I can normally drink a liter a day! Number 2 (out of 3) Life Skills class done tonight. And tomorrow night is my sleep study. For the record can I say how much I'm NOT looking forward to that? Janine, an endoscopy is when they take a look at your stomach via your mouth/throat. I have a lot of heartburn or GERD and the doctor wanted to make sure I didn't have an ulcer. (I don't so I'm clear with that.) Is a heart rythem like palpatations? If so then yes, I've had them but I have already been cleared by the heart doctor. Can you talk to your doctor(s) and ask if this might be a problem and could it possibly delay your surgery? It's worth a try, right? Lisa, my doctor only requires a 48 hour clear liquid diet before surgery. Then another 48 hour clear liquid diet after surgery. And I agree; there doesn't seem to be a standard guide line for the lap-band. Must get to bed, the alarm goes off mightly early in the morning. Thank care all, Marie

Accountablity, hell yes I need that! Will start on that Monday. I have a wedding to go to this afternoon. The only pre-diet my surgeon has is a clear liquid, unsweetened diet 48 hours before surgery. I guess I can handle that. But will start restricting my calories and carbs starting next week. The post diet is hard! All liquids for 4 weeks. Eek. I went to costco yesterday and picked up some stuff. Will need more though. Have a great weekend.

:clap2: I'm also excited with this banding process. Hoping the next couple of weeks go fast and uneventfull. When I first told my hubby I was thinking about this I was really suprised to find him supporting me so readily. However, he knows what I've gone through with trying to lose the weight. My daughter also is supporting me. In fact I only found one person who is/was against it. But the wheels have been set in motion and I'm going for it. I have put too much time into all these appointments. :omg: First was the seminar then the appointment with the surgeon. Done Needed clearance from a cardiologist. After an echo stress test, EKG and a ultra sound of my cartoid arteries I got that clearance. Done Needed clearance from a pulmonologist. Going for sleep study, chest x-ray and a pulmonary function test next week. Final clearance from this doc should be 5/31. Needed an eval from the nutritionist and psychologist. Done Needed an endoscopy. Done Now I'm attending 3 classes of 2 hours each with more nutrition info along with exercises. These classes finish up on 5/21. Also will be getting my blood work done by 5/21. Final medical clearance is from the endocrinologist on 6/4. (He has to evaluate all the above test results.) My final appointment is with the surgeon about mid June. Surgery is 6/27. YAY The bummer of it all is I don't yet have the approval of my insurance company!!! Well, it's getting done, one way or another.

Another June bandster here. June 27, 2007 47 days But who's counting? ME!!!!! So happy to have found this thread. I need more time to read through it but wanted to say HI!
  10. I’ve kinda been lurking off and on for a few weeks while I get all my ducks in row. Now that I finally have my surgery date I’d like to introduce myself. (Don’t ask why I waited, I don’t know.) I’m Marie in Wilmington, Delaware. I’ll be banded by Dr Peters on June 27 th. And I can hardly wait! Has anyone else been banded by Dr Peters? I’m amazed at all the pre-tests and procedures he has me doing. I’ve done 7 appointments so far and have another 4 before the pre-op appointment with Dr Peters 2 weeks before surgery. Oh, and that’s not counting the blood work and chest x-ray. Well, at least I’ll know the state of my body before banding and will have more than just weight loss as a way to measure my success. Right? And I THINK my insurance is paying at least 70% of this. That I can handle. I look forward to getting to know you all.
