    November Sleevers

Nov 2 for me. I am doing a lot of reading, watching Blossom Bariatric's Mind Prep videos (even if you aren't having surgery done there you can get access.) there are a number of videos on You Tube sharing "what I wish I'd known" tips. On a low carb diet, walking more, and start liquids on 10/19. I guess I did my last supper the day I visited Dr Ortiz office about ten days ago. Self pay in Mexico, BMI just over 35, insurance required 90 day supervised diet but would disqualify me if I lost more than a couple of pounds. If I gained, the 90 days would start over. Too much of a tightrope for me.
  2. November 2, gastric sleeve. with Dr. Ariel Ortiz. Met with Dr. Ortiz, Dr. Martinez, and nutritionist when visiting San Diego last week. Also toured clinic and spoke with several people waiting for surgery the next day. My husband and I were satisfied that this is a good choice. Traveling from Phoenix, AZ. Hubby is going but would be happy to meet some people online that I could connect with during surgery week!
  3. I'm contemplating gastric sleeve at the age of 60. Would love to hear the experience of some of you who did this at more mature age. Did your age affect your recovery or success in achieving goal weight? Thanks!
  4. I wonder if you are able to meet your protein, fluid, and supplement needs without obsessing,.craving, and logging all intake as time goes by? My hope is that I won't wake up thinking of food, be driven by my cravings and appetite, and won't feel that I have to eat what I see on TV (right now!) Has your gastric sleeve, even after the honeymoon period, allowed you to put food in it's proper perspective? Does the diet after surgery ever become...well...routine? Thanks...I am so tired of being ruled by food and wonder if this is a way to end that lifelong struggle.

    Cooking for hubby?

I am considering gastric bypass. One concern is that I'm very likely to overeat when the wrong foods are in the house. Have regained 90 pounds lost through diet since my remarriage a few years ago. My husband is.supportive, naturally slim, but loves to have goodies and starches available. How do some of you.manage to eat so differently without frustration, conflict, or failure to lose and maintain that loss? This scares me...meals have been my responsibility since he works full time. Thanks for any advice on this!

    Cooking for hubby?

Thanks for your responses, ladies. Sounds like you are working it out and that gives me hope. I guess my hope is that gbp will get me to a place where food is just less of an issue...I won't wake up and go to sleep with food on my mind...won't be ruled by my appetite...won't feel like I need to eat what's on TV... Does the routine of fluids, Protein, and supplements ever become automatic and easy, or is it always on your mind? Sure appreciate your insights!
