This is the way I got out of bed also...this was the only way without hurting too much. -
Just had my surgery yesterday (sept 30)

Congratulations!! I was banded 2 weeks today and I can honestly tell you that by day 4 I was feeling good. But day 6, I was feeling great!! I went back to work--light duty (I am a private nurse) but was really tired after a 4 hour shift. It is different for everyone...but except for getting used to my new port (which is right above my belly button and is where I lean and the steering wheel hits) I feel as good as it did before surgery!! -
Cancelation nightmare
tlbutler replied to tlbutler's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I called and they are waiting to hear back from the surgeon. In the meantime, I am scheduled to see the surgeon and rescheduled to see the dietician both on Friday. I guess another few more days of liquids...bummer. -
Omg, so today was the day that I meet with the dietician so that my diet could be advanced to the mushy level and the hospital just called and cancelled my appointment because the dietician is sick. Are you seriously kidding?? Omg, I have been looking forward to this day. Ugh...!!!!

When is your surgery? -
I agree with both of my fellow banders... At night though, do not lie down flat keep your head raised up on pillows about 45• and that will help keep the contents of your belly from " backing up". Good luck, feel better, take small sips to stay hydrated and keep up posted.

I can almost understand. I started this journey this past July 21st and banded September 17th. I was very ready for my life to change...I jumped into this new life and I am very focused on what's ahead. Unfortunately my brother and sister in law (my partners in my eating crime) no longer want to "hang" out together. My sister in law stated that she was upset with me and hasn't spoken to me since mid August. I hope to find our way again and won't give up on our friendship since we are family. But I still remain focused!!

Food porn omg LOL!!!

I am 10 days out and all I can say is hang in there...it will get better. I also found out that I am allergic to the bandages and steri strips...doctor has put me on benedryl and a topical ointment.
-
Day 3 was tough...I only drank sips of my protein drinks and got in sips of water. But I kept taking short walks to move the gas around and did some yoga breathing to strengthen my lungs. I sat outside and took in some fresh air and sunshine. Naps helped too. Each day it got better.... Trust me it will!!

So come to find out I have an allergy to the steri-strips that were used to close the laparoscope holes on my belly. Who would have guessed?? Good news though, I have lost 8 lbs since surgery!! ???¹

I started the diet that the dietician gave me July 21st and as of September 23rd I weighed 31 pounds less. With every individual weight loss will be different...there is not one body type that is the same. I am very short so my BMI is high...I have high blood pressure and high blood sugar. So changing my diet of steady carbs and sugar to no carbs and no sugar I lost weight really quickly. So it really is an individual journey.

I am heading back to see the surgeon again today...I am miserable. I looked like I got beat by a bat and I am so itchy. Other than that though, I feel amazing!!!!

Good luck Carrie!!! -
Funny how each surgeon is different. I am 10 days post op and still on full liquids. I don't start mushies until next week.

Medications: to crush or not to crush??
tlbutler replied to SarahRN482's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doctor has me crushing my meds...I put them in crystal light. But my pills are small and easy to take. they changed them after the surgery because some of my meds were time released or coated for easy swallowing both of which can't be crushed. Definitely ask the pharmacist like suggested as they are a wealth of information and can give you great information. -
Thanks everyone!! I have raised blisters where the bandages and steri strips were. I am so itchy it is almost driving me insane. The surgeon removed all of the steri strips as I am 9 days post op and gave me a topical ointment but omg!!!

7 days post-op and HUNGRY!
tlbutler replied to ameyer30's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Banded 7 days ago also...it hasn't been that bad because I am really focused on the finish line. I want to be 200 pounds by Christmas so that I can fly without an extended belt. Fingers crossed... -
Small victory.....
tlbutler replied to awalden2829's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congratulations!!! I am 24 pounds heavier than my boyfriend....so I totally get it. But I am catching up!!! -
I was discharged Wednesday from the hospital on a stage 3 diet. Yesterday I tried some LF creamy tomato soup and omg, it was like thanksgiving!! This morning was very smooth yogurt. Is stage 3 diet different for each doctor or do most banders get discharged on a stage 2 diet (which was for me protein drinks and water)?

I am a private nurse and take full care of a handicapped adult and I have taken 1 week off. I was banded Tuesday and will go back to work next Wednesday. But the doctor has made it clear that I am not to lift more than 10 pounds and to remember to take in the proper fluids. It just depends on the person and the job.
