8 days post op how do I know if eating too much? ?
Sleeve Goddess replied to blueyed75's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
you food should be limited to 2-4oz. If you eat to much at one time you will start to feel uncomfortable. When i over eat i get what has been called the slimy. your mouth is extremely watery. you have a persistent cough/hacking feeling thay may be followed by vomiting. the only thing that brings me relief after overeating is vomiting. I have suffered for up yo 4hours waiting for my stomach to calm down. the only thing that works is vomiting. -
I had surgery 5/8/13 and have had problems. I have tried just about everything and the only thing that works is Cascara Sagrada. Dr suggested Colace which did nothing much like Correctol, Milk of Magnesia (nauseating).

My weight lose has been slow and steady which work to my advantage. when folks started noticing i would just say i change my eating habits and work out a little in the gym. the key give away is the exseccesively baggy close. WHen they start not to fit you got to get rid of them as this draws more attention to the sitution -
I need advice please from the vets
Sleeve Goddess replied to Tiki's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
One of my best friends had a gastric bypass about four years ago and did not have any long term success. She was the last person that I told about my desire to have the surgery as I knew she had a negative experience. I have done really well and have lost weight at a steady slow pace. She and I recently spent the weekend together and she shared that she needs knee replacement surgery. But the doctor would do it until she loses 40lbs. I was flabbergasted as I had struggled for years and was never able to lose more than 10 or 15 lbs on my own. I told her that success is 50% mental and 50% what you eat. Mentally she was not ready for the surgery and food is her companion. Although she eats small meals the quality of what she eats is not good. She admitted that she is addicted to candy and can't stop eating it. When we are with others she is always telling me what I cant eat which I find crazy. All in all you will get out of the sleeve what you put into. Ive had my ups and downs but would do it all over in a heartbeat. -

CLOTHES, CLOTHES, CLOTHES
Sleeve Goddess replied to pjackson0523's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Have struggled with wight for a while i have a range of things that could help me as a transition to lower weight. I have a lot o dress and most still work after the significant weight loss. The problem is with the suits and jackets, they swallow me whole and bring more attention to my weight loss. I have purchased some new work pants in a size 8. They are a little snug intiially but now they fit fine. I do have some nice suit in size 12 that I will have to part with. I was trying to save them as they are my favorite suits. -

EPIC FAIL ON THE PRE-OP DIET!
Sleeve Goddess replied to READY4CHANGE2013's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I joined this site a few months ago and often become turned off by the negative discouraging comments made by other. I agree we should be following the dr order as given but if someone falls off the diet berating them doesn't help. Pre and post sleeve is constant work and can be achieved dispute the progress. Some of us progress slower than others which is fine. Just remember to be honest with your team about you eating habits. Mentally I thought I was ready for the surgery as I did the preop and everything to the letter. Although I was told what eating would be like after surgery my mind was not ready. In short you can still be successful with a sub par pre op, the real work begins after you are sleeved. Afterward many things change including your sense of taste, smell and more. You will crave the things that you once loved but they won't taste the same nor be accepted in your body the same. Preop is about shrinking your liver so talk t your to and get there opinion first. -

Not Weight Goal #1 Accomplished (pics included)
Sleeve Goddess posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I purchased a pair of hot pink pants size 30 (Juniorish) back in April when I made the mental decision about the sleeve. Since my surgery May 8 I tried them on here and there but not too often. When I first tried them on I could get them past my knees and hung them on the doorway into my closet. There were days I though about returning them as they cost $39.99. I sometimes felt stupid by wasting the money and letting them just hang around. I probably tried them on at least 10 times and sometimes I noticed progress and sometimes I didn't until this morning. I had a tummy tuck over eight years ago and it been holding tight even when i gain weight. Now that I am loosing I just ned to work on tightening the love handles. These pants ride a little low and I am not a fan of butt crack. -

The one thing I always remember is "skin i the largest organ". I suggest you moisturize, moisturize and moisturize some more. This was my biggest concern prior to surgery especially with my thigh being so big but thankfully I don't have excess sagging. I really believe its because I moisturize from head to toe with a "Sweet Almond Oil" once a day. Some times I do it twice a day. I use the almond oil because I like the way it makes my skin feels. Hubby even commented that he didn't remember be ever feeling so soft. Now he touches me all the time.

Crab cake, shrimp and fish recipes

Faidley Seafood was featured on the Travel's Channel Best Sandwich in America Crab Cakes 1 lb large lump crabmeat, picked over 1 cup crushed saltine 1/2 cup mayonnaise 1 egg 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard (Dry Mustard provide better flavor) 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce 1 dash Tabasco sauce vegetable oil (for frying) (optional) clarified butter (optional) or olive oil, for sauteing (optional) 1/2 tablespoon Obay Seasoning Directions: 1. Crab cakes: Spread the crab meat out in a flat pan and sprinkle the crushed saltines over the top. 2. In a small bowl, mix mayonnaise, egg, mustard, Worcestershire, obay and tobasco. 3. Pour the mayonnaise over the crab meat and gently toss or fold the ingredients together, taking care not to break up the lumps of crab meat. 4. Let the mixture sit for 2-3 minute. 5. Before forming the cakes. 6. Form the cakes by hand or with an ice cream scoop into 8 mounds about 3" in diameter and 3/4" thick. 7. Do NOT pack the mixture too firmly. 8. The cakes should be as loose as possible, yet still hold their shape. 9. Place the cakes on a tray or platter lined with wax paper, cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour before cooking. 10.To broil: Slip them under a preheated broiler until nicely browned, turning to cook evenly, about 4-5 minute. 11.To sauté: Heat a small amount of clarified butter or olive oil, or a combination, in a skillet and sauté the cakes, turning several times, until golden brown, about 8 minute. Makes 4 servings. -
Nausia at 6 weeks
Sleeve Goddess replied to LIN140's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sleeved may 12th this year and still experience the occasional nausea. I've taken every drug known to man. I even tried bathing my togue in ginger. The only thing that helps with nausea is eating. If I go to long without eating I can feel the nausea coming on. I keep a protein shake handy if I'm between meals. I'm convinced that my sleeve doesn't like being empty. -
