Quitting Smoking Before & After Band
intelirish replied to JennieT311's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
i'm an a on and off smoker. for over 20yrs. i hadn't smoked for almost 11mts before the surgery and then about 3 wks ago.. life in general was well CRAZY that i relapsed.. that didn't last long i could see how much the chemicals messed with me i was retaining Water like crazy - felt like crap.. all i can say for giving up.. it's a one day at a time for the rest of your life.. least that's how it is for me. every day i wake up and decided. usually for the best.. It is most certainly the right thing to quit before surgery.. it can really mess with how you heal. and i talk from past experience . I know it's easy for other folks to say just quit.. it's a drug and an addictive one at that you just have to want something more than that smoke.... best of luck i hope you find something that works for you -
for me at 10 lbs i spent $10 on a nice sweater 20 lbs i spent $20 on a pair of shoes 30 lbs - TBD you can see the trend here though i have decided at 50lbs gone i'm flying home for a vist.. this is the weight i estimate that my butt will be airline seat friendly again i have avoid long flights because of being so uncomfortable.. perhaps now i can look forward to that 16 to 20hr journey.....

all I know Is people are crazy they can be the meanest, hurtful person ever and then some times they can surprise you.. I spent today sorting toys for toys for tot's it was a blast seeing the generosity from the community to bring a happy Christmas to kids who's family don't have much.. made me realize there are those out there that have it worse than I.. I Miss the friendship I used to have but honestly it's helped me open my eyes and see that it was never really what I thought it was.. Hope every one is doing well this holiday season

I actually tucked my shirt into my jeans in order to help keep them up.. OMG i have not done that is so many years... -
I say go for it. I actually now regret getting rid of some of the baby ones i had from my daughters. I had a wonderful little travel case that had a knife/fork and spoon all neat... now every time i eat out i'm going DARN if only.. for the most part i have reduced the frequency i eat out and when i do i just order the kids meal for me. when they argue that it's supposed to be for kids 12 and under i just look at them blankly and say your POINT IS?...

Just as with all the other posters have said the first thing would be to sit and talk with your doc's. i would also add in the one prescribing those meds to make sure the balance is right - i'm not sure if you took them before being banded but weight loss will mess with the dosage required. secondly.. 2 Stone is a GREAT weight loss that's about 28lbs and the fact that you can drop that shows you can do this. thirdly - you are not alone i was banded mid sep and while i have seen weight loss - the majority from the pre op diet i am obsessed with the scale.. when it hasn't moved or infact has gone up truly messes with my day and how i feel. i have to get past the daily weighing.. and just allow my self to do so once a week.. (working on it ) any how let us know how your doing and remember all of us here on these boards are here for the same reason and are you ears for listening when you want us.

Jamilyne i'm sorry you have to go through this especially with family who of all people are supposed to be the most supportive right? The friend i have refereed to has pretty much stooped eating lunch with me - we still see each other at work and she's all your looking so skinny.. etc etc but something has changed that can't be repaired. and i'm ok with it. i look at it as time not only to lose all that excess weight i carry physically but also that weight we carry with us emotionally. Keep on doing what your doing they will either come around with time and perhaps join you on your journey or it will become easier as time goes to see and mingle with them. congrats on your loss and choice to live life..

Just wondering how you are doing now.. this is me i lose so slow that any kind of water retention affects me on the scales.. I've seen some inches lost but that has also slowed.. my third fill is next week hoping that third time is the charm as well Bandister HELL is aptly named as i'm there right now feeling very discouraged and unhappy need to stay of the scale for a few days and just concentrate on being healthy...

Hey Bandista.. can i just say one word for your troubles.... "IPAD"... lol sorry so not a fan of apple and all the hype that company generates.. i feel like we should just chant we are Borg you will be assimilated....

Finding The Lap Band Green Zone
intelirish replied to Alex Brecher's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wow wish i'd found this topic before now. not sure how i missed it considering it's pinned I've had 2 fills now and have absolutely no restriction my third one is scheduled for next week. I can only lose weight when i follow the pre -op diet but can't maintain that for long and usually have a slight regain when i stop. the loss i saw during pre op was amazing and i have lost weight which is what helps to keep my head in the game.... but having read through the history of this post i can now repeat to myself this is normal and relax.. I am hopeful that i will find the restriction i'm looking for in the next few fills as it gets harder and harder to limit the amount of food i eat. i stay pretty much to the food plan and portion size but frequency of eating is increasing as my hunger takes over late in the day. if you have any articles on how to beat head hunger and food cravings i would love to see them. -

Yes i burb more now than i ever did before.. so much for them telling me that it would be an issue .. i say go with it.. that if any one says or looks at you just smile your biggest smile like you have a secret and your not telling... -
hey so i've had 3 fills with my 3rd scheduled for dec 3rd. 2013 I'm hoping all the 3's bring me good luck and i find the green zone. for the most part i can still eat how i want.working on smaller portions and trying to listen to when my body has had enough not what my head keeps telling me.. is so much harder than i ever thought i'm still struggling to lose weight i go up and down and it's driving me insane.. i know the band isnt' fully working yet but still get discouraged at times and question what have i done.. i'm down some where between 26 and 29 lbs depends on the day.. I should be happy..

So today i realized i have been banded now for a little over 2mts.. It feels like it has been a life time.. I keep telling myself i'm doing great.. that with time and patience the band will work for me as it does for others. I have lost weight and for the most part have kept it off.. However having had 2 fills i have yet to feel any true restriction and still can eat what i want. i just no longer eat large portions. Which i do count as a HUGE WIN for me. because my god could I eat before hand.... Every day is a struggle with hunger. it is so hard to not reach out for that second spoon full of what ever after i have already put my allotment for that meal on my plate. To not visit the vending machine to see what deliciousness is to be found..- Never had the urge before banding not sure where it has come from now wishing it would leave me now.... There have been times when i have gotten so hungry that i'm half way through before i remember i am banded and then freeze in fear that i have done something wrong. What keeps me going - The truly AMAZING wonderful people i have gotten to know through this site. The wonderful honest feedback, support and knowledge sharing the knowledge that eventually i will get the restriction i am looking for.. just have to keep the chin up and marching forward. I can do this

what actually befuddles me is... not the portion size.. i get that.. it's how on Earth am i suppose to eat that little and hit my calorie goal for the day? i don't lose weight when i keep the portion small and don't snack like i was told to.. if i eat larger.. still tiny to me size portions and hit my calorie goal i do a little better.. over all this whole journey is still a struggle for me. i don't regret it but honestly had not expected to have to work this hard at it all -

totally agree this site is crazy feel like i've lost track of way too many folks keep ready posts from the other forums by mistake... things are going ok. i've had 2 fills with my third scheduled for dec 10th was trying to think how i could squeeze 2 in before the end of the year when my insurance starts over again for the year and i'll have to start paying out of pocket again for the fills. those things are PRICEY... mind you i really have not been hungry since my fill last week. haven't really eatn anything all that solid yet so not really sure what the restriction is like. so i'm hoping i'm close to where i need to be keep it going.. love it that your pants size has dropped we are so on the right road to the new us..

Any other September 2013 bandsters?
intelirish replied to Irishflower79's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hey debbie i had the same problem i was eating the right food.. perhaps portion wise a little too much but total calories for the day averaged at 1100 which is below the 1300 which was recommended.. the scale stayed steady... so i stopped going to the gym for a few days.. and weirdly enough the scale moved downwards.. when i asked the NUT when i saw her tueday for my 2nd fill she said i most likely was not eating enough calories and that my body was holding on to everything.. working out is a new thing for me.. so perhaps you can do one of two things.. slow the work out down a little and keep the calories where they are or just increase them for a few days and see what the body tells you just remember you aren't alone every one of us will or had been through this with you.. you can and will get past this.. also make sure you are getting more than 60g of protien a day when you work out the body needs this to run well. -
