NO MOTIVATION
intelirish replied to Debra Norman Coker's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
sorry to hear about all the trouble you have had. surgery of any kind is never easy to over come and to have had 3 since your lapband - well i just hope the issues surrounding those have been resolved. as for motivation don't i just wish there was a button some where that i could just hit and wham i'd be up and ready to tackle everything.. unfortunately motivation i find is something truly personal and you are the only one that can determine what will motivate you in life.. Take a look back at where you where when you first got the bad.. something drove you then. .for me my motivation is purely the want and wish to be healthy and live a long healthy life.. looking back and seeing how many picture moments i have missed because i wouldn't have my picture taken - is something that really saddens me. - I hope you find what you need. and pray that you find it in yourself.. each and every one of us deserve to be happy and healthy.. best of luck - keep on posting there are many great folks on here that will provide you all sorts of wisdom.. -

hey every one. i had totally lost track of this tread. good to see folks are still on track.. I'm still struggling to lose it seems that i only lose right after a fill then i am up and down the same 2 lbs till the next fill. over all i am seeing a steady decrease but it is really frustrating for the 3 wks of the month. i only eat 3 meals a day. however the snaking has gotten a little out of control lately as the slow loss is really starting to get to me. . On a NSV side of things i played a few games of bowling last night.. normally it is one game and i'm out - usually my back starts to cramp about the 5th frame and by the 10th i'm barely bowling.. last night i didn't feel a thing not that my game improved any . hope you all stay healthy happy -
Wow that post read so very different from your first post.. Reading the positive in your post was great.. you are right you don't have to be a hero.. and take on everything.. especially if you are both working.. sharing the burden of taking care of families makes for healthier families also.. just know you are worth it.. no one else can do it for you..

Best of luck to you - this is the hard part.. getting through the insurance hoops is never easy.

is your desk height adjustable? if it's possible stand for part of your day - you will actually burn more calories doing this. like leepers said finding 30mins in your day may feel like a challenge but it can be so worth it.. if you can't leave your nephew home take him with you in a stroller.. the air should help him sleep and pushing that darn thing should use up a few more calories.. finding time to exercise can be hard especially when it's so much easier for find a reason not to.. but you are worth the 30mins

Hello Lap Banders!
intelirish replied to ABandCalledWanda's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Welcome this is has been once of my better choices in life both getting the band and finding this site. -
love the advise from steph2012.. cut your self some slack vacation is time for relaxing.. just choose the best food options and make sure to at least walk every day if you are truly worried about gaining.. you may just surprise your self ... and come back leaner and fitter than before you went. as i find it's easier to lose when your relaxed v's when your stressed. enjoy.. and send us all a postcard

through out life people will come and go some will make an impact on your life some won't - don't let her impact you in a negative way.. you are doing what you need to do for you. without the lap-band i don't doubt that rather than being 40lbs down at this point in my life my scale most likely would be topping 300lbs at this point as that is they way i was headed.. Keep it up and let no one change you. -
I don't have any better advise than what was given above but wanted to say hope you feel better soon I've been fighting a cough all week so it's i know it's no fun to be sick and have the added worry of will i hurt the band... let us know how your doing...

Have stopped losing weight - any tips for plateaus...
intelirish posted a topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
so the start of my journey was amazing the lbs just seemed to melt away for the first 3 months starting with my pre op diet i have managed to lose 38lbs. but lately and i mean the last 3/4 weeks i can not lose weight.. the inches don't seem to be shrinking.. i just can't get past this plateau.. i have a fill scheduled on Monday. i'm at 8cc in a 14cc band and some days i wonder if i have the band at all. other day's it's one mouthful of what ever and yup i'm reminded that i need to take it easy.. any way the reason for my post is for help and suggestions on how to push past this. i eat normally between 900 and 1400 calories a day. i work out or walk usually 2x a day 4 to 5 days a week. i'm just stumped as to why i am finding it so hard to lose weight.. -

thanks guys.. the 1400 cal thing is a once a week to try and keep my body on it's toes so to speak the usual intake is less than 1200 a day.. but on the exercise front i think that may be the issue all i do is walk perhaps it's time to try something different. though i tried running on the treadmill and with all the shaking and giggling ... i figured i need to lose a few more inches before that becomes a safe activity. -

mine too.. i am stumped on how to move past this. - though the bloated thing has got me down too i'm wondering if this is why i don't see much change on my scale.. so i'm sitting here chugging my water in an extra extreme effort to increase the water intake reduce the caloreis intake again and see what i can do -
as i do most of my post reading in the am i will report what i did for yesterday.. yesterday i Just walked.. I walked away my frustration during work, I walked away the urge to say and do something stupid I walked away and away till i felt i could take on the rest of my day..

so as i wasn't sure what to title this i thought i'd start writing first with the hope it would come to me as i typed. I've been banded 4mts now and am down almost 40lbs. when i share that number with folks they go WOW that is a LOT.. the small voice in the back of my head go YES it is.. so why is it i find that i can take no joy from my success. that when i get on the scale and see that it has hardly moved the urge to cry is almost uncontrollable. I know i need to bury the scale... but having it helps keep me accountable to myself.. it doesn't help that i scared the heck out of myself last night i got home starting and inhaled my dinner.. yes i know that's a big no no.. but any way later on the cough the pain in my stomach/port was almost unbearable and in fact i was getting up to call the doc as i was that worried when i burped.... and guess what the pain decreased almost right away.. by bed time it was almost completely gone the office confirmed this am it was just trapped gas that eating quickly will 1.. sometimes cause stuck moments or 2 can lead to too much air being ingested which will cause gas.... i'm just sure when i went from being on such a high from having the surgery and seeing the first big loss in years to this sad mopey person.. can some one just kick me? any one else feeling this? well i guess i just wanted rant for a while. typign and reading what i wrote already makes me want to shake myself

I watch it once in a while and it's usually with morbid fascination... i'm usually channel surfing and come across the show and then it's like watching a freight train wreck.. really horrible but you just can't look away. I do agree with an earlier post that shows like this just seem to take advantage of the process with a view to making money and that most of them do seem to gain their weight back - which mostly seems to be from a lack of support. that their families don't seem to be on board with truly wanting to help them. one episode that comes to mind was where the guy had lost the use of his legs and arms and his MOTHER was feeding him taco's after his WLS i truly just wanted to yell Shame on you... shows like that tend to give all WLS a bad name as they don't seem to truly highlight all the wonderful success stories many of which are right here on this board. But it's certainly a cautionary tale of where we all could end up with out any kind of intervention.

ok yesterday i did 35 mins on the elliptical and then walked for 40mins with some girlfriends when i got home from work.... going to see if i can keep that going.

looks like we are all pretty similar i was banded on the 19th i'm almost to the 40lbs down and i know on average i'm right where i should be but the weeks where it hardly moves at all is what drives me insane.. i eat ~1200 cal's a day.. with one day a week where i let my self go a little crazy and eat maybe 1500 to 1700 cals ... slow is best in terms of having to deal with excess skin..just one day at a time... just wish sometimes i could fast forward
